As a true Dlebta native, I found these 2 episodes very informative. You really showed the world how beautiful, rich and historic our small village is. I really hope that you’ll visit it again and film some of the most important landmarks such as the Lebnan house, saydit Toumara, Darb el Hakle, the batrak’s house, the Mar Yaacoub church, etc.

We have a waterfall and a hiking trail, also the cross on the mountain, the house that you showed at the end was Bank of Lebanon in Mount Lebanon.
We also have many old churches and monasteries.

I would like to add important reasons for covering stone walls with lime مادة الكلس, soil حوارة and pine leaves قش الصنوبر
It is to keep the house clean from insects and ants, to protect the stone from certain bacterias that erode it, and allow the walls to keep the warmth in winter, and coolness during summer heat.

I have fond and beautiful memories from Lebanon. Thank you for this video. I do however wish you start by having one of the locals tell us about the origin of the the of the village: “Dlebta”, I can probably guess it is not Arabic, its origins are perhaps Aramaic or Syriac. It is important to emphasize these aspects to bring to the fore the rich history of the people of Lebanon. 🌹🌹

Phoenician is a Greek label for the original inhabitants of the Levant - Canaanites perhaps? The language was Semitic so how far off was I when the the language of liturgy for the Maronites, Orthodox was/is Syriac?

The name of this Lebanese village, "Dlibta" is derived from an ASSYRIAN word, which means in AssyrianThe act of water dripping through a hole. Dripping water. During the Assyrian zenith period Their empire, the Assyrians were the first people in ancient times to live on those mountains. Eventually, and after the fall of their empire gradually the Assyrian inhabitants lost their language and yet kept their Christian faith.
I am working on the History of our ancestors the Phoenicians since 1983. Therefore I would like to add following:
1- the number three was sacred among the Phoenicians of Lebanon: El or Baal Shameen - Baal - Ashtarout. From which the Christianity will adopt the Trinity.
2-The Phoenicians of Thebes city of seven Towers. From which the Romans make seve days a week
3-Auguste have decided twelve months per year
4-more ancient is the custom of twelve Sages of the city of Sidon where Pythagoras (father Phoenician from Sidon and mother Greek from Chios) was initiated into the secrets sciences of the Phoenicians-
5- meza Arab does not exist. This is called Lebanese Mesa
6-Roman historian Plinius major says that it was the Phoenicians who invented the Pita (Bread)
