THANK YOU!!!! I also have pack rat issues. After replacing my igniter, my Sta-Rite still wouldn’t light up. I almost called a technician but decided to check univ. of UA-cam first. I would’ve never considered the airflow as a problem, but my intake cover was also chewed so I tried your rock idea. OMFG, it actually works!!!! Thank you🎉
I have a Sta-rite 333 that starts up no problem but will only heat to 95° despite setting the unit at 101°. I tried manually turning the temperature up to 104°, still wouldn’t go past 95°. I’m frustrated as I just bought a new $3,000 pump. I had the same repairman take a look and he said there was rodent damage and the entire heater needed to be replaced. I can’t help but think it must be fixable, it turns on and heats to a certain extent! Any advice would be greatly appreciated
I go through one of these heaters, even with the HD cupronickel heat exchanger every 5 years. I'm always told this is because my water chemistry is not correct. This is BS as I keep my pool very well maintained. I'm not sure if this is just an inferior brand....or it's natural life span. Anyone have any ideas?
Hi Victor. Sounds as though you're way ahead of me. I use a pool guy. After this Stayrite died, I replaced it with a Hayward. It's only 2yo so too new to know much about quality so far.
One day, that thing is just going to explode and lift ten feet off its pad, Hopefully you wont be in the landing zone. What day does the garbage truck come by?

I have one of these that won't turn on at all after being fine at close. No lights or anything. Any suggestions?

Fortunately, I have since replaced that sta-rite with a new Hayward 400. 😊
One rat house for a new rat house. might want to spend the extra money for a professional, and professional opinion.
