After 1100h in this game, it's hard to find new ways to play it, so to spice things up I sometimes like to play the game at 10X the power usage. That really changes the dynamics, a single base can quickly add up to a 1000 in power or more and batteries now play a much larger role.
I actually forgot about the depth of some custom games settings. I may come back for something like this after I hit NMS for awhile. That would be an interesting series probably. I also have 1,100 hours, btw, lol.
Rails can transmit power (and oxygen) and then also make it easy to move stuff between bases, in case you don't want to do extenders. There's a visual glitch on the power indicators on platforms for nintendo switch players when you use extenders, for any viewers on that platform like me
When i saw your other generator video i immediately asked myself "can these go on a large silo and still get fed on all sides" and now youve cone out with this video. Thank you 😭
Your videos are dangerous. I copied your power system for my dynamite factory after using solar and wind generator and now you have up your power again which means I can make more dynamite
Basically an uprated version of my power plant... I don't do enough to need that much, so I just went with one storage silo and used two regular smelters, one autoarm, two plants, and a medium storage silo to have a backlog of carbon for the generators.
I have one custom save where I have double power and it’s amazing with just 5 medium generators with a large storage item and a large platform b that has a medium storage canister on it. I’m using 2 of the plants from glacio to get the organic and I could make the system smaller with this
Well, the only advantage of extenders vs rail posts is cost. Which is that much considering rails give you cheap item transport vs ship hopping on the same planet, also load time of surface, space, surface.
when placing tappers one must talk in Count von Counts voice ya know lol btw you didnt give a disclaimer warning about putting all those gens up... my gods man my ears were bleeding from the sound of them lol
It's pointless, cuz tappers will divide their production rate between themselves, so there's no difference between one and couple tappers on the same plant
I guess this is the best way to make power just due to how little space it takes up and pretty dang good efficiency? Another question too is for the true flat area on top of the gateway how large can you make it before it starts to become like a big ramp
It doesn't take very long. If my base were 3 times as long as it is right now, it would probably be too much. I could definitely go double without it being a huge issue, though. I'm pretty sure it gets better the higher up you go, though. I explain why in my "Building a Space Station in Astroneer!" video near the end if you want to go check that out.
Yeah, it even takes up less space than RTGs when you do it like this. The tapper is so powerful that it's basically cheats, lol. Setting up a power structure this effective pre-tapper was actually quite difficult.
@@worldclassjerk-epicgamer yes pre-tapper i saw systems which needed alot of soil to convert to organic then to carbon and then you just build plataforms with alot of medium generators. But it wasnt automated because every certain time you need to gather soil
Because if I had done this with the tree from Sylva, I would have needed so many that it would have taken up enough space to require more auto arms. Having a really efficient plant makes the build compact in more ways than one.
I just fixed my soil to nano carbon alloy factory the first version you made and turned it into astronaut to nano carbon alloy factory while connecting it to an astronium auto extracting rail system, and just to make it faster I built it in every planet just because you didn’t upload yesterday from my boredom. Next time please upload on schedule but if you need a break tell us please.

I play on switch, but I've never used an extender

That's wild, lol.
How come you did 6 smelters instead of 8 though?
You did not just throw a medium storage off the edge and build one on the next cut😂 12:37
It’s mental illness man. 😭
@worldclassjerk-epicgamer well your mental illness is really triggering my OCD ;) Every time you threw something down, it really made me go 🤪
Thank you for listening to me good sir

instead of running power extenders run rails, that way as well as power you can bring astronium back to this base
Ah, I have a shizz load of carbon to use now. Thanks for the blueprints, dude!
:D
try putting a button on your platform to unpack all of the packed items on that platform at once. its so satisfying.
That as aways fun

They do be loud, lol.
You can attach more than 1 tapper to the same plant btw. Idk what the max is but I’ve easily used 4 tappers on 1 plant before
It's pointless, cuz tappers will divide their production rate between themselves, so there's no difference between one and couple tappers on the same plant
Unless something has changed, they will be proportionally slower the more you add.
@@worldclassjerk-epicgamer Yeah, that's what i basically meant (I'm not really English-speaking)
Ohhhh ok that makes sense
Lots of powah

@ so the best place to build a large true flat base would be way up in space is what I took away from the other video, correct?
Yes, though it may not make a massive difference, it will probably be noteworthy.
I have this system in my save and i would say that it saves you from doing alot of RTG

What's that game you were asking us about playing?
If you're talking about the community post I made yesterday, I was thinking about doing Unturned some time, but I'm still not real sure about it.
Why does it matter which plant is the best when that's the cheapest part
Because if I had done this with the tree from Sylva, I would have needed so many that it would have taken up enough space to require more auto arms.

He did say he's not uploading on weekends. He did Saturday because his internet was out on tuesday.
@ oh I forgot you have weekends on sundays our weekends are Friday and Saturday
Saturday and Sunday friend.
