Some Saint's fans actually believe that Rattler should start. One word...Delusional. Carr is light years ahead, and the most under-rated QB in the NFL.....Period. My personal believe is that Carr balls out this year and some of the haters will come into the fold. But the haters will hate. Let the hate for me begin...3...2...1.

A lot of people are running their mouth like the saints guaranteed to be third or fourth in our division, so I am wondering, Can someone do a player and coach stat comparison with all the NFC south teams to shut people mouth please. If people look deeply at the teams and not base their opinion on last year DC first year stats to say where we will land in our division.
It’s more about the principle that Dennis Allen can’t make big decisions. You have a speed bump at RT. QB2 is very important

Derek Carr holds the ball too long . He will go down at some point this season. So naming a Qb2 is a big deal..
He only held the ball too long when Pete Carmichael called routes that took 3 business days to develop. He gets rid of the ball quicker than most quarterbacks in the league. In fact, some fans were criticizing him for not going through his progressions. Now isn't that a paradox? Which is it? He holds it too long or not long enough?
We watch football for entertainment. The NFL players , coaches , officials and owners only enjoy the lifestyle they do because of their fans. Derek Carr is not entertaining, Jake Haener is not selling tickets , meanwhile the city is bustling with excitement about one guy. Spencer Rattler. At the end of the day you need a guy who’s going to put asses into seats or the organization is back to having empty games and the fans that do show up show up to boo.
Does that mean to rush Spencer out there? No , but what is does mean is we fans aren’t trying to hear bland answers. The majority of us don’t like DA and we are looking for someone to be excited about. Many of us don’t feel Allen gave Winston a fair shake and get very suspicious when it’s obvious Spencer outplayed Jake , yet Allen is making excuses for Haeners performance. It’s very off putting to someone who wants to be excited about Saints football.
Excitement over a rookie quarterback fades fast unless he is that 1 in a 1,000 that lights it up. If he doesn't win, that excitement would quickly fade, and then we're looking for the next great thing. We're talking about short-term hype vs. long-term success. Coaches, owners, and GMs understand this all too well.
Why the excitement for Rattler? He wasn't setting the SEC on fire. He did just ok and struggled behind South Carolina's bad offensive line. Ian Book had a better overall preseason than Rattler this year, and Book got released 3 days ago. Meanwhile, Carr was top 10 in touchdowns, interception ratio, passer rating, and completion percentage. Can we trust that a rookie will do better? I'd put my money on the veteran that is in his 2nd year with his receivers and in a system that uses more motion and play action.
@@dl9232 Carr was elite when it didn’t matter. If Ian book ever dreamed of having the same talent as Spencer he better call him and apologize when he wakes up. San Fran took a nobody , plugged him into their system and ride their elite defense to a superbowl. We have the same ingredients.
@frankthetank405 Josh Dobbs is exciting to watch, and he looked better in college than Rattler. Unfortunately, he wasn't properly developed at Pittsburgh, and he is too inconsistent. Rattler had a good 1st preseason game, a bad 2nd preseason game, and a good 3rd preseason game. None of them were great, though. The hype is based on so little substance, but our fans are falling for it hook, line, and sinker.
The Ian Book example said nothing about talent. It was 💯 about performance. He performed better in the preseason than Rattler and got cut. We're hyping Rattler like he could or should be QB1. I think the kid has potential, but if those preseason games showed us anything, it's that he needs more time and more reps before throwing him out there to be the savior.
Mr. Irrelevant is a system quarterback, and this system fits him nicely. He doesn't improvise much, which is a hallmark of Shanahan's system. Would Rattler be able to stay within the parameters of the system and not improvise too much? Behind this offensive line, a rookie who has good mobility might not be as disciplined. Maybe he would. I'd rather see him next year at the earliest if he's going to be our next franchise quarterback.
Trade Derrek Carr for 1 or 2 offensive lineman start rattler, keep haener as qb2.
