- This toilet was design by Elliott Whiteley and Gareth Humphreys whilst studying Product Design at The University of Huddersfield
This animation has been produced to show the main advantages and workings of this new innovative toilet. The main advantage of using animation for such an application is to give a working example of the toilet which would otherwise not be seen. The assembly process has also been explained here to give potential customers an idea of how to install the product.

It is just an idea, from two students at the University of Huddersfield, Product Design course. There are issues to be solved but well presented and executed project. 1/3 of a million visitors fantastic, Well done
This is a very nice reimagining of the old folding sink/toilet units used on old trains. I’ve lived many places that really needed more compact, overflow-proof toilets. This one’s pretty good, though it looks like it needs more failsafe engineered into it, to prevent sewage ever backing up accidentally...like from someone being sick, or, persons stuffing non-flushables, or too much paper, into it.
Why is it significant that the toilet takes up less space when not in use? You still have to leave the clearance for those occasions when someone does use it, no?
Tilt toilers with flush are extremely clean.

Doubt it'll be less maintenance ...did you see all the different parts in this toilet? It is a cool design no doubt, but the fact that before your waste go down the drain it has to be pushed up by a lot of water, so I don't know how it'll save a ot of water to go over the next chamber. Again a cool design, great idea....but way to many parts & I bet so expensive to just a place to put your waste product in..
Well we are still relying on mid 20th century infrastructure and waste management, so any ideas that help move us into the 21st century is a plus in my mind.

What if you drop a big solid sinker; doesn't look like enough water force to push that big one up and down the drain. I like it but, I does it have to wait to break up to flush completely?

好東西!，但設計上會有幾個問題，修正後會變的更棒:
1.尿液如果殘存在馬通蓋周遭，然後使用完後尿液會因蓋起動作而流下，而馬桶內部要做封閉的沖水動作，處於外圈的馬桶蓋就不會被清洗到，而沒被清洗到的尿液，變會順流到後面馬桶背靠上
2.清洗設計的出水口部份需再調整，如果只是影片中的出水口的噴水方式，很難將黏著在馬桶上的糞便清洗乾淨
3.連續使用情況下，能不能有一種機制會變成馬桶在使用完後會自己收起來(沖水)，然後在馬桶因一直在做收起放下的動作當中，是不是該做個緩衝設計，避免造成支持斷裂?
I would personally like to see the flushing process amplified so that it's a strong jet of water to force all the water into the sewer. Also, the folding idea has a lot of flaws that were mentioned earlier in the comments. Leaking sewer gas and the issue with clogs. It wouldn't be a pretty sight at all. This needs some serious rethinking and redesigning.

That whole assembly has to be removed to access the pipe if a drain snake is necessary at some point. Instead of two simple bolts and viola, pipe.

This toilet design, for its purpose, is clever BUT it is obvious from all but a very few toilet designs that the designers do not clean their bathrooms on a regular basis, including this 'revolutionary' one. There is no real need for there to be ANY floor space between the back of the base and the wall. Look at the dark wedge of space this one leaves, and imagine the fun you'll have trying to get it clean. You'll have to get down on your knees to do so. Male designers of toilets need to have their mothers vet them for easy-upkeep factors.
Great idea but there's too many moving parts. When this thing springs a leak you're going to have to hire a NASA engineer to fix it.

Great concept but I would have a problem with people leaving poop on the seat. Then smashing it up into that wall receiver yuk! You’d end up cleaning seat and wall receiver.

It's an idea worth working on further because space continues to be issue for architects designing urban homes...especially in densely populated metros across the world. I should think the designers will take in all these observations as they keep remodelling to meet users needs and taste. It's a novel design i think.

Well it DID save 6 inches of space when folded. You can use that extra space for tapping your foot when you stand in front of the sink. So anyone that plays a fiddle or banjo your really need one of these toilets when you have a hoedown or hootenanny in the bathroom.

A person on youtube posted a video on Italian folding commode. I liked that and searched on the internet but didn't find any information on it. Comment section was disabled on that video so I could not even ask anyone about that commode. Has anyone any information about that commode ? Because I want to buy it.

Not going to work. Guys pee on the seat and leave it there. Plus I don't want to wait for the toilet to rotate if I'm busting to go. Why mess with the toilet? It's my favourite invention, it's brilliant and I never stop being thankful for the sit down flushable toilet, good toilet paper and water pressure!

they took the classic toilet which is a very simple 1 piece design, and turned it into a complicated machine with moving parts, which actually solves no issue whatsoever. it is supposed to save water, but the construction of all these parts probably cause more polution anyway
and whats the point of saving space if you need to leave it empty for it to unfold anyway?
More space to move in when it's folded? Some people have toilet in bathroom and when you move there when doing laundry or preparing to bath, you will appreciate more space.
maybe it will help in some cases but it already has way too many disadvantages i think

It's not really "space saving" if it takes just as much space as a normal toilet would in its folded down, usable state. 🤨

It should empty itself when you fold it up to save water. it looks cool but it is a waste of money. why would you nee to save space in your bathroom? it's not like you're going to hang out with your friends in there and if you do then you're going to have to fold it down so they can sit on it.
another issue for cleanliness...when you pull down the seat you have to touch the actual seat itself, where people sit butt naked. at least put a handle or something.

It would make a disgusting mess! There is no hole in the floor for the poop to go down. I can't believe they forgot such a simple thing. Also, what is that dark speck on the domed water tank about 15 - 25 seconds in? I think it's poo that dropped out of the bowl!
