"One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This" is such a perfect title, perfectly encapsulates what I've been thinking and combined with the cover really hits hard. I'm looking forward to the release.
A dragon book you could try is Guards! Guards! from Terry Pratchett. One of the best writers of his time. Humorous, thought-provoking, and just all around enjoyable.
Glad to see Omar El Akkad in this list, I’m also really looking forward to reading his perspective on Palestine and how people treat events in the moment vs after the fact. Hope many of these books become 5 stars for you!
Agreed about the raven boys graphic novel!! I'm so keen for it but scared to see what will have been cut especially cause the page count is about 256 pages 😅 Maggie has said it's the first of a full series adaptation which feels a little crazy but I'm so excited 🎉🎉
The Baby Dragon Cafe looks so cute!! For your dragon blog you should definitely pick up Fireborne by Rosaria Munda, it's so good and I feel like it will be right up your alley!
If you do end up doing a dragon vlog, I highly recommend "A Natural History of Dragons" by Marie Brennan. Think Emily Wilde, but less cozy and more badass Victorian. It's a very underrated series!
Yes, Charlotte McConaghy!!! Auto buy for me, I'm here for anything she writes. If you like her writing, you will prob love Adrift by Brideau - also near-future climate fiction (set in BC) centred on a mystery, but very thoughtful (not as literary as McConaghy, but still atmospheric). Came out last year, just won an award.... Also here for Omar El Akkad's forthcoming - thanks for boosting word about that; important topic that deserves spotlight.
If you have to do a dragon vlog, I definitely think you should make it your own 🐉 Love that idea and The Baby Dragon Cafe sounds adorable and maybe ridiculous
I was mostly listening to this video while working. So when you listed a bunch of authors at number 10, I recognized all except for Kate folk. I went back to see what book that was and SKY DADDY popped up. Well, first I gagged, then learned everything there is to know about the book and now all I can say is I’m waiting for april 2025 and the day I see that cover on your thumbnail 🙏
She mentioned it in her “books coming out in 2025” video - i don’t remember the actual title - I believe and as soon as I saw that cover I put it on my list as well.
Her short story collection, Out There, is weird af and amazing. 5 stars. I read it after Kayla read it in a vlog if you want to go back and find it! Should be from 2022 if memory serves me correctly.
@@kate-ne I found it on the stopping the vlog if I hate the book video!! She compared it to how high we go in the dark, so I’ve added it to my TBR. I am glad to now know where this came from!
all the trc graphic novels are gonna change my life i can already tell. i am locked into this series for the rest of time. it is all i think about and it is all i will ever think about.
Oh my gosh DRAGONS!!! You could do the Tea Dragon Society, You Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea, The Fireborne Blade, I’m Afraid You’ve Got Dragons, or even dare I say, The Priory of the Orange Tree.
Calling a character Saphira in a dragon book feels like a weird choice. That name is the main dragon in Paolini's series, which is surely one of the most popular dragon series out there even now.
I gave Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy a high rating a while back but it kind of sent me into a bit of a negative mental spiral lol so I have been too afraid to pick up Once There Were Wolves yet 😅 To continue adding to the dragon peer pressure, if you're going the cute cozy route, you should definitely try The Tea Dragon Society. Even if you don't like it (and considering it is a graphic novel/illustrated book, this is a big possibility), it is a very quick read so you won't feel like you've wasted too much time on it. Hope you're feeling better after your reaction!
i trust the trb graphic novel will be good, Sas' art is just so perfect and gorgeous and it's absolutely the correct vibe for the series and the characters and i know it will look amazing and just be right❤ I've been her fan for like 10 years and when they announced this i was so excited her art really will perfectly recreate the magic and the atmosphere of the series. it is 256 pages though so scenes being cut is inevitable i think but i also trust that it won't be anything too important or well loved? i would totally read a 400 page version though as I'm sure most fans would lol
My "safe 5-star predictions" are Charlotte McConaghy's and R.F. Kuangs new books too. Also A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennet, Shroud by Adrian Tchaikovsky and Owning It: Tales from Our Disabled Childhoods by Jen Campbell: all authors I love and trust. As for wildcards: I'm hoping to love Overgrowth by Mira Grant (rocky relationships with McGuire/Grants previous works), The Lamb by Lucy Rose (debut author, but I LOVED her story in the collection She's Always Hungry) and Beta Vulgaris by Margie Sarsfield (because "Mona-Awad-like tale of woman spiraling into destructive behaviour when working as a beetroot-harvester, sounds like the kind of weird-thing that is either a 1 or a 5-stars...)
For The Raven Boys graphic novel content...Just an idea...go watch some fan accounts for The Wheel of Time. They can turn looking at one photo into an hour long live show LOL and us fans eat it up. There's also lots of discussion about the differences between the books and the adaptation.
If a graphic novel doesn't have the volume or book number, it should be "complete". So that Raven Boys GN sounds like an adaptation of the entirety of The Raven Boys. I remember the Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief graphic novel crammed the whole book in a few pages, so many scenes were cut and it had that superhero-comic-book-style condensed storytelling where the whole beat was action-action-action. I don't really read graphic novels with that style, and the artist adapting TRB seems to have very atmospheric storytelling, since I've seen their art around. Maybe if you can get a preview of the first few pages, you'll see if it's up your alley.
I can't predict my own taste either. Did my "most-anticipated" book list last year and I some of them were 5 stars but the majority of them I just lost interest completely. And I also hate making tbrs because I never stick to them 💀 I'm too much of a mood reader to pull something like that off
I am pretty certain you haven't mentioned this one in any of your anticipated release videos, but I think another good consideration for you that I know I'm excited about is The Burial Tide by Neil Sharpson who wrote Knock Knock Open Wide. It has more Irish folklore AND it takes place on an island 😃 Also I love these videos because even if they don't work out to be 5 stars, I find that some of my favorite books come from books you have loved or are also excited about 🫶🏻

100% agree!
Omg, you KNOW the title of that dragon book was originally “How to train your baby dragon” and several friends had to change that author’s mind.
Cute dragon book and a graphic novel on the list? Maybe The Tea Dragon Society would be a good option for that vlog!
😂😂😂
oh this is a huge win for dragon vlog truthers
WE WIN WE GET THE DRAGON VLOG!
Left you some recs on the Werewolves vlog, you know, just in caaaase
Hoping so hard that 2025 is full of
five star abundance for you bestie!!!!!!!

i’ll be honest i think she will
YES please!!! 🙏
Wait “The Baby Dragon Cafe” looks adorable 🥹

💜💜💜 So excited for The Raven Boys graphic novel!!!
That little jumble of titles and book covers at the end made me very excited for 2025 books!
The Baby Dragon Cafe looks so cute!! For your dragon blog you should definitely pick up Fireborne by Rosaria Munda, it's so good and I feel like it will be right up your alley!
I have been unreasonably excited for Eat the Ones You Love for what feels like forever I need it
yayy for the dragon vlog!!
Loooove the idea of doing a dragon vlog but with unconventional dragon books! That sounds so fun!!
Yay!! We did it y’all! She’s doing a dragon video!!

Omg we’re getting a dragon book, 2025 is gonna be great
I first saw the title on my phone and without my glasses, so I thought the title was “1 star predictions” 😂
If you have to do a dragon vlog, I definitely think you should make it your own 🐉 Love that idea and The Baby Dragon Cafe sounds adorable and maybe ridiculous
I’m also so excited for Wild Dark shore. Also, thank you for continuing to talk about Palestine. I’m excited to hear your thoughts on that book.
Yesssssss Dragon vlogggggg 🎉🎉🎉

Hey Kayla! I'm so glad you had a ladies retreat. That's what's up. Send deets next time 😂
Yesssss! Host one!
i have followed you since 2018 and i didnt know you were a little shop of horrors fan too!! ugh steve martin's best role
If you need another book with dragons for the vlog that’s not the typical romantasy kind No Gods No Monsters by Cadwell Turnbull is fantastic💜
all the trc graphic novels are gonna change my life i can already tell. i am locked into this series for the rest of time. it is all i think about and it is all i will ever think about.
I've been excited for katabasis since she announced it! The magic system is math and it's right up my nerdy alley!
Wait that's so cool! Also love math 😆
you talking about upcoming releases is all I need in life to have a good night ✨
i’m excited for the new ocean vuong!
ooooh I don’t tend to enjoy graphic novels (or animated things) either, but omg I am so excited for The Raven Boys! I need this now!
I have Wild Dark Shore as a physical ARC I’m so excited to check it out!
Ahhhh I’m also hoping Wild Dark Shore will be a five star for me too after how much I loved Once There Were Wolves 😍🤩
I'm excited for Wild Dark Shore and Hot Wax. Thanks for sharing these upcoming new releases. ❤
Immediately added The Baby Dragon Cafe to my TBR 😂 2025 is looking great for new releases!!
I can’t wait for Katabasis, it sounds so good 📚
I had only heard of a few of these, so thanks for this list. Most of them sound interesting and I feel like I'll read quite a few of them!
I have an early copy of Wild Dark Shore!!! I’m excited more now after hearing you talk about it!

i was thinking it was some sort of tribute to eragon

idc which books you read, a kayla dragon vlog will complete my life
Can’t wait for the trc graphic novel content!!
Kinda need you to read The Dragon’s Bride. It’s less romantasy and more just monster smut
I am going to ditto-predict these will all be five stars for me!!
Hard agree that Isabel Cañas will be another 5 for me too
I enjoy these videos and I definitely have that same problem with predicting 5 ⭐
Do you plan to read The Scholar and the last Faerie Door? I feel like you might like it!
Yeah I've given up on five star predictions because I have such a terrible success rate 😂
Can you make a video where subscribers send you prompts for reading challenges we’re doing and you give us some recs?
I didn't know The Raven Boys was being made into a graphic novel!
the way you talked about Katabasis made me actually say "saaammeee" at my phone. 💚
Oh we getting that Dragon vlog y’all!!!! We won 🙂↕️
You gotta read at least one dragon book recommended by your mom 🙏 🐉
Eat the ones you love sounds good!!!!
ik the dragon cafe is suppose to be cute however i cant help but to imagine them just breathing their hot morning breath on my coffee beans

I can’t believe you just compared that baby dragon book to both a one and five star book for me this year. What am i to think?
There is a Honey and Spice SEQUEL coming out in 2025!
Okay that dragon book's random and I'm here for it. Ugh. Riley Sager's got another book coming? No thanks.
TOO OLD FOR THIS! That cover!❤❤❤❤❤
Katabasis in greek means descend
Since you love Charlotte McConaghy I think you would love I cheerfully refuse by Leif Enger
Neve. It's not Neeve. It's Nev. Think Neve Campbell.
