How would modern machinery fare in the Long Hockenheimring? - What We've Lost

- Have you ever stopped to think how F1 has been shedding races left, right, center, up and down? No race in Germany since 2019 (OK, 2020 technically), France is gone since 2022, Malaysia dropped out after 2017, you wouldn't remember Turkey were it not for Red Bull antics and it's short return in 2020 and 2021. Whatever the reasons (not just money), we don't race there anymore. With the power of sim racing, these tracks live on. And I wonder ... F1 has evolved since we left these tracks. Sometimes a bit, sometimes A LOT. Ever wondered what could modern (well, "modern", cars could be up to 5 years old in this series) machinery could do on those forgotten or lost tracks? Only one way to find out!

Damn that spontaneously came into my feed, you've made it hahaha
I'm not used to being this high, it kinda awesome.
Its a lot closer than i thought. Makes me think how fast something like the F2004 would be at old Hockenheim.
Thats why I hate modern F1. Street circuits sucks except the clasics of course . F1 needs to return in Germany and France
Do you "hate" modern F1 while still watching it?? Maybe you are just a pathetic little boy complaining because the world has changed and you don't like it 😂
Absolutely. Heck, there are good street circuits out there. Adelaide is fun, even if the current cars might be a bit too long for it.
I can’t like this comment enough.
people still play f1c? interesting choice nowadays with sims like assetto corsa around but i respect it, game's good
Yeah, F1C is still around and kicking, the modding community keeping it alive. I would have preferred to use Assetto Corsa, but my PC would not have liked it, would have undergone nuclear fission.
@@jose21crisisMShaha i can relate to that, my laptop is bad too but with tweaks it runs ac at 30 fps most of the time
I wonder if it will be even faster with the SF-90 from 2019
wow, the gain in last sector was huge
Absolutely, that's the wonders of having so much downforce despite the tiny wings.
Now! The last question open would be what happens if you put Pirellis tyres on the Williams FW12?
Is it on par with the Mercedes with or without DRS or somewhere in between?
I ... actually hadn't thought about putting slicks on the Williams.
*takes notes*
That will be an interesting test which I'm also curious about.
It wouldn't be in the calendar anyways
What even is this 'What We've Lost' series? What is it about? What did we lose?
The basic concept is comparing modern machinery to older cars in tracks that "we've lost", tracks that won't be raced at again because, say, they don't exist anymore (like this version of Hockemheimring), wouldn't be able to take the economic hit of hosting races (like the modern Hockemheimring), are out in the middle of nowhere (like Magny-Cours), among other reasons. All in all, a showcase of modern cars in old tracks.

Ah, [REDACTED]. Thanks for the correction.
