That's the best part, if you use matrices to represent rotation and translation you can simply add them together, creating combined movement. You can even define the rotation point wherever you want (also outside the robot) making for some really interesting drive modes
Im playing war thunder n just had the idea that tanks would do so much better if they didnt have to expose their entire weak side when they need to go in a side direction. If a tank had wheels or tracks or something that could make it go and turn in any angle, the tank wouldn’t even need a swivel gun anymore, and bigger guns could be used because there is no risk to damaging the turret and there can be enough room for a huge gun.
I’d love to say thanks, but unfortunately, I haven’t actually been able to compete at all this year, or even help out with any tournaments. Not quite sure if some of my older teams made it out to the remote comp either.
what do you mean it's the most memed drivetrain? swerve is great in frc, it's so much easier to drive than tank (speaking from experience of tank vs mecanum in ftc)
It’s memed in vex robotics because we have a limit of 8 motors total, the swerve drive takes up all eight motors while not having the pushing power of 8 motors. So it’s not optimal for this competition
@@adamsalem-s that would do it lmao... do you have any other types of actuators? like how ftc has 8 motors and 12 servos, or frc has 16 motors plus pneumatics?
@@spidernh we have 8 11 watt motors. We also have 5.5 watt motors that count as half of an 11watt motor. The wattage limit is 88w so you can interchange some of the 11W for some 5.5W. We also have pneumatic actuators but I don’t think those would be applicable in this scenario.
Love to see how u would use high strength driveshafts. And the top mounted motors
I have never seen this this is amazing.
I need to see a vex or vexU robot that has both drive and turn motors mounted on top. Could be op
Is it possible to turn while moving at the same time, or does that get very complex on the programming?

Ah yes, the ultimate push bot.
I would love to see a design with both motors fixed.

Nice job on your February remote live skills competition. -9210C

Oh well I guess it was another Kepler team from Mankato
great vid, but only one problem,
8 motors only for the drive.
Have you made a better Chang up bot yet?
How lucky you are to be able to play with such wonderful toys!
I've made one of these before, I had no idea what to call it haha
I think differential swerve drive could be a great video. I’ve seen some somewhat vague renders on the forums but nothing in detail.
I don’t think a diffy swerve is feasible with just vex hardware. However there have been FTC teams that created diffy swerves.
@@owenelmburg6362 ive made and one it works great, its just a little tall

0:37 What erector set are you using?
I want to see a robot reveal.
Just add a slip ring and boom info tube rotation
swerve is a meme in all of robotics.... frc be like
me when swerve outside frc
Luv ur vids!!!
Swerve drive is cool 😎
Funny thing is, it uses up 8 motors! So uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh *brain blows up*
kepler 622b
shoulda made a differential swerve, sad
Interesting.
Kpeleetr Is su cool i wwant to be coul with him
takes 8 motors doe
