Probably too late for this but im only 7 min in and im losing my mind over here. all these new areas of levels i thought i knew, it feels like im dreaming. One of the biggest mysteries for me growing up was a few caves I could see in alaska that i still dont know how to get to 20+ years later. An all shortcuts vid would be legendary, ive been trying to find vids of prople geting to some of these places but its always either casual routes through the stage, or the same competitive line over and over again. cant wait to finish watching this tomorow.
Mate, ssx tricky, 3 and 2012 have been my entire life and I didn’t know about 90% of these things. Absolutely insane, it made me so unbelievably happy to watch this
This is going to be very, very interesting... only watched 3 minutes so far but I can tell this is gonna be great and will hopefully help a lot of players to come in the future. Great stuff Adam!
Thanks so much for posting this. Proud to say I knew MOST of these shortcuts, but still several new ones! Amazing to see that all these years later, this game still has a community.
sick video! learned a bunch, a lot of this stuff is just on a "if you know you know" basis, so glad there is a video documenting at least a large portion of it :)
Yep, took my PS2 out and replaying this gem with a more analytic approach (as a kid I wasn’t aware of certain shortcuts and quirks). This video is gold. Thank you!!
This video is awesome. It's been years since I've played, but I was absolutely obsessed at one point in time. I honestly felt like I stumbled across all the secrets this game had to offer, and got millions of points on various levels etc, but this video opened my eyes, and now I want to go back and play it again 😂😅
A truly awesome video. I loved every minute of this, and would love to see an all shortcuts video! I learned so much and saw so many new things that I've never seen in this game, and I've been playing it since it came out! Thank you for this detailed masterpiece!
but this game has a line which i have never heard anywhere in any other game. ''Call your mom in a room and show her how great you are'' hahhahahahah i mean, who and why thought that this should be included in a game XD this line is a masterpiece, i love it
Funniest line in the game. At the time I was a kid, didn’t understand English that well. Can only laugh when the line is delivered now that I’m an adult.
I grew up with this game and have played it on and off since I was a kid, and there's a LOT of things I never even knew about. Already with the first ice cave on Garibaldi, I was completely shocked I never knew about it. Fantastic video
It's definitely something Im gonna get to, but right now life is super busy so its a bit lower on the priority scale. People seem to like this video so I intend to make more tricky / SSX videos :)
Excellent video man! I’ve been playing this game for over 15 years now. Some of my best scores are Garibaldi: 3.3M, EA: 3.3M, Mesablanca: 2.4M, TM NFG: 3.5M, AIJ: 1.5M. I was wondering where you find the world records at? I remember this guy back in the day named Elgen, I think his channel name was Oriug at the time, he holds the WR for EA, MC, TM, and AIJ, 4.7M, 5.2M, 6.2M, and 2.1M respectively, but all these records were set over a decade ago. That guy was so far ahead of the times.
ah unfortunately elgen's scores were proven to be tas's this game has a history of tas runs being claimed to be legit WR (at least 3 different players). The current WR videos have been unlisted from youtube :( I wish they werent but they have been. There's casual talk of new score boards as there isn't really an easy way to calculate them atm. I am in favor of this. :O those are very nice scores! Do you have vods of runs? would love to see them!
@@twelvetides1037 God damn man, that makes me so sad 😞 were all of them TASs, like even his EA run of 4.7? I haven’t uploaded full runs, I do just have one clip on my channel of this Mercury City bounce I found near the start of the track to get the x3. I usually play this game a lot every year in the winter, and each year I tend to set new personal bests, so if I beat any of them I probably will upload the replay.
yes that would be awesome I can definitely look into that! I'll need to brush up on my ssx 3 first but I think I can make that happen :) It might take some time though as I'm about to go back to work, but there will be time eventually!
I knew about the wormhole in Elysium Alps for quite awhile, and I'm certain every character in World Circuit has used it, lol. I didn't know about the hidden multipliers under the start of that level. Now, in Tokyo Megaplex, you mentioned another way of finishing the race quickly, but it would be too difficult to pull off in a timely manner. Would that involve jumping onto the area outside of the top of the wind tunnel? I have no clue when I found out you could do so, but if you jump from the platform that the tunnel spits you out at and perform a Hand in Hand at a precise moment upon hitting the void plane, you'll bypass it and fall all the way back down to the finish, ending the race. I believe I've done this twice, and only on PS2. If it's been discovered already, please tell me who. I've never been able to find any info about it online, so for years I've figured I was the one who found it.
I've not heard of this if you can record it I'd love to see it though!! I was refering to this strat ua-cam.com/video/tB5rc-_rGFg/v-deo.htmlsi=-XU-SPD_YlrXvR2r
@@twelvetides1037 I've seen that strat before, but could never pull it off. I do still have the actual recording from when I pulled it off 10 years ago. I don't want to make you sit through a montage of failed attempts, and Vegas wouldn't display the video track, so I recorded the section from VLC Media Player. ua-cam.com/video/tHSYMgncSLY/v-deo.html
@@twelvetides1037 My response must not have gone through since I added a youtube link to my recording of it. But last week I did some testing of it on PCSX2 using save states for ease with setup as the easiest way is to grind a rail back to the top. From what I gathered, it must be a something to do with a specific frame of the Hand in Hand animation, as it can be performed with any character that knows that trick, and at any elevation above that surface. No clue if it works with any other trick. Works on emulator and on physical hardware. Can't be entirely random or one-off because like I said, any character with that trick can do it.

@@Mylittleponyplushies it’s a great question my knee jerk reaction is it probably won’t help due to the fact that Eddie has a relatively low jump height which probably hampers more than the worm trick helps! I’ll pass this along to kelecat who is the real expert in these matters

The fact that this game has some raw elements make it even more competetive. there is no luck elements, everything needs to be fully calculated.
There actually are some random elements to the game but they are very very very minor I should do a video on these things
