    Very nicely done my friend!
    It’s nice to see a plate carrier review/setup from a patrol leo as opposed to swat specific or military. My agency also allows to carry a plate carrier setup and I run something similar to you. Once again very nicely done.

    Good job on your first vid man. LE seems to put alot of wear on their gear almost immediately and my biggest concern was wearing this for 8+ hours. Keep up the good work fella.

      Thanks, I appreciate the input! No kidding, I’ve broken and ripped a lot of things on duty. I wear this for 10 hour shifts 4 times a week and for a ton of that time being while seated, it’s pretty comfy as far as plate carriers with ceramic plates inside go. So far I haven’t ripped or snagged anything! Thanks for watching!

    Great review! I currently run the Ferro Concepts FCPC v5. Thinking of giving the Throax a try due to shoulder straps being more widely spaced. Thank you for your service!

    • @SabertoothDefenseSystems
      @SabertoothDefenseSystems  2 роки тому +1

      I will say I’m a big fan of the shoulder straps, very comfortable, and I like how they don’t slip or slide around. I will say though I actually appreciate the shoulder straps being closer in, staying out of the way of rifle stocks. But nonetheless a great carrier. I use mine to this day and it’s held up under a ton of abuse

    Hey man great video, i was just wondering how tall you were and your body shape considering you got a medium, as long as you don’t mind answering of course. I’ve been looking at getting a Thorax PC but have been confused about the sizing. Thanks

      No problem. I’m about 5,10ish and medium build around 180ish lbs. The medium fits me perfectly. Hope that helps!

    Good video, I would like to see your belt setup as well. Anyways, it’s fortunate your department/agency allows you to wear plate carriers. My city’s department/agency allows external outer vests as well but not plate carriers (too “militarized” but hey it’s better than having everything on your belt which sucks) like shown in this video. Also my city’s department/agency still utilizes wooden batons and I rarely see any ASP batons.

    • @SabertoothDefenseSystems
      @SabertoothDefenseSystems  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks for watching, glad you liked the video. A duty belt review is absolutely in the works and will probably be posted tomorrow. I agree, the whole reason I went to the outer carrier was due to having everything on my belt, which sucked big time when it comes to getting in and out of my patrol car, and then having one side of my hips being numb after work due to all the weight. Dang! That’s hardcore! To be fair, I don’t even carry my baton… it’s mandated but… eh. I’ve never used it. Flashlights break windows just as efficiently.

    ordered my vest before seeing this video like you said no reviews on this vest out there. thanks for posting. i did get the D3CRM Micro for my primary mag holder attached to the vest. was wondering why you said you didn't like it?

    • @SabertoothDefenseSystems
      @SabertoothDefenseSystems  2 роки тому +2

      Hey man glad you found the video. Hope it was informative. Honestly HSP did a great job with all the informative videos about it prior to its release. About the Micro: I ran that on my velocity LEPC for that first year on patrol and it did everything I needed it to do. The only thing I didn’t like was the stitching on the elastic pistol mag pouches on the sides began to fray and at one point tore on me in the beginning of one of my shifts after some digging around in the back of a tweaker car. In the beginning I liked having the big admin pouch on the front, but after using it for a while and not needing the pouch anymore, I had no way to remove it and I felt like it was extra pouch I didn’t need and wasn’t using. Honestly it’s not a bad micro rig, it’s actually quite good! It just wasn’t what I needed and wasn’t exactly how I wanted it for my particular application.

    Hell they said my L210 plates wouldnt fit a medium carrier. Good know that they do fit. Good vid.

    • @SabertoothDefenseSystems
      @SabertoothDefenseSystems  2 роки тому

      They’ll definitely fit. It’ll be a bit tight at first and will take a bit of wiggling them in and getting them centered, but they work fine in mine!

  • @geckrhea8185

    U said ur using 10x12 plates, so ur thorax plate carrier is a size large? Does it fit snug on u?

    • @SabertoothDefenseSystems
      @SabertoothDefenseSystems  Рік тому +1

      So I actually got the medium thorax and my 10x12 plates fit in fine. It’s snug because I like it that way, but I can easily loosen it up! But I’m also using L210 plates which are thinner than standard level IV plates, so keep that in mind

      @SabertoothDefenseSystems ok cuz i recently got my medium sized thorax plate carrier and my voodoo tactical 10x12 sapi plates seems like theyre too big.

  • @voodoo2GPC

    Solid video! Only thing I'll say is on the taser setup. If the bottom of that pouch is soft and that taser somehow deploys in that pouch (malfunction or whatnot, rare but it has happened), the barbs will go right through the fabric on the bottom. Best case, you're standing and they hit the ground. Worst case, you're sitting and they hit your leg. I'd recommend getting one of those zero9 kydex holsters and mounting it inside that pouch somehow just to cover your bases and keep yourself from having a bad day. Watched this and your belt review and it looks like some solid kit otherwise. Keep it up and stay safe

    I get wanting the extra protection, but man that has to get heavy wearing plates all day. Not sure how hard it is to insert a plate, but maybe wear the soft armor and insert the front plate if you’re going to a call where you think you’ll need rifle protection.
    I’m sure you’re strong enough, but save your back and body. Mind you this is from a guy who has to wear plates in my unit all day 50+ hours a week. That being said we try not to wear them unless necessary. Good luck and stay safe 🤙🏻

    • @SabertoothDefenseSystems
      @SabertoothDefenseSystems  2 роки тому

      Absolutely, there’s plenty of good points there. I do it because I have the opportunity to actually wear one on duty without even needing to think about tossing one on in the event of an emergency call requiring rifle protection. But yeah absolutely, I know a few guys that have some chilling in the trunk ready to be donned in that kind of situation. Thanks for watching!

    They did include the info for the sizing. You just have to scroll to the right more a see the other side suggestions

    • @SabertoothDefenseSystems
      @SabertoothDefenseSystems  2 роки тому +1

      My apologies for not clarifying. It has the info for sizing, but doesn’t show the dimensions of plates. It just said whether it took Medium or Large plates. The reason it was confusing is they’re selling Defendr Armor Plates with them. Go to Defendr’s website and see the sizing options for any plate type and you’ll see multiple dimension options, none of which simply called Medium or Large.

    I work private security, so I don’t have any LE experience. However, I had my OC setup on my carrier but I came across the thought “god forbid I get shot, and it hits my spray would it disperse everywhere?” Now granted, the chances of that happening? Slim, but I dunno. Your thoughts?

    • @SabertoothDefenseSystems
      @SabertoothDefenseSystems  2 роки тому +1

      Always good to think about it, but if something hits me in the chest… my problems are now worse🤷🏻‍♂️ Because regardless of wearing plates, the wind is gonna get knocked out of me and I’m probably gonna have bruised ribs.. OC will make it worse but at that point at least I’m not dead🤷🏻‍♂️ Just my point of view! Thanks for watching!

    • @SabertoothDefenseSystems
      @SabertoothDefenseSystems  2 роки тому +1

      Definitely a great vest! Yeah I’m not sure either, I think I saw somewhere that their mentality was that if need be, it was better just to grab one of your shoulder straps and drag you that way… but beats me🤷🏻‍♂️. Thanks for watching!

      @@SabertoothDefenseSystems I can answer that. It’s a obvious grab point and LE advisors to HS didn’t add it in case they get hands on with a aggressive person. It’s apparently been an issue in the past.

      Nothing says you can’t have a plate carrier in your trunk and ready to go. I use to do the same in patrol. We aren’t allowed plate carriers, but I had one ready in the trunk. If it came down to getting in trouble to protect myself better, then I’ll take the suspension.
