All new vans now have compression fridges there well better I would recommend a solar panel 80 to 100 watt is enough for fridge and living room. This van is great

You pretty much made a camper just like I want! Shame I could never afford one of course haha The roof is very nice, I haven't seen such before but really makes the whole much more usable.
Why aren't all pop-top roofs like this - instead of the usual claustrophobic sloping versions? Even better were the old Autosleeper solid sided elevating roofs.....be great if you could incorporate that style - but I guess they've not been available for a long time.

Nice video, nice van. Can you sit on the bench seat with the roof down and can you cook with the roof down? We have a VW California and have had to drop the roof in stormy weather. Why is the raising roof so slow to open, maybe make it manual instead. And the top kitchen storage would be better as drawers. I think you would get fed up constantly getting on your knees to look inside.

What a perfect build. I LOVE the roof lifter. Being able to stand up inside is such a big and needed luxery. My questions are about this. I see the video is a year old. Is the roof wind and water proof when you create it this way? No air getting in while driving with a closed roof. Or rain while driving with a closed roof? Are you not cutting trough beams (strength) of the car when creating the hole? Did you make the roof cover yourself or is it some kind of standard one can buy somewhere? Thank you for the video. I just bought a fiat doblo maxi cargo yesterday. Never intended to make a mini camper out of it but after your video I am getting exited :)

@@jonwallace7015 no idea. I left the job a couple of years ago, very soon after making this comment. I’m sure the the diabolical doblos are out of service by now. I’m not anti Fiat (as a lot of people are). Years ago I owned a MK1 Fiat Punto and it was one of the nicest cars I’ve ever owned. Practical, nippy, extremely reliable and low maintenance.

A beautifully created camper but how does it fare under DVLA regulations which apparently no longer allow extending roof conversions and require an extendable sun blind on one side? There is obviously a way around this as a number of manufacturers are still using this format but the regulations and what is currently being placed on the road seem at variance.
Sending a camper to a vosa test station, they don't use the same rules as those set out by dvla just to simply change a log book. They test mainly protruding objects outside the vehicle and seat belts etc hope this helps 👍 and many thanks for watching

Unfortunately swivel bases can't be fitted to this vehicle due to the cab being lower than the conversion height. Hopefully a company will make them for this kind of vehicle so that the front cab seats can be incorporated into the lounge area 👍 many thanks for watching.
As someone who used a Fiat Amigo back in 1985 I enjoyed this. My only query is why bother with the complexity of an electric roof? Is it not possible to simply use gas struts? Is it because there would be no easy way to get the roof back down, given that it's horizontal?

Beautiful conversion. Can I ask a couple of questions please. Is the van a Doblo LWB? Also when the bed is down can a porta potty go at the side.of the fridge - I assume fron passenger seat could.pull forward a bit but would the loo be accessible to use whilst the beds down in that sort of scenario? Also other thing was - where.did you get the roof kit from? Wondering the costs involved with that also? Would you put the roof down whilst sleeping or leave open? Does it matter? Thank you.
Hi yes the van is a LWB, yes the loo can fit at the end of the kitchen when the bed is out and also the passenger seat could pull forward to give you more room. The roof is something I designed and made myself for this project. It can stay up and come down whilst sleeping obviously depending on weather conditions as with an lift up roof. I wanted one of these badly enough that I bought one new. Unfortunately the only one available to me is an American version. The driveline was garbage. The transmission can never pick a gear. It shifts constantly and harshly. I got a class action lawsuit settlement letter from the manufacturer with a $4500 coupon towards another purchase. The engine lost another lawsuit for excess oil consumption. If it were available in the U.S. with the engine and transmission you have, I would buy another one. I traded mine in after 2 years.

Excellent conversion is it possible to do the same for a Skoda Yeti 4x4 fitted with a panoramic sliding roof?
The most amazing thing about this Doblo is that he’s able to get it into gear and actually drive it.

Where does the motor part of the refrigerator provide air flow?
Space is at a premium on such a small vehicle yet few have swivelling front seats. In my view it's a major omission on a vehicle this size.
