Keep writing, keep creating content, don’t listen to the bigots, and remember that they are a small group of small minded people with nothing but loud voices, don’t even bother to chastise them, it only makes them louder. You should write fantasy novels, the stories you add to these characters are epic and inspiring. 💪

🥍 I feel as if udyr's lack of weather appropriate attire could be a purely combat thing, as if having more of his body exposed to the freljord(and by proxy his tattoos) allows him to tap into the power of the spirits more directly, and if this were the case there could've been a small start of game animation where udyr would throw off some massive fur coat or pelt of some kind.

"Thicc" was originally coined as a term to refer to people heavier (thicker) than is conventionally considered attractive, a term without the negative connotations of most words used to refer to heavy people.
These kinds of terms usually have two potential fates once the mainstream picks them up. Either they use the term in ways that give it the same negative connotations as the old words, or they get a new meaning-in this case, conventionally attractive but not anorexic.

Aight that "fanfic" you wrote of Udyr really had me going. Tingling all the good parts of my brain that I use too rarely these days, as I don't really find the time to read books atm.
Also that was anime as hell in all the good ways. Especially with how the Volibear basically turns into a Stand for Udyr. I love the mental image that the other gods are essentially just lending Udyr a hand willingly, while the Volibear is fully committed to his bashful/begrudging "I'm not helping you, idiot!" act, while totally screwing things up for the Watchers.
Also also that fanfic idea really plays into the trope of "crouching idiot, hidden badass" (or something like that), where Udyr presumably doesn't really do anything notable for most of Sejuani's campaign - mostly just on the sidelines, making sure the Ursine and spirits don't tear the Winter's Claw apart at any given moment - and just casually whips out a nuke level superpower in the moment it is most needed. Absolutely climactic moment for our resident "nah, that wasn't much" dad.

One of the things that always fascinated me about Udyr was his connects to the Gods of the Freljord and how he connects to the three currently playable. At the time we got the rework, it made me thing that for his moveset, it could have been a nice way to plant the seeds for a teaser about a possible “iron boar,” champ that could play as a tank.
But then in the video, I saw how you pointed out how from all the moves he uses, the boar stance is his default stance when he doesn’t have any one him and it made me wonder if an iron boar is really necessary. That and with us having Sejuani, we could have the “Iron Boar” has been with us all along and isn’t really a champ that needs to happen (at least not anytime soon).
But as for the Seal God… Oh, that is a whole other discussion. Then again, who knows if/when we will see or hear from it. I don’t recall if we ever had heard of it prior to the rework like the other four, but it does make me curious if there could be something more we’ll see there or if it was just go as far as being a passive.
A fantastic video as always. ^__^

You just made me realize something.... riot said udyrs passive would be related to the seal sister. When reddit went crazy about how it wasn't, riot simply laughed.
In the lore the seal sister made him stronger. Its possible the passive connection to the seal sister is the improved awakened powers of the stances....
Meaning in terms of design for the seal sister she would be a support. Maybe heal you. Maybe have a crazy passive like ornns where she improves on your abilities or stats..

The Old Gods of the Freljord absolutely must come together when all hell breaks loose in the Howling Abyss, and Udyr is the perfect glue for that. I love the idea of a Watcher as depicted in LOR, colossal and terrifying, rising from the abyss to embody the darkest hour. The mortal tribes of the Freljord have put aside their differences (a miracle onto itself) to combat the Frostguard and are surely able to put down a few voidborn. But in the face of something that should not be, something Lissandra once revered, it's poetic that the Old Gods she's so desperately tried to smother are the only ones who can repel them. Fear engrosses the ranks of both armies, so that they fail to notice the clouds darkening above them - or perhaps attributing it to the frightful Watcher - when a bolt of lightning, blinding in its brilliance and deafening in volume, slams against the Watcher and sends it tumbling back into the ice and stone, both of which crumbling under its weight. The fleeting moment of awed silence is then shattered with another ferocious thunderclap - no, a roar - tears across the sky. Crackling arcs of lightning form the outline of something equally huge and awesome, and emerging from the stormclouds is Volibear, his eyes burning with baleful light focused entirely upon the reeling Watcher. You can't have the biggest battle in the Freljord's history without the God of War inviting himself!

  • @camoo3729
    @camoo3729 Рік тому +1

I've been abusing udyr the past month in ranked and here are some things to note about the animations that I didn't see talked about:
Udyr's animations are split into not only attack and walk cycles, but also a unique cast animation for each stance.
for bear stance he unleashes this roar/surge of energy kinda like volibear, for boar there's a callback to his ionian training where he puts up a hand sign as the shield goes up, for ram he dips his body even lower but for gameplay reasons (initial movespeed burst/CC immune portion) he assumes a really low, very short stride where it feels like hes an american football linebacker. finally, for phoenix stance he jumps into the air with his hands even higher as he descends into the ring of ice.
Second, boar stance DOES in fact have a unique auto attack animation where he reaches into his opponent and kinda rips out their life force. It's really weird when placed next to his other, more strike style attacks. Where the other attacks have almost 180 degree arc swings, boar stance is controlled. Personal theory is that this is related to another certain ionian champion's W that also grants a shield and lifesteal that also may have trained with udyr and also may have kissed. Seeing as the aforementioned cast animation is much more ionian compared to his other abilities further confirms this.
IN ADDITION to this, if you pay close attention to the animation specifics, Udyr ALWAYS starts his attack combinations with his right hand, which holds the claw charm that's commonly referenced as a more freljordian part of his design. This applies to all his stances BUT boar stance, where he SPECIFICALLY starts with his left hand (the one with Lee's blindfold). This rule only applies to one other attack animation, his unstanced auto aka the most controlled punch, where he permanently keeps up his guard hand.
TLDR; Lee and Udyr's connection goes even deeper than whats discussed in the video.

I actually see Udyr and Lee Sin's relationship as neither platonic friendship nor romance. I think it's possible to be, for lack of better terms, Soul Mates without romance or love being involved. To be as close as any lovers can be, but their bond being made of something other than love. It is a trope I am fond of, and I find Udyr's voice lines to skirt the line enough to fit this particular trope. Unless someone involved with the writing comes out and confirms their relationship, it fits better to me, than a straight up romance.
That being said, it wouldn't be the first time writers have hinted at something they intended, without being able to state it outright, so I wouldn't be surprised if they came out and confirmed they were in love at some point.

I think is very much possible to have a soulmate without the romantic love component. My best friend and I are really close, have the same sense of humor and at times say exactly the same thing at the same time (yes, like a cheap rom com, it's both embarrassing and awesome when it happens) but she is a lesbian and I never felt attracted to her even before I knew she was not into men. Soulmate is just someone who you're really close with in the most fundamental and spiritual level, there is nothing in the word "mate" that necessary evoke romantic love it's just something people attribute it too. Case in point I love when shows or books depicts siblings as soulmates because well, you're more likely to have a strong lasting bond with your brother/sister than with some random stranger

I can kinda understand both sides when it comes to the whole "romance-vs-friendship"-thing. Because sure there are a lot of platonic friendships, but I'd argue TF&Graves and Cait&Vi were the biggest examples of friendships in League, all other friendships either fell apart (like Azir&Xerath), feel shallow (like Taliyah and Nasus have talked once to each other), unexplored (we have no idea how deep the friendship between Garen and Taric went) or like they are getting dictated by the power dynamic between the characters and not by their friendship (like Garen and J4, who feel more like a king and his knight and less like friends). So I can see why some people are annoyed at the fact that it feels like a deeper friendship has to be romantic.
With that being said I also agree that Riot just loves queerbaiting, which is often done because the writers intend the character to be queer but aren't allowed to express that to not anger certain countries. And while I can understand that some people would like to see a deeper friendship that isn't romantic, I do agree that it is dumb when people assume that a romantic relationship replaces the friendship.
Heck in general I'd even argue that if the romantic implications between Udyr and Lee didn't exist then they wouldn't even feel that close, so I do think that it is a good thing in this case, the romantic implications help to make the friendship feel deeper.
Ultimately I have no problem with any of the queer couples we've got so far, but i would like to see a duo of champs that are extremely good friends and not romantically involved eventually.

I could see Udyrs big moment be a little earlier in the fight against Lissandra, basically being the same as in your video, but changing the tide against the Frostguard instead of the Voidborn and in turn unleashing enough destructive power to cause breaks in the true ice, killing many of Lissandras forces but also unleashing the Void. Now again causing catastrophy, he would have to go through the same trauma as when he was a child, but this time he regains his calm wich enables him to fight the new enemy with his full but controlled power.
Also I love your storytelling, i get chills every time.

I def get what you mean that the model viewer style being more appropriate for a live streamed video as a posed to a more scripted video.

28:20 I'll risk it, but the mixt of the 3 colors has a meaning of the goal he achieved in his training in Ionia, he would never get rid of the anger, so he learned to contain it.
White = has a meaning of purity, freshness and calm.
Gold = Gives the feeling of success, accomplishment and even sophistication, value and sobriety.
Red = represents the internal impulses; wrath, rage, desire, etc.
Maybe I'm thinking too much, but that's what I think.

I swear to fucking god I had goosebumps like never before.
Pre-rework Udyr was my favourite character gameplay wise, because of how goofy he was, yet so cool as an idea and as a lore.
The rework mantained everything I liked about him, making him just as serious as he should be.
A moment like the one you wrote would make me shred in tears like anything before.
I love league of legends as much as I hate it, i stopped playing and ONLY came back because of Udyr rework, and I'm finally having fun again after a lot of time.
A huge part on calling me back is your contents and the passion you put in all of your projects.
    Thank you

Funny fact about the romance/friendship take, let me tell you a short story:
When I started dating my actual wife we decided to split very early on. We broke up on very friendship terms and we actually met up a few times as friends, to chat, have coffee and watch movies. One day we "found out" that we had romantic feelings towards each other. This is because we had already been intimate and, on top of that, we also hanged out as friends. We knew each other to such a deep degree that we found out that we loved each other.
It's been eight years strong and we are getting officially married next year. So yeah, friendship and romance are not mutually exclusive.

Thats gets me into something due to my incostesncy may never actually make, for a Yordle OC whos a Grandpa GiGachad, with something similar to this where he Bursts up with laugther blowing himself back with such immese force that he slips and crashes on the ground, calms for a moment before Begging to Laugh even Harder as he picks himself up, while lankynly shaping himeself and clening his ground so that slip up doesn't happen again(Hopefully).
I believe it express's his deal with general danger that comes through age and existence plus the Yordle's Imoratlity adding into him, how he deals with his amensia, how he deals with ptsd, how he Survives the Impossible.
