    Fast forward 14 years, the old Westgate has in fact been refurbrished for a while now and looks much more lively. Used to go to that ice rink and the college ages ago but it still looks the same. There's still room for so much more improvements.

    Never-mind the Ice-rink and college, they have their own kind of beauty. That multi-story car park should never have been built and as was said the escalators never worked and it was nearly derelict by 1980. Glad to see it has now gone.

      Indeed, I lived in St Ebbes from '87-93 and I don't think we ever saw the escalators working in the Car Park! I love St Ebbes, though now a Londoner, Oxford born and raised! StEP! [St Ebbes Posse!]

    Due to the so called 'Glass Ceiling' imposed on women and black architects in the UK ... UK architecture's glaring ethnic imbalance, where only two per cent 2% of the UK's practicing architects come from black and ethnic backgrounds Black architects just don't get the jobs in the UK ... Only 12 per cent of architects are women.
