This movie is a great representation of how Innocent people suffer the consequences of poweful people with little to no empathy. War is the best representation of how far human stupidity can go, and the levels of destruction it can cause.

Grave of the fireflies and this one are so similar. Stealing food, bombing, shelters, 2 kids trying to survive this on the best way they can and failed. At least Gen and his new sidekick didn't die unlike the other 2 kids in Grave of the fireflies. They just die in the beginning.
