To say Trudy and Oscar are worse is an exaggeration. Yes they're far from perfect and yes there's been times when they weren't fair (getting Penny to babysit all the time and Oscar being hyper overprotective and overbearing), Penny acted like a straight up b**** to them! Trudy locking her out was going overboard, but other than that, Trudy usually is one of the most fair people in the show as well as the voice of reason ( and frankly I applaud her for not taking Penny's shit in this episode). The worst mistake parents can make is lack of discipline and going soft on their kids. Plus, there have been times where Penny has been one of the biggest hypocrites in the show, and she definitely deserved fair punishment for acting like a spoiled brat. Doing extra chores and grounding them from activities is how you teach disrespectful kids on how to be respectful.

For anyone saying that she should have gone to NYC or striked a deal to go, are the reason why kids now and days are rude AF. Growing up their parents gave them to many chances, or ways to get out of their punishments. This is why we have a teacher shortage because if they dont respect their parents then the definitely won't respect their teachers. Teachers list students behavior as one of the main reasons for quitting. Second is pay.
I understand your point of view, but to me, children need to feel loved more than they need to feel scared of their own parents. My parents would sit me down and talk to me about what I did wrong, and how I should move forward after I learned what I did wasn't right. Affectionate parenting isn't spoiling your child, it's teaching them that feeling loved is good, and that giving love to others makes people happy. I agree that a lot of parents don't discipline their children enough, but there are ways to do it and still make them feel safe and happy living with you.
Kicking your underage child out of the house before they're eighteen is abandonment. That night she was locked out of the house, she should have went to the cops for child abuse not Suga Mama's house. This whole episode is not good parenting and discipline, it's abuse and abandonment. They could have grounded her, taken her electronic, and made her do chores at home. She's being treated as a slave and being starved. All that work and no food really? In reality, this would break the family bond, at no point would the child be able to ever truly trust and love her family because they don't have her back, she's disposable. She's always in the back of her mind going to wonder if her house key works this time, if there is food, and she's definitely never going to believe anyone of them when they say 'i love you' not really. Not only that but the punishment has nothing to do with her crimes. She's not catching up on school work, because that's all back in the house she's can't get into. She still has her phone so she can still talk to her friends when ditching school was the root of the problem. This isn't teaching her work ethic because she's not being rewarded for hard work with even food. People in actual jail get to eat and some of them have killed people. Parental punishment should never involve basic things like food and a roof over the kids head. What's really crazy is that her mom and dad are the type to wonder why their daughter wants nothing to do with them when she's older. But this is Disney and they'll gloss over the abuse.

Growing up their parents gave them to many chances, or ways to get out of their punishments. This is why we have a teacher shortage because if they dont respect their parents then the definitely won't respect their teachers. Teachers list students behavior as one of the main reasons for quitting. Second is pay.
I understand your point of view, but to me, children need to feel loved more than they need to feel scared of their own parents. My parents would sit me down and talk to me about what I did wrong, and how I should move forward after I learned what I did wasn't right. Affectionate parenting isn't spoiling your child, it's teaching them that feeling loved is good, and that giving love to others makes people happy. I agree that a lot of parents don't discipline their children enough, but there are ways to do it and still make them feel safe and happy living with you.
Kicking your underage child out of the house before they're eighteen is abandonment. That night she was locked out of the house, she should have went to the cops for child abuse not Suga Mama's house. This whole episode is not good parenting and discipline, it's abuse and abandonment. They could have grounded her, taken her electronic, and made her do chores at home. She's being treated as a slave and being starved. All that work and no food really? In reality, this would break the family bond, at no point would the child be able to ever truly trust and love her family because they don't have her back, she's disposable. She's always in the back of her mind going to wonder if her house key works this time, if there is food, and she's definitely never going to believe anyone of them when they say 'i love you' not really. Not only that but the punishment has nothing to do with her crimes. She's not catching up on school work, because that's all back in the house she's can't get into. She still has her phone so she can still talk to her friends when ditching school was the root of the problem. This isn't teaching her work ethic because she's not being rewarded for hard work with even food. People in actual jail get to eat and some of them have killed people. Parental punishment should never involve basic things like food and a roof over the kids head. What's really crazy is that her mom and dad are the type to wonder why their daughter wants nothing to do with them when she's older. But this is Disney and they'll gloss over the abuse.
