    I’m reading Sir John Whitmore’ book now and it’s definitely helping me.

    I've started my journey to become a coach and found many difficulties to have such a nice, linear, smooth sessions as in your video. It is such a great example and thank you so much for your share here, It is really useful and gave me a lot more clarity. Looking forward to see many more.

      We're so happy it's helpful. Not all coaching conversations are linear so it doesn't mean you are doing it "wrong". Many of our coaching conversations will meander around the elements of GROW. The important thing is to be clear on what your conversation is focused on and end up with some kind of action, which might be something simple like 'to reflect further'. Do come and join our Coaching Crowd group Beatrice if you're not there already. We have lots of discussions like this :) facebook.com/groups/thecoachingcrowd

    I like how Jo went through the toolkit in the book using questions as she needed them for her situation. I’m always afraid to jump around. Thank you for sharing and free styling but sticking to the model.

      Jumping around is great! It's where coaches get to play! Clients aren't looking for the perfect coach, they just want you to listen, be present and support them with their goals. This often means a linear approach isn't what the client needs :)

    Thank you so much for this and your channel, I've recently decided to pick up my coach training again after a few years off and your content is amazing!
    I have a question with regards to this demonstration please and the Goal aspect, when the Goal was mentioned as 'to launch the ILM in Jan etc' would the coach not have chunked this down by asking 'if you had to break this down into different parts to get there what would they be?' and then 'and out of them what is most important to focus on now'? then would the answer to that final question not have been the goal?
    I'm getting stuck by understanding how far we need to chunk down to get the goal as I've heard there can be a topic, journey goal, session goal etc. Your advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Kim.

      It depends on what the clients wants, the time you have together, how easily the client can define wha they want to get out of the session. Chunking down in coaching is a useful skills but equally not all clients need the granular detail. Goals are important in coaching but the most important piece is the gap - what is stopping the client being able to achieve what they want. This is where the coaching takes place. :)

    Thank you I found this really helpful. What do you do if things come up at the end like limiting beliefs? Do you sometimes find that you go backwards and forwards a bit through the grow model? If you’re in the way forward section and you ask about the pros and cons of doing something and they say it might be a problem because X, would you then ask something like what are your options for handlingthat? Or would you schedule in another session?

      The GROW model can be used fluidly so yes, moving up and down the model is likely in reality. That said, you also have to manage time and if a client shares something that feels significant and you're almost out of time inviting them to bring it to the next session is a great way to honour what's been shared and also hold the boundary of time.

    The O and W in the GROW model sometimes throws me off. O is options so is it options of getting started or options of tying down the goal? W way forward or Will is that what is next?

    • @thecoachingcrowd
      @thecoachingcrowd  2 роки тому +1

      It's options of what you'll do to solve the problem/step up to the challenge. W is often used interchangeably as Way forward or Will, ultimately it's what are you going to do (having explored several options) and how committed are you to taking those actions - you want 10/10 commitment :)
