Thank God for Warren Haynes, Allen Woody, and Gov't Mule. You boys are legendary! Rest in peace, Woody! Thank you for everything! Your music will be enjoyed for eternity ❤️😎🎸
Even after all these years, I've never heard Warren's voice sound any less than perfect and there aren't many singers you can say that about. He carries the torch now for Gregg. Long may it burn.
You're damn right! Gregg was the first person I ever heard sing that sounded the same on their studio album as they did live. That's extremely rare these days. Now, almost no one sounds as good live as they do on their studio albums. Get em, Warren! He is building his legend as we speak. As if his career hasn't been legendary enough lol. Thank you so much. 😎♥️🎸
This one is one of those videos where you come back again and again.. Pure gold.. Would love to see more these studio lives, don´t know anything better than these, sound is amazing and of course the band playing is the top job... What a group.... Hope my 3 little boys achive the same pleasure listening a real music some day, it looks good though...
Amen brother. I was a lifelong ABB and Gregg Allman fan. I'll always remember what I was doing and where I was when I found out. I think Gregg passing was the only celebrity death that I cried for. I've only lately reached the point where I can listen to their music without tears in my eyes. My hero was gone and there wouldn't be any new music. My wife and I drove to Macon just to get a glimpse of the hearse carrying Gregg's body to Rose Hill cemetary to be laid to rest beside Gregg and Berry. In the days following the funeral I saw a fan shot video of the Mule covering Whipping Post. Warren had picked up the torch. Gregg's songs would be sung by the only man who could do them justice. The Circle would not be broken (pun definitely intended). I hope to meet Warren someday so can thank him for not leaving Gregg in the past. I think Duane & Gregg. would be proud of him.
U know, this just save my day, my year, and maybe my life, i was ready to believe that rock and roll was dead, this song just say to me that inst. thank you guys. Come to Brasil again
"Dreams & Songs" My whole life's been filled with songs and dreams When I was a child I had a time machine Little did I know it would go too fast Little did I know it could see the future but not the past Leave it all behind, come what may Always thought I'd be comin' home someday Little did I know that life is hard Here I am, now, starin' out a window at my old back yard Is there any comfort to be derived? In knowing that most of our lives Can never be the same We can never go back home And those that can are lucky, I guess To somehow escape from this mess Me, I can only do it in dreams and songs Tryna fill a hole while running a race Leaves an even bigger empty space But a moving target is harder to kill Never was one for taking it easy or standing still Nowadays I find myself again Throwing stones and caution to the wind Nothing's really changed but the scenery And staring into my child's eyes I realize what it all means to me Is there any comfort to be derived? In knowing that most of our lives Can never be the same We can never go back home And those that can are lucky, I guess To somehow escape from this mess Me, I can only do it in dreams and songs Is there any comfort to be derived? In knowing that most of our lives Can never be the same We can never go back home And those that can are lucky, I guess To somehow escape from this mess Me, I can only do it in dreams and songs Dreams and songs
Actually the lyrics are Those that get unlucky I guess, to somehow escape from this mess.... referring to dying and leaving loved ones to deal with emotions and the world these days ... pretty sure that's what that is. You can ask Mr Haynes though, to be sure.
Amazing song! The chorus...... This strikes deep. I felt like I knew it the day I first heard it. Like an old friend ... That knows my soul. Thank you Warren. Amazing .... 💜🎸🎼🎙️
He has such a beautiful voice love this song a beautiful song and it sure makes you do a lot of thinking could listen to this song all day fantastic job guys
Matt rockin’ GJ’s GRADY kit!! 🙌 catered my BBQ to them a few times! Back in ‘07 when Nina Singh was on drums after taking Chris “Whipper” Layton’s place after his passing.. RIP CHRIS
More likely, there was a conversation beforehand about the song. Matt was on the road so much he didn't get to watch his son grow up. Now, Warren realized how hard that must have been for Matt, and others. "Looking into my child's eyes, I realize what it all means to me." We spend our youth looking forward... to 16, to 18... to 21 ... and we don't realize how harsh the world can be at that time, looking forward. The real treasures in life re personal interactions and love. When I was a child,I learned to speak from singing along with R&B songs. When Farmerand I were together, we'd turn up thr volume and sing songs to each other... complete with hand gestures to accentuate the meaning g. After he passed, he came to me a time or two in dreams. This song is about what I had left after Farmer left the flesh. And about what's important... 💕
I went to their concert summer of 2023! Here in Columbus, Ohio. I lasted 5 songs and fainted from the heat.

"Dreams & Songs"
My whole life's been filled with songs and dreams

Little did I know it would go too fast
Little did I know it could see the future but not the past

Always thought I'd be comin' home someday

Is there any comfort to be derived?
In knowing that most of our lives
Can never be the same
We can never go back home
And those that can are lucky, I guess
To somehow escape from this mess
Me, I can only do it in dreams and songs
Tryna fill a hole while running a race
Leaves an even bigger empty space
But a moving target is harder to kill
Never was one for taking it easy or standing still
Nowadays I find myself again
Throwing stones and caution to the wind
Nothing's really changed but the scenery

Yep! Hard to touch Soulshine, but damn if it ain't ANOTHER favorite I've got now! Would love to see it live too!
This Song and Easy Times are the only ones close to touching Soulshine, Although Soulshine is one of my favorite all time songs!
