Change isn't always for the better. 'Development' can be a contradiction in terms. What an ugly replacement! Examples of good modern architecture in Chester: Northgate Arena, Boots facade, Replacement of old Police headquarters. Posts like this are so important. Thanks for the memories.
+Bransby Mcdonald-Williams 60's planning have a lot to answer for in city of Chester, they say it was old and below the require sanitation requirements, but they should have at least kept the front, its such a tragedy .!!!
If they'd left it it would still be there and popular, whereas now we're expecting the 3rd (?) re-development of that area. A lot to answer for indeed, not least the flares on that guy standing by the bus ;-)
+Bransby Mcdonald-Williams i totally agree, there is a local rumour / legend that the stones, are actually being stored in a council yard somewhere in the borough..!!! fact or fiction i don't know . You can still some of the front next to The Dublin Packet public house
It's the same as Wrexham indoor market, destroyed by a council who had no concept of history and nostalgia. Now most of the town is like a ghost town. Black and white buildings that have been demolished and too much out of town monstrous shopping. 😡😡😤😤
