This is The Young'uns Sunday afternoon performance on the Bellstone stage. Next festival: August 24 - 27 2018. Find out more at www.shrewsburyfolkfestival.co.uk
I was beginning to think that the future of folk was on shaky ground, but it is alive and kicking in the NORTH of England. Off to see the barns in Peterborough, Ontario tomorrow. First gig since the king of Boro Vin Garbutt left us.
My grandad was a Jewish immigrant to the 'Boro. Wish I'd been able to share the Hartlepool peddler with him. He'd have loved the last line. Hearing your accents and stories fills me with pride and joy. Thank you
My Mother was part of the Jewish community in Middlesborough 40 years ago, she still misses it today. She wasn't an immigrant to this country but her Mother was. They settled in London though.
came up as a link following me listening to goats dont shave .im amazed at how good these lads are .love it .im going to see these live as soon as i can
This performance was my first experience of the Young'uns live. I was already a fan. I had a great seat and enjoyed what was for me the best performance of the festival. Ta lads.
Great, great set! I have one issue with the lyrics in Tom Paine’s Bones, fine and powerful song though it is. It may disrespect Tom Paine’s bones a bit, since from all I’ve read, Mr. Paine was a deist who raged against ORGANIZED RELIGION. He was not, from what I understand , an atheist. If I understand what I’ve read correctly, he thought each person’s relationship to the divine should be personal, and DEFINITELY NOT through any intermediaries. Here’s a direct quote from Mr. Paine. “I believe in one God, and no more; and I hope for happiness beyond this life. I believe in the equality of man; and I believe that religious duties consist in doing justice, loving mercy, and endeavoring to make our fellow-creatures happy. But, lest it should be supposed that I believe in many other things in addition to these, I shall, in the progress of this work, declare the things I do not believe, and my reasons for not believing them. “I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of. My own mind is my own church.”

That much music from three voices just boggles the mind. So glad I learned about these guys.
