    Lyrics
Keep looking through the window pane
Just trying to see through the pouring rain
Its hearing your name, hearing your name
I really never felt quite the same
Since I've lost what I had to gain
No one to blame, no one to blame
Seems to me, can't turn back the hands of time
Oh, it seems to me, can't turn back the hands of time
Keep looking through the window pane
Just trying to see through the pouring rain
Its hearing your name, hearing your name
I really never felt quite the same
Since I've lost what I had to gain
No one to blame, no one to blame
Seems to me, can't turn back the hands of time
Oh, it seems to me, can't turn back the hands of time
Seems to me, can't turn back the hands of time
Seems to me, history was left behind

How old are you now yo?
It’s tough man, time is that one thing once gone, spent, wasted, whatever, it can’t be replaced like money, possessions, just memories now yo, and whether you are aware of it now but he’s with your ancestors and if you think I’m talking shit, just shut up and listen (sorry, not meant aggressively), but listen to the winds and remember this message from some random stranger from Aus yo… 🖤✌🏽☺️

"We can't turn back the hands of time", true, but whenever we listen to this beyond-classic masterpiece, we sure can slow them down some. Unbelievable song.
This song seems like it must be so much older than it is ... real nostalgia, but it is 'new'. And it is impossible to listen to it just once.
Thank you, Groove ... and RIP Richie Havens.

He did Freedom with so much passion, the wind is still carrying it aloft somewhere today!
From an NPR article in 2004, Santana was really, really late -
"By that time, Havens had been onstage almost three hours - and still they needed more. "And I thought, 'Gosh, what am I going to do?'"
Then he belted out "Freedom," and his electric ad-lib performance set the tone for the next three days. "The word 'freedom' came out of my mouth because this was our real particular freedom," he tells Cox. "We'd finally made it to above ground."

I saw Richie live for the first time in 1974,Richmond VA and full concert at the Birchmere in 2007. Also caught him a few times in Taos , NM when he would do impromptu appearances for friends there in the summer. He always gave good performances and was always high...like most of the people who were there to watch him. Very interesting guitarist and when he spoke it sounded like he was reading poetry...which in a way he was...speaking poetry that is. Today's world could use another Richie Havens......if we just turn back the hands of time......

This is a beautiful song and I really love to listen to him. 1969 when he sang Freedom I was hooked on his voice. 🥰

The vibe of this piece sets me back so far I feel myself sinking through my chair. Haven's voice is superb, setting the tone and feel of the song while absolutely owning it.

@@msbevins101 I happened to see him at a folk festival in central NY. I went with a friend who was into that type of fetival but I wasn't so much. Didn't know what to expect and it was so so for me. I was thinking I'd rather be back home doing something else, then Richie came up. I didn't even know he was in the lineup. Man I instantly felt comfortable, an at home feeling. That's my place. That really made the trip all worth it.
To me it was like the festival was happening around Him.

@@msbevins101 indeed. One of my favorite musicians passed on years ago and I never saw him live. After that I make it a point to go out and see at least one great artist playing live every year. I have since seen many greats. That loss caused a place to grow for me. Hoping you get out to see some greats.
