Why does it always take us by surprise? We are here to help on another! Charlotte entered them, without his knowledge, because his girlfriend had dumped him, and in a fit of self-hatred, he'd slashed and slashed the skin of his belly. The best of this is that while HIS voice was heard in all of its beauty, HER soul shone in her love and selflessness. She BROUGHT him here, and was perfectly willing to let him go on without her, and THEN...he refused to leave her behind. They've both done well, but more importantly, they're truly good humans.

You would think as soon as Charlotte said their “Music teacher” put them together and they sounded quite good, that Simon would think they might be really good, but he kept judging. You didn’t see Jonathan’s hand shaking after he finished singing. So emotional. I’ve seen this many, many times, and I still cry, while smiling, and feel so much love and care for Jonathan and Charlotte. She didn’t treat him like most people would suspect a girl of her looks and confidence would. I LOVE that Jonathan supported and stuck by her, like she did for him. I wish they were still together, or sing together sometimes. Even now, that Jonathan is world famous and in his own solo career, he is still humble, loving, and caring of others, as well as of himself now. He is confident. I thank Charlotte and his music teacher for helping him to share his love and talent with the world.

Painfully shy, extremely sensitive, I was bullied all through school. I've never thought I was particularly beautiful or ugly either. Just plain. It took being away from home traveling in the Air Force and meeting my late husband and us having a family that gave me confidence. I saw this audition and it always leaves me with goose flesh and tears because it is so beautiful and such a positive experience for that young man. My heart is as joyous as it is breaks for the way he has been treated. I keep them in my prayers.

Simon is a successful music producer. Sometimes, when he appears to be mean, he's actually helping the performers. He's stopped some contestants and made them switch to their backup song, and it turned out better. Other times, he's just a jerk and his creative insults are apparently for the sake of ratings. These folks stayed together for the contest, and they cut a couple of CDs together before going their separate ways as solo artists. They did change their name to "Jonathan and Charlotte" by the following week. You should review the vid of them doing "Caruso" for the semifinals, and hear what Simon said at that time. (I won't give it away.)
Well Simon may be a jerk sometimes but he's not stupid. He signed Susan Boyle to a recording contract almost immediately after her competition. She's sold millions of CDs and music downloads since then. Don't know if she's still with his record label but she's a bona fide star now. Simon also signed Jonathan and Charlotte to his label as well. They've gone their separate ways now and I don't think they're with Simon anymore but I do know this: Jonathan has a natural operatic voice even without training and Simon paid for Jonathan to get proper opera voice lessons. Simon knows true talent when he hears it and wow does Jonathan have an amazing voice.i

I think sometimes they "set up" certain opening remarks and body behavior by hte hosts on these shows just to get a more drastic reaction when the act actually turns out wonderful....they likely knew this was going to be a great audience pleaser in some way and were told t downplay it at the beginning....

I saw this duo here on You Tube shortly after they appeared on You Tube. They are incredible together. I've seen Jonathan solo as well, and am very pleased that he has gained confidence in himself. I hope they are both successful, and wish them well. As a side note, John Denver and Luciano Pavarotti were also incredible together. @ 2:07 Yes, that is exactly what he said. They proved him wrong, in spades. When I was in high school, I had a couple of friends who were, to be kind, large. If I was nearby, and overheard someone going after them, I would come up and tell the bully to buzz off. I was in no way intimidating, and the bullies knew they could take me no problem. However, I also had friends they did not wish to tangle with. I never called on their help, but if anything happened to me, they would take action, and that was known. One of my classmates, who had my back, was walking down the road one day, and my parents had me and my brother with them. They saw him and asked us if they should pick him up. He was wearing a cast off army jacket, and had shoulder length blond hair. Keep in mind, this was 1977. We looked at him, and I told my parents he was harmless. What they never knew was, he was personally responsible for me being able to pass several of my high school classes, and, his family had the biggest weed farm in the county. His mother drove the school bus that took me to and from school every day. If he reads this, and recognizes these references, he should know he can come to me and ask for my help. @ 8:37 This isn't the first time Simon had to eat his words. Jonathan would not have been on this stage without Charlotte. That being said, if you look him up, he has blossomed since then. To be honest, I've been out of touch somewhat, so I'm not up on what they've been doing lately.

Simon's not as bad as you might think. They didn't win the competition, but Simon's company signed them both to a $1,000,000 contract and got Charlotte some vocal training. He then sent them on tour and produced their first cd's. More than they would have made if they had won.

Charlotte is the one ,she helped and supported that lad ,she got her driving test to get them both around ,Then the rat dumped her,I’ll never listen to him again.
@@kp-qr6hy No one was dumped. BGT audition was in 2012 (They were teenagers) at the end of that season, Simon signed them to his SYCO record label for 1M British Pounds. They did 2 albums and toured together. Next, SONY offered them each a Solo Contract. Charlotte's album was released first. After, She Decided To Return To Music Art's School and Graduate. She now has a successful career in Musical Theatre which was always her Dream and has performed on London's West End! Both are doing what they love. I"m happy for both of them.

They had each other when they really needed each other while they were gaining confidence and figuring out who they were, and then moved on to their own successful careers. They were only 16 and 17. It wasn't meant to be a lifetime commitment, only just for the show.

I think sometimes they "set up" certain opening remarks and body behavior by hte hosts on these shows just to get a more drastic reaction when the act actually turns out wonderful....they likely knew this was going to be a great audience pleaser in some way and were told t downplay it at the beginning....

I saw this duo here on You Tube shortly after they appeared on You Tube. They are incredible together. I've seen Jonathan solo as well, and am very pleased that he has gained confidence in himself. I hope they are both successful, and wish them well. As a side note, John Denver and Luciano Pavarotti were also incredible together.

When I was in high school, I had a couple of friends who were, to be kind, large. If I was nearby, and overheard someone going after them, I would come up and tell the bully to buzz off. I was in no way intimidating, and the bullies knew they could take me no problem. However, I also had friends they did not wish to tangle with. I never called on their help, but if anything happened to me, they would take action, and that was known.
One of my classmates, who had my back, was walking down the road one day, and my parents had me and my brother with them. They saw him and asked us if they should pick him up. He was wearing a cast off army jacket, and had shoulder length blond hair. Keep in mind, this was 1977. We looked at him, and I told my parents he was harmless. What they never knew was, he was personally responsible for me being able to pass several of my high school classes, and, his family had the biggest weed farm in the county. His mother drove the school bus that took me to and from school every day. If he reads this, and recognizes these references, he should know he can come to me and ask for my help.
@ 8:37 This isn't the first time Simon had to eat his words. Jonathan would not have been on this stage without Charlotte. That being said, if you look him up, he has blossomed since then. To be honest, I've been out of touch somewhat, so I'm not up on what they've been doing lately.

Simon's not as bad as you might think. They didn't win the competition, but Simon's company signed them both to a $1,000,000 contract and got Charlotte some vocal training. He then sent them on tour and produced their first cd's. More than they would have made if they had won.

Jonathan singing "How Great Thou Art" which is his Mum's favorite, from his live stream Christmas concert is Fantastic too, That last note is Stunning! Charlotte is the one ,she helped and supported that lad ,she got her driving test to get them both around ,Then the rat dumped her,I’ll never listen to him again.
@@kp-qr6hy No one was dumped. BGT audition was in 2012 (They were teenagers) at the end of that season, Simon signed them to his SYCO record label for 1M British Pounds. They did 2 albums and toured together. Next, SONY offered them each a Solo Contract. Charlotte's album was released first. After, She Decided To Return To Music Art's School and Graduate. She now has a successful career in Musical Theatre which was always her Dream and has performed on London's West End! Both are doing what they love. I"m happy for both of them.
@@kp-qr6hy Then you'll be missing out on the best voice of this generation. Jonathan stood up for Charlotte and defied Simon knowing that he could be kicked off the show. They had each other when they really needed each other while they were gaining confidence and figuring out who they were, and then moved on to their own successful careers. They were only 16 and 17. It wasn't meant to be a lifetime commitment, only just for the show.
