I was at the concert in Toronto on April 12th, and when this song started I immediately teared up and I was choked up the entire song. Its truly amazing how his music can make you feel so sad and also so hopeful for a better future. Darren Hayes is truly inspiring!
I grew up listening to his music back in the 90s when he first got started, it helped me get through the hardest times in my life and I'm so glad that there are more beautiful songs to help others when they are in their worst moments.
I will always be a fan and I will never forget. ❤❤❤

There is obviously so much thinking and processing underneath this... the musical influences, how you sourced the memorial lyrics, the whole process that led you to tell this story, the whole meta-fu to the haters/contrast of the disco-biscuit vibes with the resistance and resilience. I waited to play this until I could sit and listen. This is folk historicization, this is you living a legacy as a storyteller. Kudos to you and very proud. May this never happen again. I live the city next to Pulse and remember it well. It is a wonderful gesture to make a song like this. You had to investigate to some extent to get information about the lost souls so I hope you send this to all the families effected. I'm sure they will love the song and you Darren. I have to admit I was knocked over by the first line of text. Your comment nearly did the same.
I remember *exactly* to the finest detail where, when, what, how ect I found out. I was *not* near that area, but still in the U.S. my response was (as a brilliant creator said about recent legislation that I feel perfectly encompasses that moment we couldn't quite verbalize as we absorbed the information in shock) "When one of us hurts, we all hurt."
There was a nation of us 🏳️🌈 processing, working hard to get the *factual* story out (and away from spin), doing everything we could for support and solidarity - which, with distance wasn't much except raising awareness and the occasional sharing of a crowdfunding link, but the annual memoriams dwindled down (and media coverage much faster than that)...
Then here's Darren, who (practically a whole different "me" later) traverses time and space with that single sentence prelude and; I'm. Right. Back. There.
The individual lines made me want to blare the it down the street, cry, and hold every single loved one who recognized a name. While simultaneously, in his genius, I realized there was enough grief and wanted to take and request this track at every club on the strip which for many is the only place to express themselves in this "blue" city within a very "red" state.
