that all being said its great to see a lot of older artists who have been honing their craft for years get the recognition they deserve

Good subject matter. I'm an older cat who still loves to create music on my Soundcloud. Like many others, I was in bands as a youth, now am retired and really enjoying making digital music with a beat. ;-) It's in our blood til we check out, right?

I am right there with you. I'm 69 and still involved in music. I write songs for fun and only for fun.

Ah! its because older people have all the resources these days so if you want to make money you have to appeal to an older crowd. has a lot to do with the last half century of increased cost of living in relation to wages. yall are also some of the only people who have time to be artists, because you all made your money back before all the worker protections got gutted.

Great point! It's always a trade off - chase the dream now or wait until you've set yourself up financially.

@@indieconnect9328 but you will find that younger artists are not getting the level of financial opportunity older artists were afforded back in the day. on the political level there is definitely a "I got mine" vibe to it all, the way unions bargaining powers have been stripped, worker protections thrown out, wages falling further and further behind the cost of living, etc.
unless something changes a huge portion of my generation simply will not be able to afford to retire.
