I don’t think you will ever understand how much you have helped me with my conversion. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to tell my parents but the best decision I’ve ever made
Raised catholic, went to a catholic school, left the church and went looking for answers for 20+ years. Now 34 and back more faithful than ever.
Praise the Lord!
God bless you father
There's always been something to beautiful to me about the Catholic Church's 'provinces' covering the entire earth. Something that no kingdom of man could ever do.
Exactly, that is also a reaosn for me why Catholicism is the true Church, especially in the debate with Orthodoxy. Why would God limit his Church to a certain region? Catholicism is everywhere and we’re here to stay!
This video convicted me, Thank You. I’ve been on the journey into the church for maybe over a year now and I was a Mormon previously for about three years, and I am still holding on to Mormonism and the book of Mormon, the temple, the doctrine of the LDS church, the priesthood, ect. But, I have felt the Lord lead me to himself in the Catholic Church and I’ve been going back-and-forth between the two faiths for a while now and lately I’ve been drawn back to Mormonism and I don’t know if it’s the Holy Spirit or not. Saying that I’m confused is an understatement.
Thank You Fr. For this video!!
Wow great timing! Been thinking about joining for a while, but things always came up, whether it be having a secular family and friends, interest in the orthodox faith, whether I should be in a NO, TLM, Ordinariate, or Eastern Catholic church. And overall moments of doubts and sin that make me feel not ready or unworthy. I think this video has shown me that if I want to become "more ready" and really progress, then I should go ahead and join the church and not let worry hold me back!
Amen, amen. Father Casey, you brought sweet tears of joy and thanksgiving to my eyes. I had left the Church years ago and came back four years now, and received my confirmation two years ago.
Hello. I’m an Orthodox Christian who has been considering joining the Catholic Church for seven months. I tried to join, but felt a deep sense of dread when I did so I went back to the Orthodox Church. Here I am again, asking myself, ‘What does God want me to do?’. I’ve looked into the Catholic Church, read apologetics, talked to Catholics both lay and people who are studying the theology of the Church, and I’ve learned a great deal about her. I’ve felt at times, that my conversion to Catholicism is imminent and will happen, but when? But I’m scared, having been Orthodox for ten years, I’m scared of potentially losing all those I know, being hated, being rejected, by those in the Orthodox Church. Then there’s the doctrines, I understand the reasons why the Catholic Church believes what she believes, but the one doctrine that has held me back, has been papal supremacy and infallibility. I see in the Church’s history the proof for and against, and while I think papal supremacy and infallibility might have been what is intended, I still do not know for sure. Then there’s the question of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church and if it’s the Catholic Church. I do believe that indeed, the Catholic Church is a divine institution, and that Christ did indeed create the Church, but the question of whether it’s the Catholic or Orthodox Church has grated me, and the question if God wants me to join has been the ultimate struggle. This video has helped me, Father and I thank you for your help, please pray for me and hope that I shall come to the right choice.
orthodoxy is the only truth
do not leave Orthodox. its the true way.
Papal infallibility is biblical (Matthew 10:19-20 is an example) and it’s not like everything the Pope says is infallible, it’s only in certain cases. God bless you and I hope our Lord leads you to the Church he deems as right.
Vatican 2 contradicts Mortalium Animos. All you need is one contradiction for the papal structure to collapse.
Orthodox Christian as in Eastern Orthodoxy, if so, that is Catholic
Papal supremacy- So here is the issue, if rejected then different Bishops can have different standards, so which is correct.
Infallibility - This isn't an issue as it is so tiny in Catholic life. Some say 2 teachings others say up to 24 teachings. All of which are teachings
either way , so what does it matter if if it is a core believe or an infallible belief.
One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church - Again to Eastern Orthodoxy that is them as well as it is the Roman Catholic Church
Me and my husband (50s) are currently on our RCIA journey, and your videos have been very useful to us - as well as being very enjoyable - so we thank you for them Father, and wish you much peace and happiness.
God bless you Padre 🙏🏼
RCIA 24 years ago. Greatest response to a call anyone could ever have ✝️
Yes
Perfect timing ❤. I have been trying to discern if this is right for me. A leap of faith.
I am a Chinese born in a Buddhist family. By the grace of God, I was baptised as a Catholic at the age of 21. This is the best gift that God has given me. Jesus is truly my saviour and my best friend. He loves me despite me not being faithful to Him for many years. I feel so blessed to be a Catholic.
Amen 🙏🏻
I dont know how you made this perfectly on time. Im 17 and have protestant parents. I know they will be unhappy if I convert. Thank you for this video and God bless
God bless you. I joined OCIA. Pray for me.
The RCIA program is so informative! And it’s sad but most cradle Catholics I met haven’t learned anything or can’t remember any of their teachings. I find myself teaching other Catholics what they have forgotten. It’s really sad. There definitely needs some changes in the church regarding continued education.
I am, in this moment, struggling with this. Particularly, my SDA family has been a huge thing on the process, I know I'm absolutely wrong but I fear that they will stop loving me or that we will have a cold relationship. I know this probably will not happen (and God should be above all things), but I still fear
This can be a real struggle and hold people up from following their conscience once they've come to the conclusion that they should become Catholic; particularly if your family/social group has a strain of anti-Catholicism. I would advise being prepared to tell your family everything you do appreciate about how your upbringing taught you to love Jesus and the truth of Scripture and emphasize that you ARE NOT rejecting any of that. If they then have criticism regarding your conversion, you can explain that you are pursuing what your conscience and reason have told you is the fullest way to embrace what God is calling you toward. If they have specific concerns and questions, you might not have answers to everything but you can tell them that you will study them while you continue to study and prepare to enter fully into the Church.
Yes I will make it tomorrow.😊
My wife was born and raised in communist China during the most repressive times. After 20 years of civil marriage, she was finally baptized into the Catholic Church, and two years later we were finally married in the sight of God. All times are the right time to become Catholic.
Finally someone trying to bring other people to church, not by screaming, and proving they're idiots, but with respect, and love, as Jesus would love to see.
Truly a message for time as this. Society is spiralling out of control. No better time to be in body of Christ.
Sharing this with some friends who are tempted, but haven't taken the "leap of faith". Yet.
Good video brother. Timely.
I did officially convert in 2019.
woahhh im so early to the video! Father, i know this might be a wierd question but.... how do i preach the gospel? also my mom and dad are methodist WHILE IM SECRETLY ROMAN CATHOLIC cuz i cant let the chance to come to the one true Church go away. Father, how do i confess to them, they are Methodist and i need help. also your probably the second priest i have EVER talked to. pretty kool! GOd bless you and thank you for these awesome faith giving videos,
Joshua. :D
With your family in particular, once you tell them that you are Catholic I would advise being prepared to explain that you do appreciate how your upbringing taught you to love Jesus and the truth of Scripture and emphasize that you ARE NOT rejecting any of that.
If they then have criticism regarding your conversion, you can explain that you have what your conscience and reason have told you is the fullest way to embrace what God is calling you toward. If they have specific concerns and questions, you might not have answers but can promise to look into them.
By this question, I mean no disrespect. My Lithuanian side of my family has been Catholic for hundreds of years. So has the French line. The English and Dutch lines, no. I never felt comfortable in the Protestant religious groups. Can one be "called" to Catholicism? And know it from even a very early age?
The Diocese declaring bankruptcy is what gave me pause.
Converted to Catholicism from Protestantism. I tell you, it has been the best decision I have made.
It truly is the fullness of truth. Everything fits together.
How I envy those of you who were born and grew up in the Catholic faith.
I believe that God knows that I am really to be called into his fold , that he sends the holy spirit to give me guidance and fortitude to take that first step into becoming a full member of the catholic church! Amen 🙏! ❤❤❤
Great video!
Great timing. My first RCIA class is tonight.
You are presenting an either/or argument without the option for both to be true. The Catholic Church can be a human institution that does good AND it can be a divine institution with flawed people. There is very much a "business" side of the Catholic Church the real estate holdings (churches) and investments, the whole of Vatican City, people running the websites, countless office workers and planners and travel agents, etc. Obviously there is also the divine side. The problem is that it is not always straightforward to distinguish between the two particularly in some of the more liberalised churches.
Yes ♥️ I'm 😊❤
Catholic Strong 💪
That’s 100 percent me but I’m only 15 and my mom is against it, but some I don’t know like how do I know that the Eucharist turns to the body and blood of Christ, how do I know we should ask the saints for intercession or Mary being sinless, I’m just scared of believing the wrong thing.
Your not alone there’s lots of other people in that boat. Remember to pray about it and God will lead you where He wants you.
Look up the eucharistic miracles. Your other questions can be found all around. If you haven't yet, you can get a catholic catechism for free which will answer at least the majority of the basic questions.
@@samuelanders7597I did but my family keeps telling me that they could have been made up or smth dumb like that
@@liamsmith1371I believe God will guide you and won't be mad at you for earnestly seeking for the truth. You don't have to know everything to start coming to church or learning more about the faith. I've had questions too and honestly just learning more and going to Mass has helped me so much. I'll keep you in my prayers Liam. We're all in this journey together ❤
@@liamsmith1371you are asking questions and challenging what you have been taught. That is already a good thing. Reason and discernment are essential tools of building REAL faith not just going along with the crowd. All your answers are innthe teachings of the church and the scriptures. Why we believe what we do, how and why we established various traditions, etc. You can even use tools like chatGPT to help you find where in the bible a given verse is that gives catholics all these crazy ideas 😂😂😂
But hey, regardless of where you land im really proud of you for looking for answers. Keep going young man.
Well said 👏🙏
It is not teachings that play a part in how I sometimes face struggle; it is history. You pointed it out, much of what the Catholic church did over the centuries has been politics, with ramifications up to this day, that can still stand as genuine obstacles to the catholicity of the church. Sometimes, the fight isn't about wanting to belong in the Catholic church. It is about Catholics who don't want you to after having been misled about you.
It would be much easier to look for a different branch of Christianity, but I wouldn't be honest with God or with myself if I did. Blessed are those persecuted for justice, our Lord taught. And it is quite terrible that His own church is still very good at persecution, rather than trying to tend towards the unity we pray for at almost every mass...
Always.
I am a cradle Catholic, why am I watching this? Oh right it's because I can't resist watching any of Father's videos
I'm favoured, Getting my own Truck has always been my Dream for my business. I just acquired 2 recently, earning $32K weekly has been really helpful. I can now give back to the locals in my community and also support Charity Organizations.
Excuse me for real?, how is that possible I have struggling financially, how was that possible?
Thanks to God, my daughter who introduced me into the digital market. Moreso, thanks to Ms *Kathleen Mary Vella*
I feel blessed that my family, a mixture of neo-pagans, atheists, and so-called "spiritualist" have been encouraging me to pursue the Church. It is *odd* to say the least and somewhat contradictory to the experience of others I've seen.
I love the catholic church and it is very close to my heart, i just can't agree with papal infallibility.....the church has the authority, yes .I beleive that
I tried becoming catholic some months ago, but I gave up. I have attended Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and went to some Sunday masses.
Catholicism is actually pretty metal, 🤘, the Church was so powerful it split the world in two and gave on half to Spain and the other half to Portuguese. Also they took Galileo middle finger which is encased in a glass egg decorated in gold.
I’ve been discerning conversion for 5 or 6 years now. I want to be obedient because I believe I’m being called. But I am scared I will lose my family. My wife anti-Catholic and unwilling to look into it.
The one hiccup I have with the church being no different than any other organization run by people is that the church is supposed to be the living embodiment of God on earth. Men are not perfect obviously, but the standards we hold the church against should be much, much, much higher than any other organization. I will not deny the church has done a lot of good. But it has also done some pretty bad things. I will consider returning when it doesn’t feel like I have to wrestle with my own conscience about if the church has truly atoned for its misdeeds.
NNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGG FINE!!! I'll send the mail to my local church...
Born and raised Catholic. I've had enough of the hypocrisy. For the last 20 years I have been studying biblical Hebrew and Greek, different translations and must say there are many MIStranslation of the Bible within the Christian sect. So no it's not time, not ever, to be reinstated in this controlled environment.
What, exactly, is included in "Scripture"? Why do you think what you call The Word of God is contained in the specific books you call Scripture? Why the Gospel of John, but not the Quran? Why Genesis and not the Book of Moroni? Is there a divinely inspired list somewhere, and how would one know it's divinely inspired?
All of this is to say that every person places the authority of some human tradition over the authority of any sacred writing, because it's the tradition which tells you what writing is to be considered sacred writing.
We have stories of disagreements about interpretation of translations all the way back to before the earliest copies of the books we have were made. (For example: Read up on how David and Joab disagreed about whether it was the "sons" or the "remembrance" of Amalek which should have been destroyed.)
Sure, you can reject the authority of The Church to make those calls. Just don't try to pretend that any authority you're replacing her with is more authentic or authoritative. It ALL boils down to human traditions in the end.
@@iluomopeloso it's called historical documents.
I’m Catholic, but now thinking about leaving. With the Vatican moving in a more liberal direction, I see Jesus more clearly in other Christian faith formations.
* Is it time to Become Catholic? *
Nope
Is there any perfect church? From the local Protestant to Catholic? Is there any Church with whom I can agree 100% of the time (as if I have full knowledge!) Unfortunately if one existed, it would lose perfection the day I joined.
As far as the scandals I always go back to what I heard Jordan Peterson say…”Not even God could create a garden without a serpent.” The devil gets into many places, it just means we need to fight him harder.
Doesn’t that contradict the power of God though? If God couldn’t create a garden without a serpent, then he isn’t all powerful.
@@steve3847And we are back to free will, his all power doesn't mean that he need to exterminate all evil, but he can use it for greater good.
Person up, like Jordan Peterson told it wrong, of course God could prevent that but at cost of free will.
@@steve3847 God recognizes that the serpent has purpose. God isn’t a politician and isn’t trying to please everyone, he allows evil so we have balance and challenge…suffering is a prerequisite. If there was no suffering you’d have no idea what joy is.
What it would take for me to even consider going back: The church would have to accept pantheism instead of monotheism. Accept the possibility of reincarnation and pre-existence. Drop the whole "eternal damnation/hell" nonsense. Especially the hell/judgment thing. So it's a non-starter
I was Protestant, learning about Orthodox. I respect and love catholics but it’s not for me.
Is it time to be free and become an atheist, though?
If you have the core teaching down, maybe it will just take becoming atheist and practicing freedom to grow into the things you have doubts about now. 😉
no thanks!
I do NOT wish to be a member of any religion or religious institution.
I want to be free and independent.
You cannot be truly free without Christ. You're simply allowing yourself to remain a slave to sin.
Radical independence is an common value in modern thought, but not what God calls us toward.
The point is...
As long as there is any "god" you will NEVER be free...
Just as He created you, so He can destroy you if you are not according to His will.
@@alojzklemenko9355 So is your point not to say that there is good reason to believe atheism is true, but to say that there is reason hope that atheism is true?
You cannot live on hope.
Yes
Great video!
