Agreed, he was hardly in it. Would have loved to seen more of him vs. Storm Shadow.
@@Eternalclassic "more of" , you mean any of since there was almost zero interaction except the revenge of cobra opener. the only time they're in the same scene together in the episodes is in "cobra's candidate" where storm shadow reads buzzer a letter while snake eyes and other joes are locked up. a shame their background was ignored in the sunbow cartoon especially since the 1985 figure's filecard mentioned their connection. and also a shame snake eyes was not featured more in the cartoon.
however he did get more time in the cartoon than other early characters such as rock n roll and stalker.
The reason he wasnt used as much as others is because he didn't talk. It was hard for producers to find ways to work him in

Agreed. I think the writers at the time didn't know how to utilize a mute character in a cartoon show. Or they were not a fan of Snake Eyes. Such a damn shame.
One thing I love about the old animated series is that a match between Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow never happened. The comparison of strength between these two ninjas (if Snake Eyes was originally a ninja) only happened in our imagination... and that can be more motivating than watching a fight with some concrete triumph

@@EternalclassicI think I might have posted a similar comment somewhere before. Honestly though while I agree that Snake Eyes was underused and should have had more time where he was important to a story (instead of a background character) and especially should have had SOME interaction with Storm Shadow besides the Revenge of Cobra opener (I think had there been a 1987 season of Sunbow focusing on the movie characters and the other characters of that year who didn't show in the movie that they probably would have said something about it, had they done a story focusing on Jinx being Storm Shadow's cousin and maybe show Storm Shadow defecting Cobra to join the Joes),
I do think that Snake Eyes DID get some decent enough treatment from Sunbow especially in the miniseries.
Snake Eyes certainly did get better treatment than most of the first cartoon Joes (aside from Duke and Scarlett and Gung Ho), such as Stalker who appeared much less in the cartoon and whose only big moment in the entire cartoon both Sunbow and DIC was Operation Dragonfire ("SHUT UP, Stalker!" -Sgt. Slaughter)

There's a scene where Snake Eyes saves Duke from a trap in the jungle. I can't seem to find the episode. It features Recondo. Duke is mad Snake Eyes disobeyed his orders

@@Eternalclassic The movie was rereleased? I think I did read something online about a week ago about it will be shown in theaters but even as a lifelong fan I can't imagine many non-fans would see it. It might be neat to see both the opening sequence and the part where Serpentors snake bites Duke in the chest on a big screen but even then I wouldn't care to see it in a theater.
