    Sorry forgot to answer regarding the steam at the end. The engine head lifted, not strong enough bolts at the time, causing pressure in to the coolant channels. Protrim has after this produced to specs their own bolts, if I'm not mistaken.

  • @Lotus439

    That is my goal. The problem is that I'm having trouble with the head gasket to seal already at 1,3-1,4bar. You see at the end of the film that water is blowing out of the overflow tank. That's my head gasket issue. We've made better head studs now that's even stronger than ARPs Custom Age 625+ together with some other mods so I'm hoping I can boost 2 bar this spring to see at least 200whp more. New video will be posted. I'll also change to racefuel, 700whp was well beyond my plan on pump gas.

    It's not the cyl. walls it'd be the main end caps that have to react the combustion loads.
    All I wanted to say was that, having worked at Lotus Cars, I did learn that these blocks can crack and currently I am working on the design of an engine block for a new range of engines and block cracking is one thing we're concerned about!
    If you're block doesn't crack, then fine but as an engineer, I do tend to whince a bit !

    I'm not worried at all that the block will crack. The cylinder walls are thick and we've never seen a block from this engine family cracked. We have seen a block that has cracked at one of the cylinder bolt holes but I have a spare C36GET block in addition to countless C30SE blocks. So the cylinder block is the least of my worries.

    Well it isn't, as it'd be a fatigue failure, so it'd be the number of thermal and combustion cycles to failure.
    With fatigue, it's always about probability of failure. The guy didn't know what output this engine was certified at, so how would he know it'd take 693 WHP? All I said was that some failed at the standard output of 377bhp.

    Wird nicht lange halten, denn schon das überzüchtete Serienauto mit 377 PS hat ständige Motor- und Getriebeschäden !

    • @SuperEvoIX
      @SuperEvoIX 10 років тому

      Doch, doch, DER hält! Die, welche "damals" vom Band liefen, hatten leider 3 grundlegende Fehler. Der eine war der fehlende Ölkühler-Termostat
      (dauerte etwa 30 Km bis das Öl wirklich betriebsbereit war....
      Wer wartete damals schon sooo lange!?), das zweite war die"fehlerhafte"
      Kolbenbodenkühlung und der dritte Fehler war die mangelhafte Kupplung/
      bzw K.teile.
      Sonst wäre es ein Hammer-Auto...auch heute noch ein totaler "eye-catcher". Gruss von einem, der auf Turbo-Japse und US "muscles" steht, aber auch die
      alten CIH-Opels noch immer mag ;-)))

    • @SuperEvoIX
      @SuperEvoIX 10 років тому

      SuperEvoIX Warum sollte der OEM-Motor "überzüchtet" sein (3.6 Liter/377PS) ??? Nur so mal als Beispiel: mein Mitsu EVO IX hat original 280 PS aus 2 Liter Hubraum. Läuft jetzt schon 165`000Km ohne Klagen. Wichtig ist, dass man alle 7500Km Öl-/ Ölfilter- Wechsel macht und alle 25 - 30`000Km das/die Schaltgetriebe/Differentialöle erneuert/ wechselt. Warmfahren und den Turbo IMMER mind. 30 Sekunden auslaufen lassen. Wenn man den Wagen stark forderte, dann mind. 1 Minute auslaufen lassen.

    • @Brandy911
      @Brandy911 10 років тому

      SuperEvoIX Im Gegensatz zu modernen Motoren (wie z.B. auch der des EvoIX), die von vornherein für Spitzenleistungen konstruiert werden, wurde der Opel-Motorblock seiner Zeit -was Materialauswahl und Wandstärken betrifft- für eine Hubraumobergrenze von 3 Litern und Leistungen bis etwa 200 PS ausgelegt.
      Der 24V (C30SE) ging hier bereits an die Grenze - auch war die Steuerkette zu schwach dimensioniert, was immer wieder für Motorschäden sorgte.
      Beim C36GET (Lotus-Maschine) war nach dem Aufbohren kaum noch "Fleisch" an den Zylinderwandungen, so dass u.A. der Bereich der Zylinderkopfdichtung ein großer Problempunkt war - insbesondere auch deswegen, weil zusätzlich noch 2 Turbolader für reichlich Druck sorgten.
      (... was z.B. bei Irmschers saugenden Hubraumriesen mit 3,6 bzw. 4 Litern l, nicht der Fall war, da sie mit max. 272 PS auf Drehmoment ausgelegt waren und bei Weitem nicht so hoch belastet wurden.

    • @BossmodePictures
      @BossmodePictures 10 років тому

      SuperEvoIX
      Da bleibe ich doch lieber bei meinen 150 PS aus 2 Litern und muss dafür nur alle ~ 80.000 km das Öl wechseln... Bei 7.500 km bezahlste ja mehr für Öl als andere für Benzin^^
