I got a cheap pilot's helmet from a costume store a few sizes too big, but fits perfectly with my Quest 3 underneath, if the helmet is too big fitting a vr headset is no problem
I did order this as a large but it come from China so it is like a medium actually. Oh well. Would love to see yours. I'm on Instagram mike.barnett.official
Very nice! I couldn't justify a sim pit for myself, let alone trying to convince someone else that it's a good idea lol. VR is a must for me though, and the Pimax Crystal is the BOMB in DCS. VR has had more impact than anything else for me. If it breaks, I'll be bummed out.
I run a 2080ti GPU 8700kCPU in DCS in VR G2 and its freaking awesome...butter smooth and crystal clear, only time it struggles a bit is in some MP servers
Congrats on a great build!!..DIY is the best!!..Old time simmer(sinner)..here.I like to go dumpster diving and shop at thrift shops(goodwill..salvation army)..and pawn shops...Cya

Nice. I have that same little keyboard. I went with a ball mouse, so I could keep it in one place. I would like to welcome you to your thousands of dollars hobby, lol. Once I saw your real ejection seat, I know for a fact you will have a full cockpit. Soon you will be adding to it. I already see you with an extension for the Warthog, Thrustmaster TPR pedals, and a VR headset. Where did you buy the ejection seat?
with the Pico 4 try to set up DCS to a max Framerate of 36-38 and let the Pico 4 Super Sample it via Virtual Desktop to 72hz. Ive got Amazing Results out of the Pico 4 with that as I have had a GTX3060 in my setup. Also if you have the patience to set up OpenXR you can further improve your VR with the foviated rendering possibilities.
@@MikeBarnett that method works both ways IF your wifi is strong enough. I am using the Pico mainly on PC so 90% I have it hard wired via an ethernetcable directly from the router, towards a power + Ethernet towards USB-C Adapter.
I recently got an RTX4070Ti Super from scan for about £800 and it runs VR great, has 16gb vram to handle the high res textures. Not sure what your budget is for pc upgrade but I really recommend it
@@MikeBarnett I'm using the quest 3 alongside Virtual Desktop and quad views. For virtual desktop I use 'godlike' resolution and on quad views I use a 0.55v * 0.5h fixed focus view @ 1.3x supersample and then the peripheral @ 0.45x (under?) sample. Gets me a solid 72fps even in big multiplayer servers like 4YA syria. Even on a headset without eyetracking i find quad views an absolute gamechanger, definitely recommend it, I can get 1.3x supersample but still end up rendering 30% less pixels
A 3070 should be plenty to run DCS in full resoultion. It seems like maybe your settings need to be tweaked. I have a 3090 and run DCS full resolution with a Pimax Crystal, I get about 60fps in single player at 120hz In multiplayer, I get about 40 FPS depending on what map and how much is going on, and my settings make everything look gorgeous. I'm also running with a Ryzen 770X, 64GB Ram, 1TB NVME drive. Nice rig, my man! Welcome to sim paradise!
@@MikeBarnett Use a Nethernet cable to USB-C connector from your Router directly to your Pico. There is youtube tutorials available for that and it improves the PICO 4 capabilities drastically. There is also connectors that are directly adding another USB-C input for charging simultaneously.
You are going to have re- build the sim on a contained assemble, which your seem to have already. That way when you decide to build the motion platform you can just attach it to the platform. That's the next phase if you decide for motion. In the meantime enjoy your amazing rig, flying is so enjoyable. You got a SIM now, not a game now.
@7:15 Is there more of these frames on ebay, or was it a one time auction or something? Would appreciate a link if have one. I have a GT Omega Prime but this looks ideal for me for this and I'd then consider reverting that Prime to racing setup
Get yourself a Tobii Eye tracker pro and loose all those pesky wires and have a great experience.I did and it was a strain on the bank balance but oh so good...............................................................
With a helmet, you can really overdo it. I don't know if you don't feel stupid playing DCS in your apartment with a helmet on! That shows that a lot of people are really idiots!
Naa, not at all spent years in the military wearing a soggy wet one so anything dry is a bonus lol... also been a military flight helmet collector since I was 7 so for me that's part of the fun. That would be good to see. Thanks for watching.
Looks like a legit TIR5 cam to me. Even the stepped rubber feet on the bracket. Must be Naturalpoint.
It looks just like them. Even the red pcb on the back
@@MikeBarnett That's pretty darned close to the original. So you don't have the "5" imprint on the back then.
Nice set up! Any tips on setting up 3 monitors? I have 2 new 27” monitors coming tomorrow. Thanks!

You need a 6 DOF motion platform.
Don't!!! Lol people keep saying this. I need to get one.. I need one 😆

If you want realism I ask myself why you didn't go VR. All the money you spent on equipment would pay for a good VR.
I have.
