Hi Aubrey. No doubt you have already found a solution to what you were doing by now, but here is an answer to your questions. We have recently switched over to a material that is an exact color match for the Tacoma SuperWhite. It is also molded-in-color so even deep knicks in the surface won't show up.
How have they held up since you installed?
Install is tough…tolerance stack up is challenging between cover tolerance and your OEM tolerance … but doable. Took me a few hours and it was largely realizing I was just gonna have to force it. Similar comments as others…passable but doesn’t seem optimal.

Beyond frustrated. The plastic matches nicely to the oem bumper caps. However, fittment is a real pain. Being a few millimeters off makes all the difference. Slack in places when flush in others. Middle step cover simply will snug up with all the force I can muster in order to get the pins back in, I’ve even cut some slots in an effort to allow for a tighter fit. Just won’t look right. A new bumper is not much more. Wish I would’ve just done that and likely will.

Followed your instructions as much as possible, fitment wasnt any where as close as yours, sliced my finger open on edge of the sharp plastic trying to line things up, one side wasnt lining up under the bumper cover, broke both tabs on license plate lights trying to get them back in, not sure why toyota made such a short tether of wire for the bulbs. all in all looks good but def not a great experience, cant imagine a full bumper swap being anymore difficult or time consuming. i wouldnt buy another set nor recommend these for the 2nd gen tacoma.

What is the affect of this cover overtime? Does it increase likelihood of rust?
Hi Brady, sorry for taking so long to respond. These products go directly over your existing bumper and won't cause any rust. They attach with 3M tape.

Just a quick response to your comment, we use a plastic that is .090 inches thick. Any thicker than that, and the cover becomes pretty difficult to get under the step pad. As for the plastic being "cheap," we wish that was the case lol. We source our plastic from the same companies that supply Bushwacker and Lund, and a plastic bug shield from them is going to run you $100+. We also do all the manufacturing out of our facility in Auburn California, not contracted out to China.
