Give me phone please brother
Both are disappointing ... for camera and performance !
MIUI 13: nothing has changed except the number !
I used the same store for my Mi 11 Ultra, they're great
Very notable point, I have ROG 3 with SD 865+ and I think I should hold it for 1 more year as its much optimised and runs without any issues.

been waiting for this video since release day. The only reviewer I trust.
Absolutely agreed!

Couldn't agree more 👍
So true, Can't trust the rest of them...

Very welcome review. FWIT having experienced the inconvenience of not having video out on my 10T Pro my next phone will have video out as a must have item.
very good review as usual from Chris, I guess more testings are coming but I am mostly inrested in the Xiaomi 12X which is sporting the Snapdragon 870 and hopefully will have less thermal issues and better battery life
Crossing fingers to get a test from Chris of it as well !
Looks like I'm a future xiaomi 12x user then.
well sadly the 12X is 6.2" and i prefer a larger phone. And like the other phones it's hardly worth upgrading unless your phone is 3+ years old.
Snapdragon 870 is awesome cip manufactured by TSMC! TSMC was making best snapdragon cip like 845,855,865,860 and 870!!! But Samsung was making 888 and now new 8 gen1! There lies all the problem! Samsung is great in many things, but making processor is not one of them! Samsung make that catastrophe of processor in new Google pixel witch have same problem like 8 gen1!
Apple share part of guilt ,coz they bought almost all capacity of TSMC and rest mediaTek!
Waiting for the 12x as well!
Me too. 870 is a beast in terms of efficiency
How to save money on a phone in 2022:
1. Pick a sd870 2021 phone.
2. 65 watt charging
3. 1080 FHD screen
4. Install gcam
After seeing reviews about the new gen1 I ended up getting the IPhone 13 pro max and it’s my first iPhone ever. But I will say overall it does seem to perform better than any snapdragon device I’ve had.
Great review 👍 What was going on with the frame drop and choppyness on the front cameras of both the 12's...
Not sure seems my video editor did that the original files seems fine it’s odd.
I've really missed your reviews. Well come back from your holidays
Amazing unboxing keep it up as always Chris Sir
been waiting for this review!!!! 🙆🏻♂️ thanks mate! You never disappoint with your reviews
Thanks
Chris, did you pay additional taxes (from Trading Shenzen) to import this in the EU?
I'd like to see an honest comparison in the future between Xiaomi 12 Pro, Oneplus 10 Pro, Realme GT2 Pro to help me decide which one to get.
Welcome back Chris !!!! A real pleasure to resume watching the reviews made by you !!! Unfortunately, the conclusions are not satisfactory !! It's a clear problem, the question is how much it belongs to the processor and how much is to blame ... Xiaomi . The first impulse is to blame Xiaomi ... So it was with the Mi 11 series, but after that, all the phone manufacturers had the same problem with SND 888. Somehow, for Mi 11 series, they have greatly improved the situation through software updates. For Xiaomi 12 they brought another cooling system but it seems that it is not enough! No one knows for sure, why they didn't calibrate the cooling needs with the thermal potential of the new processor. It's a shame because these phones have so much potential, have a special quality construction, top technology and whatever is disturbing in the current operation, it can be improved by software. I sincerely hope that Xiaomi can solve this situation through the following software updates, if this is the case. If not ... goodbye SND 8 gen 1 .....
Thanks for detail comparison. Eagerly waiting for full review.
Happy New year TechTablets! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 For your work
Happy new year!
I'm a Redmi Note user (because budget) but I still love watching these flagships. The battery size difference (100 mah) between the 12 and 12 Pro is surprising, given the physical size difference. Also the 12's photo of Vera is disappointing - details were lost on her black fur (Chris mentioned this as "black crush").
Excellent honest review Chris please keep the good work 👍👍😘😘
Great video. Same as what a few other UA-camrs found when testing, waaay too hot.
Detailed video as always please will you check out Moto Edge 30 Pro?
I’ll try but I can’t buy everything
I love it! How you compare every phone. I can make decisions now. Overheating issue on xiaomi12 seems not good
Doing what you do best. Great to see you back. Please do a OnePlus 10 Pro review as well
I’ll try to
@@Techtablets OnePlus 10 Pro comparison with Xiaomi 12 PRO would be awesome! Thanks
Having them in between the iPhone and 11 Ultra creates a barrier of heat from both sides. At least those two have available avenues to cool down slightly.
Welcome back Chris, it's been along time
whoa, nice to see you back, Chris!
Yeah, such disappointing current release of 12th series, as there is actually downgrade in camera's. JN1 sensor is bad. Battery life dissapointing even with LTPO screen :/
But nice design though, still not unique as regular mi 11 was.
Hopefully they release 12X model with SD870 in some form here in Europe, whatever it would be called - 12x, Poco F4 etc.
So sticking to 11U seems, because of rumors 12U wont be such a upgrade, except design.
Yes if you have the 11U I would wait. But the 12X hopefully we get that in Europe it might be the best model to go for.
@@Techtablets Yeah, Mi 11U with 3rd party apps for imaging/ RAW video recording is great, overall phone is very nice. Probably S22Ultra will come as best looking device and overall performance this year in Android segment, just Mi 11U fits my needs more for more open support of imaging/ modding compared that Samsung lets with 3rd party solutions.
Hopefully we get 12X, but they seem quite quiet about that model, so I guess it can come up in global slightly different form. Also there are rumors of some part of SD8gen1 being made by TSMC not Samsung, so wondering which devices gets it first and would they come up better /competable with bionic A15 from Apple.
Great video Chris...thanks...I wrote it sometime ago that it seems to me that Xiaomi does not move forward...still persist the same problems as in the past and I don't see any progress (camera setup, bugs, IP ratings and so on...)...I don't think that the problem with the 8 Gen1 is a problem with the chipset itself but it is a software problem of Xiaomi...8 Gen 1 also used in other mobile phones and so far I haven't seen that they would fail in the test...
The Moto X30 is running quite hot too. Will have to see if the Oneplus 10 Pro is hot too under stress tests.
@@notagain2856 yes they all heat up...but only Xiaomi failed if I'm not mistaken
@@mark46ification Looks like the Iqoo 9 Pro is also very hot. Antutu benchmark crashed when trying to run it for 3rd time. That is a phone with gaming phone cooling system
i really love to see your review video. full and detailed review
i think the 12x is worth a try given how bad these ones with snapdragon 8 gen 1 were in terms of heat.
the only bad thing about the 12x really is the price, at 550 bucks is a bit too expensive, when I can buy a s20fe with the same snapdragon chip at much lower price.
Is the MTK dimensity 8100 considered an upgrade from SD 865?
I mostly use my phone for gaming.
Thanks for the honest review. I was thinking of switching back from oneplus 9 pro to xiaomi, but after watching, i feel like sticking to the op 9 pro for the time being.
I hoped for the cheapest among the 12 series to be the next-gen of Mi 11x and instead the 12x is priced in an entirely different class...
From 350e to 500e is quite a step up and a disappointment.
Yes, It's overpriced for a SD870 phone.
Bienvenido. Se te echaba en falta. We missed you.
Another nice and detailed review. Thank you for the good work.
Can you help me make a decision?
Help me choose between galaxy note 20 ultra and the regular mi 11. Both are of the same price. Advice me please.
Exynos Note 20 ultra? If it’s the snapdragon model I would get it over the Xiaomi
How does the throttling of the stress test apply to in real life use?
Hi Chris, may I know which app do you use to check the battery wear?
It’s part of antutu the battery test tab
😊 thanks
You're definitely not missing out too much if you're using the older flagship chipsets.
For those who do need that SD 8 Gen 1 chip for very heavy usages such as video editing or gaming, you should either use those cooling fans for phones (like from Xiaomi or Razer) or use a computer :p
As the year progresses I’m sure many brands will come up with better cooling solutions like black shark or ASUS and Redmagic.
can you do a review on xiaomi 12 x..it has S 870 processor..would like to know how it performs? pls
i always liked the summery overview at the end of your video's. Can you put that back please? The pro's and cons overview :)
Still looking for an upgrade for my Realme X2 Pro... These phones are not gonna be it...
Oh this isn’t the review that’s coming for both but a comparison
@@Techtablets Thank for the reply and all your reviews, still one of the best!!
Nice video but i wish u did their speakers comparison
Are they now better/improved with the latest software updates?
Looks like my Poco F3 is still very relevant for 2022 with the SD 870.
100% and still my favourite Android SoC the SD870. So the Xiaomi 12X might be the way to go and cheaper.
Thank you very much - extremely useful, was waiting Xiaomi 12 since my old 10T Pro and now I'm very much disappointed need to look for something else how... Sadly Huawei still banned despite it's new flagship... Vivo X70+ Pro? really have no idea what to get now in 2022
take a look at Asus Zenfone 9✨
Looks like another CPU is breathing down on the SD line. Great preliminary review.
Hi.. Do they have second space & dual app
Hi is the phone heating while using casually or only when we do gaming? I planned to buy flagship phone this year but the new snapdragon processor making me think twice.
No just when playing demanding games or gaming on high settings. I think in phones with better cooling and tablets it will be great.
@@Techtablets OK thanks for the info pls do comparison between one plus 10 pro and xiaomi 12 pro when it is available.
How is streaming over Netflix and prime, is there 1080p support or is it like mi 11 stuck on 480p or 720p,
Finally a trusted reviewer on the Xiaomi 12 series who knows his shit.
think i said it before on your channel. mkhd will never make videos like these. you are simply too real...and companies hate that
we, your viewers are not a company, and absolutely love your honesty and the tests you perform.
Thanks for watching!
Looking forward to tablet reviews of the new alldocube x game and the very cheap alldocube smile 1 and smile x
I go anytime with the curved screen - always. It's better estetic, much nicer, more screen and is perfect.
I was confused when it's focus with their boxes.. lol
Thanks for the great review @Chris, as usual. If you ask me, 12 Pro looks like a downgrade to me from Mi 11 Pro, especially in Camera department. The 8MP 5X optical Zoom Camera in 11 Pro is much versatile than the 50MP 2x Optical Zoom Camera in 12 Pro, in my opinion. Also, gone is the IP68 protection which is a should have been there to their flagship device. I am using a Mi 10 Pro till date as my secondary phone and to me, that has the most versatile Camera compared to its successors for next 2 generations
Thank you! As always a great review!!
I am so disappointed from that Performance.. I actually wanted to upgrade from my Mi 10.
Maybe it's time to switch brands after 8 years.. :(
Why would you switch from Mi10? is it broken?
@@chupacabre99 The storage isnt enough anymore, already lost 900mah of my battery capacity, a better display and better cameras as a whole.
Get mi 11, mi 11 seems really good and by the looks of it mi 12 isn't worth atm.
@@DeFacto1991 i am gonna wait a couple more months.
The new snapdragon has lots of potential because of its ai.
The Mi11 isnt good enough for its price.
And the Xiaomi 12 is the first flagchip model they finally ship with a pink version.
Thanks for your honest review
I'm curious if they'll adress the heating issue on the 12 ultra or not 🤔
yes I love the 865 in my mi 10 Ultra ,prob going to keep for another year
I think they make the new chips thermal throttle to push the gaming phones more
Glad to see your vedio
This is a hard pass. You save me a lot of money with this one! Still using Mi 9.
Same still satisfied using mi9
Mi 9t pro 2019 still as fast as day I got it
only reason need to. change my Mi 9 is the battery, after replacing original, I have CHANGED 4 batteries!!. really low quality from the 3rd party making these batteries. cannot get original battery.from Xiaomi.
Great to see you back Chris.
Totally agree the 12 series have not been much of an up grade. The big downer though is that we have yet another hot chip from Qualcomm. Thats two yrs in a row. 🤦♂️
The cooling technology on these phones seems to be unable to keep temperatures in check.
A Very nice comparison 👍👍
so far i think my mi 11 is much better with the 12.5.11 update it doesnt heat up as much as the miui 12.5.6 i think it will slowly become more well optimized
I tried looking into how this phone performs bc the Xiaomi 13 has been released. I'm expecting this phone to have a discounted price soon but to my dismay the performance is, for me, bad due to the overheating!
I'm still using a phone running on SD 865. Thanks for the warning!
Oh Nooooo! You just confirmed the rumors I've been seeing floating around with regards to the new chipset. I was really looking forward to using the Gen 1 power to emulate PS2 on my phone using the new Aether SX2 app. But if they can only push for 20 mins, that's a problem. We may have to wait for some gamer phones with dedicated cooling fans to really see what the chip can do. Thanks for the video.
Phone with dedicated cooling fan seems like a must for your use. Even gaming phone like Iqoo 9 Pro with vapour chamber and huge heat sink struggled to keep the 8gen1 from overheating.
Yes once the gaming phones come with cooling fans it will be good or large tablets with this new SD 8 gen 1 have the room to keep it cooler dissipate more heat.
does it come with a protective screen cover like the poco phone?
Great review! Almost as great as that tan 🌞
Haha well I left summer in New Zealand
TechTablets is one of the best and Honest reviewer out there.👍👍👍
actually you must know that the company which was making snapdragon processors has for now stopped making snapdragon processors because of apple and so snapdragon had to go for other producer which is samsung so thats the reason behind but you are lucky to know that there will be two variety of newer SD processors one which is on the market right now other variety will be in market soon which will not over heat
Incredible..
The 870 is still the most reliable even in 2022
iWatch all the video until the end
Before purchasing devices it's absolutely necessary to watch your reviews..
I got 12 ( not pro ) really good phone for everyday use, camera is just perfect plus 4k60 fps recording, charging time is like 30 something minutes really fast, and phone in general is fast af for every all or multitasking, I got new one for 500 euros, worth it for sure.
Hey can you review IQOO 9 series (Vivo's value oriented spinoff)? IQOO phones are quite underrated, last years IQOO 7 flagship had the best thermal performance among SD888 phones, also the phones support LTE Band 20
The Iqoo 9 Pro is not handling the 8gen1 heat very well too. In a thermal throttling test I watched, the Iqoo 9 Pro refused to run Antutu benchmark for 3rd time due to overheating
@@notagain2856 Antutu is extreme case, in day to day to gaming or performance oriented tasks phone doesn't get pressured that much, it will heat 100% performance it will heat up that way eventually because IQOO rarely throttles. IQOO Neo 5S could be another good option
great video
Thanks for confirming the throttling and crashing out. Frankie experienced the same thing. I guess the Poco F3 is still the phone to buy.
Yes not good to see these phones crash and burn.
@@Techtablets i have x3 pro it's also good
Which is the program showing the fps?
I heard that 12 series now have performance mode in battery settings. Did you try it before?
Yes doesn't make much difference and it still overheats.
@@Techtablets that's kinda sad, since it expected to pass the overheat issues. But it doesn't affect when playing for some popular games like Genshin Impact or PUBGM, right?
the 12 and 12 pro seems quite disappointing even with new specs. Shocking. The cameras are also disappointing. They need to fix them cause that overexposure is shocking. My wife has the note 10 pro and it seriously takes brilliant photos and video (with proper lighting of course). I also see that the 12 and 12 pro's video recording is very jerky. Guess we wait until we get better cooling for newer chips. The 860 and 870 gpus are still good to go with . The 888 heats up quite substantially as well. They should rather just use the 888, 888+ and Gen 1 for tablets since it will have better cooling.
And MIUI 13 is too disappointing, almost nothing new
I have the same mobile phone and as far as photos are concerned, I haven't found a reasonable replacement for it for reasonable money from Xiaomi so far
@@mark46ification the wife loves the note 10 pro. She came from the p20 and the p20 took really great photos for the time. She is not disappointed with the note 10 pro. 😀
I just watched Hans Tech camera comparison between the 12 Pro, Oneplus 10 Pro and Iqoo 9 Pro. The 12 Pro's camera got noticeably better after the latest update.
I also found the design to be a bit disappointing. Bezels look a tad thicker than the Mi 11 series. I also prefer the more rounded corners on the 11, as well as the camera placement on the left side. Overall the 12's design is more generic and uninspired looking than the 11, at least to my eye.
My Mi 8 is still very solid! So immma wait for next release
Great video
do you have battery comparison?
location of the speakers for the xiaomi 13 thoo.. discouraging for gamers as it would easily be blocked
I have always wondered which models get Xiaomi's suite of basic apps (phone, messaging....) & Which ones come with Google's!
Got any Idea?
Redmi series
@@Techtablets Cool
& I guess also rebrands of the Redmi series! Like the Mi 11x and Poco too!
You should be measuring the flickering as well... ❤️
No way for me to measure PWM flicker with my current Spyder X Pro meter and gear
Pretty shocking to see the overheating issues. With so much reporting of heat issues with the SD888 last year, you would have thought they would have tried to improve upon that (probably too late in the development cycle of the SoC, but atleast with some cooling solution). It's a shame - the MI12 is a really nice looking handset, I'll stick with my MI11 Pro for a while, despite it being a bit too large to be genuinely comfortable for 1 hand use.
Especially the Xiaomi 12 it died in 11-12 minutes into the test that’s just not acceptable at all. Xiaomi could have used better cooling and Qualcomm is also to blame maybe they didn’t set the cooling requirements for it clear enough. Still coming for the hot 888 to the new hot chip seems incredible. Nothing was learned from this ?? 🤦♂️
@@Techtablets There are some great videos on Snapdragon 8 Gen1 vs. older Qualcomm and Apple's SoCs. Basically, the peak power usage of this chip can go up to 14W which is absolutely crazy for a mobile chip and can't be cooled without a fan in any phone. I mean, Xiaomi probably could have (and should have) done more in terms of cooling and maybe throttling the phone sooner rather than later to avoid overheating.
But make no mistake, this chip is really bad and it comes after an already bad 888. Snapdragon dropped the ball in the past few years when it comes to power usage and efficiency, maybe it's poor design, maybe it's a manufacturing process (Samsung for these flagships).
I suspect Xiaomi will downclock or power throttle the SoC soon. They no doubt have used its full ability on release to get those high benchmarks so they can market that to the youth market. Samsung seemed to throttle the SD888 to stop the overheating, doing this a few months after release to get a more stable and efficient SoC. I think that whilst Qualcomm uses the Samsung fabs then the SD8G1 (SD888) are flawed chipsets, but Qualcomm are rumoured to finally dump Samsung and go back to TSMC (that made the fantastic SD865) so hopefully the SD8G2 will come to the S22 later in the year?
Xiaomi has brought a new cooling system for the Xiaomi 12 series, but it seems that the initial data about this processor, along with a software not yet optimized, have exceeded the cooling capabilities originally designed. All in all, it's a shame that this situation has been reached, because these phones are really different from the other points of view.
Am using the 888 on the realme gt and no overheating here
What about your obligatory The Expanse final season review. I liked it but was somewhat disappointed. They need to make more of it. They were building Laconia storyline. Maybe I will need to read the novels if they don't continue.
Yes disappointing a bit I felt they rushed it a little?
i was worried about the exynos being on the s22 in the UK but now after seeing thermals it might not be such a bad thing, it seems that under extreme gaming loads the sd8g1 can get uncomfortably hot, potentially enough to cause burning over a period of time!
My Xiaomi 12 peaks over 52 degrees C when gaming playing Genshin Impact max settings just before overheating closes the game.
The Exynos 2200 is manufactured at the Samsung fabs, as is the SD8G1 so both using the same node process. I suspect as they both use the same CPU and that the AMD GPU on the Exynos is first gen and unlikely to be working as good as the SD8G1, I suspect that the Exynso s22 will be worse. In fact, the leaked benchmarks suggest Samsung will be power throttling the AMD GPU by 33%! So you may be right in regard to thermals but you are gonna take a big hit in performance.
@@Techtablets apparently in 2 minutes 52 degrees celsius is hot enough to burn the skin, so that is likely why it shuts the game down. Thats really quite dissapointing.
@@andyH_England personally i dont care about gaming, so im hoping that the exynos delivers the battery life that I want, although in previous versions it has been a dissapointment. the iphone 13 pro max is looking more and more desireable for me despite being a long time android user
Does anyone know if full screen gestures work on 3rd party launchers on Miui 13/Android 12?
It won't work pal. Have seen One review on that.
But the price diffrence between the 12 and 12 pro is huge as well
12 pro and 12 good for heating up your home during this cold winter days 😁😁
Haha yes! Hand warmers
It isn't that it's not worth upgrading from my MI 11, i am now convinced it is better optimized starting with chipset, software and cameras.
Yes keep with the Mi 11 for now it’s not worth it!
Mi11 pro vs mi12pro camera test please.
Will updates fix the issue? By the way, have you received any updates?
Yes one big update on both that improved the throttling but didn’t fix it. I’m not sure it can be fixed unless they throttle down the performance and clocks to lower temps.
@@Techtablets Motorola in the latest update they were able to reduce heat and throttling. Before the update everything was terrible. I hope and Xiaomi will be able to, given that at the presentation they boasted of their cooling
I bought this phone recently and will be undervolting it to reduce the GPU power consumption which will lower the temperature of the GPU leading to less throttling and a more stable and consistent gaming performance. I have already undervolted my Xiaomi Mi 9, Xiaomi Mi 10, and even my Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Plus tablet using the KonaBess app to do the undervolting.
The cure for the throttling should come in gen 2, as rumors said that will be manufactured by TSMC. Anyway, there seems to be a new firmware that fixes stuttering in the camera. In typical Xiaomi fashion, the launched firmware isn't really ready to use daily.
It’s not full of minor bugs and even scrolling lag bug that’s pretty bad in many apps. Feels like a beta firmware even after the new 800mb patch.
@@Techtablets eww that sucks. I understand why they hold the global release. These two are officially registered already in my country, but they're still completely silent and instead focus the marketing to Redmi Note 11 series.
it seems that samsung as a company with which xiaomi competes in the world of smartphones did not have to do anything about the S22 series. Because the xiaomi12 input version is marred by putting a worse processor and screen compared to the pro version. It turns out that the s21 is still a better phone than the newer xiaomi12. samsung has all the premium features except the famous plastic.
Except for you who had the phone in your hand but in the video we can't tell how the pro is brighter than the regular 12 in sunlight
Which font are you using on those please?
Jus the default font why?
@@Techtablets It looked different. Closer to Google's font, which I prefer. Thanks for replying.
Glad that xiaomi is making the mi12 small and compact..
Super comfort
I can't believe how bad xiaomi did on the camera side and qualcomm on the CPU side because of overheating
Having display out with my Xperia is saving my rear as my laptop is being RMA'd. Very disappointed with Xiaomi for still lagging far behind in this regards
It’s about time they added it and 4K video with the front camera.
Which app do you use to check battery health?
It’s part of antutu
That design looks minimalistically good
Thoughts on iqoo 9 pro ?
throttling happening because , few gen 1 processor made by Samsung ,
Few made by tmsc , so tmsc manufacture will work nice.
..
Is there anyone who can tell me what is the app used to see the health of the battery?
