learning this piece for myself at the moment from scratch, It is even more impressive to hear all that nuances and differences, you put in - really wonderful to listen at, thank you for sharing it with us.
I play it slow and fast like you I add an extra finger technique and a couple of glisse for fun...Fun song to play...I made my own harp and named him Vincent. He sounds lovely every day . He has matured with a nice belly and sounds great.
I think the Musicmakers Gothic harps tend to sound full and rich whereas many Celtic harps sound very bright. The string tension is lighter on a Gothic as well.
Also most gothic harps are equipped with bray pins which create a very distinctive sound somewhere between a harpsichord and a sitar. Very unique! So yes, much different than the Celtic harp. Also- some Celtic harps, like the Clarsach, are wire strung which produces an incredibly bright tone. The gothic harp’s tone is much softer and lighter. Both amazing instruments.
Hi Stephanie, I am so impressed with your arrangement although I am just a beginner, I would love to try your music sheet. Is it available to buy? please advice me. Thank you
Thank you! My arrangement of the Star of the County Down has changed a bit over the years, but a very similar version is available in my book "The Road Home from Skye" available through Mel Bay. The book is geared towards intermediate/advanced intermediate, but this is one of the more accessible pieces in it!
Thank you. I suppose I have to learn for some more time to reach intermediate. But I still wish to have the music sheet for this song to try. I listen nearly everyday as I feel a healing effect when I hear it. Thanks for your arrangement Stephanie!
Beautiful. Thank you for posting. 🙏
This is a joy to play
Thank you
Lovely arrangement! And what a great sounding harp!

Knowing nothing about harps, can I ask what "matured with a nice belly" means?
Yes ?

Hey Stephanie as far as sound and tone quality is the Gothic harp any different then the Celtic Harp?
