In the early 90's I became friends with the Sergeant-At-Arms of the local Pagans chapter. He told me what life was like in the club, the restrictions, the BS, the backstabbing. It damn sure isn't something I want to be part of.

I have a theory that calling these people Brothers is the mistake.
My blood brother is a pain in the a$$, and I often deal with his personal drama... so, why would I want adopted brothers? There's got to be a better word.
When you take someone in as your brother, their personal problems become your problems.
I want good friends to ride with. Not brothers.

It's great you show both sides. Some well-meaning person may want to find a bunch of guys to pal around with and share a love for the open road, but before long, they realize that they're not cut out for the life. They may end up hanging around longer than they should because they're hoping things might somehow turn around. What you featured is just the reality in some clubs. They should probably just stay on their own or just ride with some close friends. I always learn something new every episode.

My uncle was a Bandito, wore colors until the day he died of cancer. They hung around family gatherings and were always the first ones to offer a hand for anything. Even helped pay for his funeral. Curious what he would think of my career of law enforcement. I've had a handful of encounters with different clubs on the street, never bad. Just exchange waves, open up lanes for them while going through big wrecks and brief conversations at gas stations. The respect has always gone both ways, don't ask stupid questions, don't pry on business and don't act like billy badass. Had a super green rookie that was really close to having a bad day with a pack of banditios by asking questions he had no business asking.

Great insight my guy.... these issues resonate with every club man... it's human nature to have these problems. But I try and look at the positive. 99% of my time spent with the club is a good time even though I may not want to go to an event.... like tomorrow for instance, I'm burning and turning up to Jersey and back. I grew up around bikers my whole life, and both times I got married, it was to a bikers daughter. But I’ve never felt the need to join a club myself. I’ve got all the friends and loved ones I want, and have no need to grant anyone any kind of authority over me. I’ve hung out with 1%’s before, and they’re just people to me. Some good, some bad, but for the most part if you just be respectful, you’ll never have any issues. And that goes for pretty much everyone you’ll ever meet.

This represents most organizations that include human beings. I learned a couple of great lessons from an old pastor of mine that fit well here.
Lesson 1. You have exactly 30 seconds to be offended. After that, it’s time to get on with business. When people get offended, it’s not because the other person was offensive. It’s because they chose to get offended. There’s no room for that shit.
Lesson 2. The minute someone starts bringing up shit about another person, you stop the conversation and go and get that other person. That stops 90 percent of the backstabbing. The other ten percent probably represents real issues that matter, and can be taken up with the people involved and some officers if need be.
Those are the main things I take with me when I’m with my MO brothers and sisters. I’m there for the cause, and to be a part of adding strength to a great organization. The day I can’t follow either of those lessons, I’m out, because I’ve obviously lost the heart to be there for the right reason.
These are hard things to do, and can cause you to be looked at as an outsider by some. But that’s fine with me, because people know not to tell me things about other people that will drag me into a bunch of shit I don’t need

I commend and respect the ones who become a club or 1% member. A lot of time and sacrifices made to get the results they are looking for. I ride alone by choice, but you should understand the road rules when you see a 3 piece vest. Ride safe, be smart. THE ROW FOR LIFE.

If you can stay outta politics, stay away from disagreeing with people, stay loyal, realize you’re a part of a family and all families have hardships, don’t be scared to speak up, don’t take sides outside of your own convictions, control your dick, don’t let greed get to you, appreciate what loyalty can bring, have your own lane that you take serious enough to get ahead, be prepared to share what you earn because you are your brothers keeper through thick and thin, pay no mind to anything other than your collective goals on top of what you got going on for yourself, don’t pocket watch, don’t numbers watch… you good.

The reasons you have touched on is exactly why I've never been interested in even expressing interest in attempting to join a club. I get told where to be and what to do every working day of my life. While I admire those who can commit themselves to a club, I'll be damned if I'll live like that. I ride when and where and with whomever I choose. While also accepting and respecting the space of actual club members. If a club has something going on at a bar that I frequent and they don't want me around, I'll just say yall take it easy and go somewhere else. The mc world is theirs and I have nothing to offer it.

Forgive me, but there are times I think there should be no property patches on women. The club should just let a brother decide if she can be at events or not....some of us get sick and tired of the female petty bs. Stay safe Sose, all my love and blessings to you❤

Only thing i like about some of the clubs in Detroit, is how they have open club night invite for riders for fundraisers BBQ's and raffles and the runs they put together for certain concerns that affect everyone like cancer and other reasons. They asked if you'd like to patch they never are pushy some of the guys are cool like the master mechanic for bikes and paint body guys that you can have work on your ride. But i am a solo guy i cannot commit because of my lifestyle and job. They see your face around and they are cool with you.

Main rule of joining a 1% hang around, hang around some more, hang around more, analyze the club in a way that doesn't draw attention to you. This process can take up to years before you get the prospect rocker. Look at how prospects and veteran hang arounds operate and learn from them again not drawing attention to yourself. The vite to fully patch you in will not be known before but at a time youll least expect it. Before you do any of this please pkease understand the 1% culture.

i kinda agree wit no pictures no face no case! and with rico the most unconstitutional case law being pushed on bikers a picture can jam you up.. seems like a lot of these problems can be avoided if you got stand up brothers who enjoy being togethor and riding togethor

I don't club, but I I'm acquainted with people who do. I know of a situation where a patch was starting to maneuver against his P because of the P's ole lady.
P knocked her off of her pedestal, and filed papers, to save his club. The patch starting to move against him became his most loyal supporter.
Moral of the story: if mama ain't 💯 with you wearing a patch you better decide what's more important.

This is why the prospect process is so important, it takes time for the mental process to take place. It's not me, but we. Everything you do reflects on your brothers. The patch comes before any of your Nickle and dime bullshit.

My Uncle was a Hells Angel the one thing he didn't like, if one brother got caught up everyone had to go in on bailing them out and paying for an attorney.

I thank God that i never went that route, a few of my brother's did and we had a Crew in jail and ended up pretty tight with a couple of the 1% J.C (jail crews) but yeah never nommed and having brothers that have and hearing first hand some of the politics nah not for me.

I joined an LE MC but the national president founder and senior leaders were a bunch of freakin weirdo cops, focused on member numbers, money, and merchandising. I was glad to ride away from those clowns. I ride with local clubs or solo now. Much better.

I've never been in an MC, but have known people who are/were. From what I've heard from them, and from you, it sounds like being a member of an MC is like Newton's third law of physics: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. If you don't have the permission of your MC for any action you take or make, you aren't going to have anyone backing you when the inevitable reaction catches up to your sorry a**. I once thought about joining an MC but I don't like politics and I like to be able to talk to (and not) who I choose. I decided it was better for me to not join any clubs. I know a lot of people in clubs that are like brothers to me but decided it wasn't for me.
