I have a tiny dog addiction as well. My Husband, the highly intelligent man that he is, will not allow me to have more than 1 dog at a time! He knows me far too well!! Two dogs could easily lead to three dogs, then four, etc.!
That breeder might not get points for breeding to standard, but both the breeder & the owners get maximum points for temperament & personality! What a sweet dog!
My upstairs neighbors have a shi tzu whose previous owners ran the gamut of genetic testing and other details regarding the parents from their breeder. All he has are some easily managed allergies, and all he wants in life is to sit on your lap and rotate like a furry rotisserie chicken.
Accurate! I love that description. The Shih-tzu I grew up with just wanted to be held. He was like a warm, sturdy little stuffed animal. I still miss that little guy.
My shih tzu mix likes being held but only by me. She’s learned that being held by anyone else means she’s about to get medicine in her ears and/or eyes!
I wanted to just say: You might want to let the family know that if they ever had to re-home her you would be interested. I did this once for a gal that came into my store with a pup she had rescued. Several months later she called me and asked if I would give her a good home, she could no longer keep her. That was 10 years ago. She turned out to be one of the best dogs I ever owned. Just a wee bit of a thing. ❤
I have a much larger shih tzu mix (~16 lbs), and one time she quite literally got picked up by the wind! In fairness, it was the mid-outer bands of a hurricane, at a wind speed that pushes me (a fully grown human) around, but it was very comical. She’s a grumpy blind and deaf little old lady, too, so she was very disapproving of the whole situation!
and that is why those breeders can keep on breeding these genetic disasters! Cause people find them cute ! and yes she is cute , but really not good bred , but if people see one like this in those stores ??? yep , they're gone! that's how it goes! Cause by a very good breeder you get on the waiting list , you need to answer questions etc , not in those stores ... sadly the truth behind it .....
A lot of breeders are trying to breed "mini-pets" of all kinds. So many of these poor minis suffer from health problems. Vanessa's breeder advice is spot on. (That said, Nini is so adorable!) 😊
I have a friend who is a full time foster mom for dogs that need special care before they go to their forever home. She says some breeders purposely starve the pups so they don't mature fully. It is horrendous.
I have two Shih Tzu’s that were rescued from a puppy mill. One was just 3 months old and the other 4 years old. Today they are 13 and 17 and still going strong. I take them to be groomed every two months to keep their hair and skin in good condition. Basically they’re very pampered dogs and terribly spoilt. I adore them.
She is precious & so chill. Such a well behaved girl. I had a sweet Shih Tzu for 14 years. She passed 3 months ago 😢 I miss her everyday . Have a good day!

I have an all white shih tzu. He isn’t mixed with anything and he has a black nose and black eyes. He’s also standard sized, 16 pounds. But I would never breed him, he has bad allergies so he will forever be a virgin. 😂
Vanessa, the owners were warned about you young lady! That hair clip is a GPS tracker tag, and pretty sure they stopped by the vet and had another tracker surgically implanted to back it up!🤣
Ducky looks huge next to her in the tub. 😂In the first 2 seconds of the video, I thought “that is the most shih tzu looking maltese I’ve ever seen” because of her size. So adorably tiny.
I kept my Maltese in a puppy cut. One was poorly bred and had a brown nose. Was a rescue. Very sweet lived to 16 yrs. My one from a breeder passed at 10 from a progressive murmer.

Love how they all stand for nails and feet trims. My lot do the conga with a bit of river dance while screaming opera. It's a competitive sport for some. 😂
Vetality brushless oral gel for dogs really helps. My maltipoo is 5 and has only had one incisor removed. I feel that it was just a bit loose and would have healed if left but the incident that loosened it happened shortly before her scheduled cleaning so they pulled it. Also people always comment that her breath is so nice. Hope this helps.
I remember my Abigale (Maltese) went in for a tooth pull since it was infected, we were told about 8 more fell out. They were next to go anyway and they only charged us for the 1 tooth. This was many many moons ago when the proper things weren’t as widely available as it is now. She was a purebred meant for show dog but we didn’t use her for that. Instead she lived a somewhat short (my opinion since I was but a wee child) yet comfortable life before she got bone cancer.

your instict about part maltese is spot on, in my decades of experience with rescuing little white fluffy/silky dogs, i can tell you that the highest percentage of epileptic dogs we pull are Maltese.
I had a shih tzu/ maltese mix boy. He wasn't that small. he came from a puppy mill but didn't know the signs at the time. He was mostly white with tan ears and spots
We've had several shih tzus and you're so right about their teeth. One of ours has very few teeth left. Bad dental care also contributes to other health problems.
What an adorable little fluff ball! Yes sadly unscrupulous people breed indiscriminately and we really do need to do our homework when homing new fur children.. Thank you for educating us in your videos. I have learned a lot from your videos.
I would have to agree Vanessa, I believe that Nini is part Maltese. My in-laws had them for years and the heaviest one was a male at 5.5 lbs.. most of their females were 5 and under.. she is cute though 😊
She is probably an Imperial Shih Tzu. I have a male imperial that is 7#. He has a miss aligned jaw and allergies. He is my second shih tzu . Last one had one Maltese mixed in (a Malshi- with longer legs and slightly longer nose). Miss her to pieces 😢
So beautiful. Love her new do. And yes. She may have some Maltese in there. THanks for doing what you do. P.S. I love watching your nonna and nonno's videos. Brings back memories.
When I first saw Mimi I thought "Maltese", not ShihTzu. Years ago I had a delightful sweet but tough Maltese, which I would have again if one crossed my path. He ran happily with the big dogs. My guy was not much larger than Mimi, and there's something about her tail carriage too, that makes me think she's a mix. What an adorable dog❤❤❤
0:58 ah, yes, I remember teacup trend and miniaturisation of every possible breed. So could possibly be the result of breeding runt after runt. But could be mix too. Either way she's cute and as long as she's healthy and taken good care of it's ok (and, if it was poor breeding, hopefully no more dogs are being "produced" by this breeder)
I have never seen a full white Shih Tzu! My fav breed EVER! Mine is 4 years old. My first lived for 16 1/2 long years. I have seen one smaller than this one. I was 7 and that's when I fell in love.
I have a neighbor that has an imperial shi tzu (ROSIE!) and she’s TINY! When I first met her I asked if she was still a puppy and they said she was 7! I looked them up and they’re a recognized breed, but not recognized by AKC. I don’t know if an all white coat is within the standard. Either way this one is a CUTIE PIE!❤
My mom and dad have one of those. He's grey and white, weighs about eight pounds, and is the most chill, unconcerned little dude ever. Loves to be outside, loves to play in the snow, he's friendly and relaxed around people...just a cutie.
I always had our dogs' teeth cleaned at the vet's office every year. There is a product called Healthy Mouth, VOHC approved, that really helps. Lots of options but I used the one that is added to their water. I opted for the flavorless option and both dogs and cat drank it. It dental visits went to once every 2 years for the dogs and even longer for the cat.
I had two Shih Tzu rescues. The first was a white Shih Tzu with honey highlights (which could hardly be seen) and a brown nose (and a tiny head). My next Shih Tzu was a giant! He weighed 20 lbs (and not overweight).
She sounds so much like my shih tzu. But it's his front legs that are so messed up. Plus he's visually disabled. My vet calls him my sweet, adorable genetic mess. 😂 No I did not buy him, I saved him at an auction where he was being given away. He was a puppy mill pup and he was in horrific condition. I've had several shih tzu's in the past. He's definitely been my favorite❤
My little shihtzu was a beautiful little girl. Weight 12lbs her entire adult life. When I got her the siblings were there. Mom and Dad were both there. Grandparents were even in the house and chilling on their little special sofa lol. I was told immediately that Sweetie did not have papers just the Grandparents did but this family was not into making money from breeding shihtzus they were just a beloved family member to the humans family. They lived in a nice home where both human parents had jobs so they didn't need income from breeding. They said they wanted to keep the entire litter but they knew that they couldn't keep them all. But I paid a whooping 100 bucks for Sweets and had 17 great years with her. She was the love of my life no doubt. She never had any health problems except old age and that was it. The parents and grandparents had been checked for genes for kidney disease and other shihtzu typical problems and there were none. The human kids told me that the dogs are better taken care of than they were lol. I kept in touch with that family and all the parents and grandparents and siblings lived long healthy lives. So papers don't mean a thing and paying thousands for dogs is absolutely ridiculous and a clue that the dogs are working cruel conditions to support lazy ass sorry human beings. Think smartly when getting a full breed dog people.
Our sweet Mitzi was a white, 6 lb shitzu. She had a black nose and toes, and such a sweet disposition. We got her instead of one of her puppies because the breeder thought she was too small to breed, and should be a pet. When we got her I thought she had short hair, but she was just undernourished. As she was able to eat her food with out other dogs stealing it, her hair grew in lush and thick. It was so fine, it would float up in the air when I cut it. We were so lucky! Our sweet forever friend.
I am in LUV! This lil darlin is SO darn cute (don't let my 5lb Yorkie hear that, lol). I am a prior owner of a Shih-tzu. He was awesome! Vanessa, you can just ship that lil one right to me!!! lol. I am such a fan of small doggies now that I've been owned by several. Dogs rule the house don't cha know, lol. Such a precious cupcake there.
I’ve been owned by 3 Yorkies myself & I have to say it was the best dictatorship I’ve ever lived under. We currently own a lab & have regained control of the house, but I sure do miss my bossy babies.

8:45 Ah! The useful groomer’s “doo-doo-doo-doo” procedure🧐
😂😂
Gorgeous lil pooch
She sounds so much like my shih tzu. But it's his front legs that are so messed up. Plus he's visually disabled.
My vet calls him my sweet, adorable genetic mess. 😂
No I did not buy him, I saved him at an auction where he was being given away. He was a puppy mill pup and he was in horrific condition. I've had several shih tzu's in the past. He's definitely been my favorite❤
SO CUTE!!! ***Squeals*** The before and after was quite the transformation. I hope the owners approved of her haircut.
OMGOSH she is so adorable. I think she will fit in your purse 😊❤
I totally thought this was a Maltese. I have had several Shi Tzu’s and never saw a pure white one or one that tiny. She’s a cutie, though.
Thanks for the advice on choosing a breeder.
Shuh-tzus will always have a place in my heart, as we had to put our one down last month due to age and tumors but she was the best thing ever :')
Such a good girl! I'm amazed to see a small dog that's so absolutely chill.
She's made of pure sunshine.
So happy that you have had a super enjoyable groom!😀
Mimi is super adorable and looked really great at the end of her groom!🥰
Our sweet Mitzi was a white, 6 lb shitzu. She had a black nose and toes, and such a sweet disposition. We got her instead of one of her puppies because the breeder thought she was too small to breed, and should be a pet. When we got her I thought she had short hair, but she was just undernourished. As she was able to eat her food with out other dogs stealing it, her hair grew in lush and thick. It was so fine, it would float up in the air when I cut it. We were so lucky! Our sweet forever friend.
She was so well behaved. What a little Angel!❤️🐶❤️🐶❤️
Wow, my 6 month old kitten just weighed in at a little over 9 pounds at his vet appointment a couple of weeks ago. She is tiny!
she weights less than my mini rex rabbit 😮
I am in LUV! This lil darlin is SO darn cute (don't let my 5lb Yorkie hear that, lol). I am a prior owner of a Shih-tzu. He was awesome! Vanessa, you can just ship that lil one right to me!!! lol. I am such a fan of small doggies now that I've been owned by several. Dogs rule the house don't cha know, lol. Such a precious cupcake there.
“Now that I’ve been owned by several”😂
It’s their world, we’re just living in it lol
I’ve been owned by 3 Yorkies myself & I have to say it was the best dictatorship I’ve ever lived under. We currently own a lab & have regained control of the house, but I sure do miss my bossy babies.
