Waiting for this puppy to be delivered next month. Checked in to see why I may have made the wrong decision: Turns out, I have not. Actually, all the valid points you raised are none I care about in my use of the car. Reliability is of course an issue - however, the complex power train is not exactly new. They have had plenty of time to work the bugs out - or so I hope.
    Best regards

My biggest gripe about the car is that the charging is unbelievably slow! I have a Honda Clarity plugin hybrid that has a similar battery size and charges at 32a; full in 2.5 hours. Perfect when we drive a distance to a mall or dinner, and the car is fully charged by the time we're done. The XC90 charges at 16a and takes 6 hours to fully charge from near empty! Between that and the unpredictable eAWD are my biggest gripes.

I would take issue with your comments about the remote start. The Volvo XC90 comes with the Volvo Cars app fully subscribed for the first 4 years and then after that it is a yearly subscription.
In my opinion the modest subscription cost is well worth it for the features you get, including of course remote start as well as remote unlock, precise vehicle location when parked and advanced driving and position journals. While a remote start on the keyfob would be nice, I probably wouldn't use it nearly as much as pulling out my phone and doing it on the app.
However if you have your vehicle plugged in, you can make use of the parking climate timers which can be accessed from the dash without the app. You can set multiple schedules for single time, or daily or days of the week departures and the vehicle will use the electric power from the charging plug to pre-condition the vehicle to be at a comfortable temperature at the time specified.
This is even more useful than remote start in my opinion as it means you can have the vehicle heated or cooled to a comfortable temperature even if it is parked in a garage or other enclosed space where running an engine could be unsafe.

Volvo use to offer a "red key" (additional ~$500) that includes remote start on the fob. I was tempted to buy it when we bought our XC90 T5 4+ years ago, since I wanted to convinience of using a fob, but now that I am use to the app, and primarily use it from my house or office, I'd recommend against the additional purchase.
You mention a weird power delivery between the electric and gas engine and I believe it. I've driven the T6 (polestar tuned and not) and there is a slight power reduction in the transition of boost supplied by the supercharger and turbo. Most people probably won't notice it but if you're a car guy you'll immediate feel it and it's surprising that car could be tuned like this.
    Some additional pet peaves:
    - The driver proximity system thinking my wife is driving when we get in together (her in the front passenger seat) and since the infotainment system takes so long to boot up you sit there looking like and idiot as your seat adjusts twice. Also if it's hot out you can't turn on the AC (infotainment lag!).
    - The proximity sensors in the door handles are slow to respond in the winter. It goes from almost instant in the summer to sometimes taking up to 10s. Sounds like a short amount of time but imagine standing beside you car door holding the handle and nothing happening for 10s. I suspect some moisture has gotten into the door handles and freezes in the winter.
    - The climate control is awful. You truly cannot set two different temps let alone "three" (middle row).
    - Sometimes (not always) changing the fan speed does nothing (auto-climate on or not). The infotainment software if full of bugs.

I’ve had mine since June. I use the app for remote start, no subscription that I’m aware of.
The power surprise when on hybrid is a little annoying because we all get surprised when gas kicks in.
Power windows are slow if not in auto.
Screen does take awhile to load.
My MAIN issue is there’s no charging schedule for US drivers

Remote start from app requires no subscription. I have , it is free for full duration of the lease. Talk to your dealer. They fooled you. 100%
What reliability are you taking about? Nothing serious will happen to Volvo in first three years of a lease and then you jump to next lease.
My S90, has no delay with the screen load. It is < 1 sec and its never lags as your showed.

Do you have multiple driver profiles saved? I heard that having multiple custom profiles will slow the center screen boot-time on start up. If you haven’t set any custom driver profiles, then I’m not sure what is causing the slow boot time.

    • @kalx007
      @kalx007 Рік тому +2

I bought 2018 V90CC Ocean race when it came out... no problems. After 3 years I got 2022 model XC90. Both fully specced. If you don´t need extra 2 seats - go for V90CC. If you have dogs, kids etc - nappa leather will wear out quickly. If you can afford - get the B&W sound system upgrade. If you have to drive a lot on harsh roads (snow, mud - general outdoors hiking etc) - I would skip plugin hybrid, since when the battery runs out you are stuck with FWD vehicle(rear axel is only powered by electric moror). In this case go for the mild hybrid. V90CC go for 20" wheels, XC90 21" wheels (21" for V90CC are only for high quality paved roads, 22" for XC90 basically the same). Or if you decide to go with 21" and 22" get another set of wheels(19" V90CC and 20" XC90") for winter time - in case you have winter where you live :) ...

Doing a review on pet peeves, using a filthy car & talking about speculations regarding reliability = not the greatest reviews. Volvo's turbos are SO "over engineered". You want to guess about how the electrics or software does, ok, but the rest? Come on...
