Robinson R44 Flight - Low level Fog

Join onboard a Robinson R44 helicopter on a navigation flight from Denham airfield. On encountering low cloud and fog along the route, the helicopter is turned back to Denham to practice general handling instead.

Great video! Would have liked to see the TAFs for LHR and Luton - in my limited experience, the weather for winter flying is either brilliant or terrible, with little in between. This looked like one of those less common in between days. Liked how you kept it straight during the run-on as well.

Thanks for the comment! Unfortunately it was a while back so I don’t have the met data for it now. But it was uncommon to have such clearly defined bands of cloud with absolutely gin clear skies in between ! One that could definitely catch you out- had we returned say, 20,30 minutes later, unlikely we could have landed back at Denham
