For those that are a little confused into why Balrogs name is M. Bison, it's because his original name was Mike Bison (in Japan) while Vega is Balrog (in Japan) and M. Bison is Vega (in japan)
So why don’t we call him Mike Bison? A Bison is a bovine which also makes sense that M. Bison’s attacks are Crazy Buffalo and Raging Bull. Even Mike Tyson knows of this character so what’s the real issue? People that watches Jojo still calls the character stands with their original Japanese names instead of the bad localization names so why can’t we do the same for Mike Bison?
@@PsychoChuckGreene at the time this game was made mike tyson was a boxer and japan feared a lawsuit cos mike bison sounds too much like mike tyson plus being a boxer to hence why they changed the names around for the western version
I played the Sega Genesis SF2CE a lot growing up and Im almost positive you could take off the entire power meter with one punch if you charged it long enough. Made for some great surprise KOs.
@@slimballs9650 and how do i keep the input? because by holding the buttons you can move and I remember that in SF II, Balrog kept the charge pose before launching the blow 🤔
This is one of the reason I am not a huge fan of Alpha series. Cool looking and having a lot of characters but many of the characters are just so underdeveloped in competitive play. I don’t even understand why TAP in Alpha 3 is made into that way. Reactable, unsafe on block, little invincibility meaning it can be stuffed by a well timed poke. If they did really play test for a bit they would know how Balrog definitely deserves better in A3.
Ok now I need to watch the video again, this time not looking at how much damage is being done. I was so shocked to see the levels even though I've been playing Street Fighter for decades. Including using Balrog often.
@@jk844100 I don’t count SFV as street fighter. 🤠 seriously though, I forgot about that move and a grapple from Mika after her full mic speech. Atleast you could realistically be hit with the final TAP in an actual match.
I was confused about it too, so I slowed down the video and I noticed he makes a full 360 turn. That's why he punches with the right hand, because he returns to this original position after a full circle turn.
(0:01) Is too bad, in SFII CE (USA Arcade) Balrog (Boxer) doesn’t say anything. In SFII Turbo SNES (USA and Japan Version) Balrog's count is missing as well. Fortunately in SFII Hyper (USA/Japan Arcade)Balrog's count was recovered.
@@sera404 yes but I still found it very awkward to use. At least on an arcade controller. Maybe this would be easier on pad if you map enough keys to the shoulder buttons
In SF2 World Warrior as boss only, his turn punch is stationary, and only has 3 variants. The variants only being the wait time before he punches. An odd behavior, nonetheless. Also, in the classic SF2 games (Champion Edition, & onward) does he NOT have an 8, or 9 version? You went from 7, in to FINAL. I was certain he had 8 and 9 variants in SF2 games beyond CE.
If he is going to hit with that hand he should turn to the other side. it doesn't make any sense, that would kill the momentum and would end up being a very weak punch
Yes I find this odd too. Maybe that’s why they changed the animation like he is hooking downwards. Totally understand why they keep the same animation in IV since it is their first 3D SF so they don’t want to make big changes. Like same with Ryu lowering his head in SFIV.
The longer you hold the higher your charge level is going to be. A risky thing to do when it means you have a button unusable when charging it. You need to hold the button for like 40 seconds to charge it to high level so it really isn’t practical for the most of the times.

All these years, I never knew he could count higher than 2, and the move seems to do more damage each time it lands?
No. It’s based on how long you hold the input.
It takes a long time for final. Rally difficult to do in a real match because you sacrifice those buttons during the hold.

Hold it.
Yep
Fun fact. Balrog was the announcer for sf2 series.
I was going to say how his counts sounded similar to the game over count down
His Street Fighter Alpha 3 theme is his best theme 😁😎🥊
They really hurt balrog after sf2 turbo when the turn punch no longer dodged fireballs, they brought that ability back in sf4

I REMEMBER it Damaging even MORE after holding a WHOLE MINUTE...
🤔🤔🤔
All these years I heard him counting but I never knew this was a mechanic and that his damage went up.
Balrog VS TJ Combo is a fight I'd love to see!
Death battle did that one a few years ago
I always thought the punch should come from the other hand because of the wind up
Left it to SNK Vs Cap to nerf all hell out the move

I was today years old when I found out that turn punch gets better with each one....
By the sounds of it you have to hold the charge for longer, so "final" could be the first move.
And now Barlog is going to teach you how to count.
I won so many fights with that move! Going around a projectile for the final hit was so satisfying ❤
I always thought the final punch was instant KO.
It is is you land the previous punches 😂
More final than Vegeta's Final Flash
8 hits harder than rage art 😨
I played Champion Edition back in 1992 and never knew about this.
Balrog (M. バイソン) saying a number while punching, is like Mr. Game & Watch lifting a number sign while hammering in Super Smash Bros. series.
Seems kinda odd he would wind up to his left but throw a right handed punch. In the real world you may as well hit that person with a pillow
5 has the best turn around imo
I been street fighting since SF2 and never knew he counted his punches. To busy kicking his ass

I always thought he just made half a turn. It's only now I notice he does a full spin
The Day we see a real-Life boxer doing that in a fight!
Mike Tyson’s couch used to name different types of punches with numbers so that the opponent wouldn’t know what they were saying
Barlog taught me how to count in English
Very good! Conglats!!!
For 20 years play street fighter arcade I didn't know there's a counting
Never heard him count when he did that. Never knew his damage kept going up either.
You heard him, you just weren't listinig.
No sé si sabían pero el "final" más tiempo lo mantenes más baja la vida hasta matarte de un golpe

Why does Balrog turn left but punch right?
Right handlers usually use their left side to amp the right.
Strongest single hit special in all of Street fighter
I think the strike from G’s idle animation takes those honours.

desk has a video on the SF2 bosses that shows how Balrog takes much more damage if you hit him during the turn/windup.
Very difficult to have an opportunity to load that up for more than 1-3. Too much time just holding it to actually use it against an opponent

I hate how they gave him the announcers voice in the early games
In early arcade memory for sound clips is very limited so they usually try to reuse voice clips as possible.
This is where SNK copied Ralf's Galactico Phantom.

I think the last TAP can get even higher damage. But at the end of the day it is still the same version with wall bounce, just different damage.

what is the input for this punch in SF2? i never found it
Back in the SF2 generation, you held all three punches or kicks to charge the TAP.
