When this film was shot I would be about 10. I went to St Werburg's middle school on Love Street and lived in Handbridge so my route to school was across the Suspension 'Spenny' Bridge every day. What innocent days they were, not a care in the world, across the bridge and through Grosvenor Park. Thank you for sharing Brian and bringing back so many happy memories.
Glad you enjoyed the clip. The chimney is certainly very prominent but I don't remember what building it belonged to. I was living in South Manchester at the time and often drove to Chester for a day out, being just a short drive along the motorway. You are welcome to use the clip. Best regards.
Lovely shots of Handbridge, where my Aunty Flo lived

Great clip with awesome public domain.
There were lots of swans on the river then and not just at the weir. On one occasion I counted 98 give or take one or two..they wouldn’t, keep still!
The tall chimney was part of the Lead works by the canal in Chester. It was demolished in the 80's and only the shot tower now remains.
Great job Brian, lovely editing.
Thank you, Caz.
Great clip! What's the tall chimney around 2:08?
