Congratulations on your new babies! Love that y'all were laughing about the sugar -- ya gotta find the humor in a situation if there is any to be had so that you don't focus on the worry.
Love the horse comment. They are so so nosy. Loved the apple watch thing. I laugh so hard. I needed that. I love that you can love on each and everyone of your animals, bulls and all and they are your family. I know there are differents between you eating some but they are still a part of your family.
About a week ago I was watching on of those reality ER shows based out of Britain and a guy came in with a prolapsed colostomy. The amount of intestine that had prolapsed out of his stoma was a good 6 inches. They attempted to reduce the swelling by applying sugar all over the intestine in hopes to shrink it enough they could push it back in. Kind of like you guys. Unfortunately in his case it did shrink some but not enough and he required surgical intervention. Just thought I would share. Congratulations on the new life at the farm ✨
Oh bless Gabriel, he’s trying to take care of his animals lol. Bringing back my vet tech days…many prolapsed rectums in dogs. We used sugar to help, or like Wes said, stitch it back in. Thank you so much for sharing this side of taking care of the animals. It’s so good to have this kind of information in real time, as opposed to reading a book on it. Good to see how people react and handle these situations. And you have good hands to help you. Glad the calves are doing well ❤
I'm a city girl and definately won't ever have to deal with this, but I still appreciate the information and your care for your animals. 2 new calves! Awesome.
Sugar packs stop bleeding by causing inflammation. Sugar is massively inflammatory. I used to use sugar packs on my horses if they stepped on glass or anything that caused bleeding that wouldn't stop. It also was advised by my vet. The inflammation squeezes all the tissue together and causes compression
An old vet told us along time ago to use sugar on our black lab. She had been hit by a car and ripped the meat from her leg. By the time she got home it wasn’t bleeding, it was just a gaping wound. We packed her leg in an out with sugar. Then used pads with a gauze wrap. We changed it 3 to 4 times a day. We watched her hour by hour get better! She lived to be 14 years old! We have used the sugar, honey RX and feel it is a must have on any property! I wanted to send a pick and show her to you and I don’t know how!! 😂😂😂
I really appreciate the "real" stuff you share on your channel. But I cannot lie, I busted out laughing when you said, "if you don't wanna learn about real farm life, just come back later". You and Miah are wonderful, and I so appreciate you sharing your journey with us.
How great you guys have two new calves. They look wonderful. A bull and a female calf. They will be wonderful with you guys there watching over them. Hearts and Flowers coming your way. ❤️💐
I'm so glad everything ok, and this was entertainment for me, I learned a lot. In my mind, it did not dawn on me that Wes might have to stick his hand inside ginger, I jst held my breath for a few seconds while my brain connected the dots😂
Glad all turned out well. In our experience with prolapse in cows...we always always push it back in. Sometimes even sew it shut. I don't like having to stitch it tho...because if labor happens and youre not present you can't take the stitches out. We've not had too many in our 35 years of cattle raising. Thank the Lord!!!! Also....alot of times prolapse is caused by a lack of calcium. In nearly all animals. So have some on hand at all times to give in those instances. Calcium Gluconate
⭐Red Devon Cattle are descendants of ancient cattle breeds from the Southwest of England. ✴They have one of the > Purest Genetics of any cattle breed! Additionally, Red Devon oxen were often the choicest animals for pulling wagons west on the Oregon Trail. - Red Devons have historically been valued for their top-notch beef and particularly rich milk (used to make Devonshire Cream). They have historically been draft animals as well. - Over the last half century Red Devons have primarily been used for beef. - Red Devons were historically known as one of the most active (yet docile) cattle breeds in England. - They have the thickest hides of all cattle breeds, helping the breed resist parasites and remain resilient to temperature changes.
I worked with monkeys and had to push prolapse back. I did see on Vet Ranch where a dog fight resulted in a dog that lost the skin on top of his head. They cleaned it and sprinkled with sugar then added wet and dry bandages. Me being me, I burned my skin that pealed. I had to clean and try sugar. The edges of the wound pucker and slowly closed leaving no scarring. When the wound got ⅓ inch it was so itchy I quit using sugar. That scarred.
Jess during that downtime when you get your creative juices flowing you should invent a cattle keagle muscle exercise machine if that would tighten her up for next time.
Never a dull moment on a farm! Glad it all worked out well. ❤ Just wanted to say also.. the algorithm has for some reason started showing me lots of videos in my feed for your channel but like 4-5 years ago!? Of course I am subscribed, but still strange. Wanted to let you know
Sugar causes most heart attacks as well because of inflammation of the vessel causing cholesterol to get stuck and clog the vessel. Cholesterol is important in our body, sugar and things that cause glucose spikes (like bread) are bad.
Are you still eating carnivore? If not how long was it before you started eating veggies again? I’m trying to heal my autoimmune with carnivore now but hoping to get all the veggies again some day
No, because the calf was still in. If the calf had been born, it would have been correct to push it back in. But given these circumstances, we did not.
I SO appreciate this!! We had a kidding scare today that was somewhat similar. So happy both of us had good endings ♥
Congratulations on your two newest additions. I'm so glad everything worked out.
Mia made me spit out my water laughing at him about which sugar to use 😂😂😂
Is anyone else singing the song from Mary Poppins? “Just a spoonful of sugar helps the swelling go down”🎶🎶🎶😂
😅😂
😂😅😊🤣😇😇😇
Lol, yes you are my tribe.
Awe, so happy things worked out! 💕
Congratulations on your new babies! Love that y'all were laughing about the sugar -- ya gotta find the humor in a situation if there is any to be had so that you don't focus on the worry.
That is the absolute truth!! 🙌

Thank You God for good advice, good listeners and the new calves.
Y’all made me laugh with the “sugar” conversation in the beginning! 😂🤦♀️✌️🤍
I know - I'm cracking up. "Organic sugar for a prolapsed cow vagina is where we draw the line"
I have been through that twice with mine as well. It can be very unnerving. Good job caring for your animals.

*TUDO DE BOM PARA VOCÊ👏🏻*
Hey. Afternoon!😊
I'm so glad everything ok, and this was entertainment for me, I learned a lot. In my mind, it did not dawn on me that Wes might have to stick his hand inside ginger, I jst held my breath for a few seconds while my brain connected the dots😂
I saw that several times on Dr Pol
I remember reading "Creatures Great and Small" and James Herriot used sugar. Evidently an old remedy.
You draw the line on organic sugar lol
Miah just use the cheap sugar! 😂
I was just talking about you with sage and stone Heather
❤

Well I was prepared for gross but it wasn’t bad. Glad everyone is ok. ❤

Jess, you’re the best! Congrats on your newest calf 💜

Blessing Mommas🎉.
JO JO IN VT 💞☃️

Thanks, good to know about sugar and edema/prolapse. I wonder if that would be the same for goats?
Like Charlotte's Web the animals want to be in the know😊❤
We put sugar on rectal prolapses in the er on humans!!! Haha😂
Dang, the one beef cow that you keep had to prolapse...so much for trying to ease the stress in the farm. Will this happen every time she calves?
Where is your main buddy that always follows you around outside?
Are you still eating carnivore? If not how long was it before you started eating veggies again? I’m trying to heal my autoimmune with carnivore now but hoping to get all the veggies again some day
I really hope you name Ginger's calf, Sugar!❤
I love that idea! 💗
Bo wants to know what you are doing to his lady!!
So you did not push the prolapse back into the cow?
No, because the calf was still in. If the calf had been born, it would have been correct to push it back in. But given these circumstances, we did not.
Is Bo the father of this calf?
Yea
Well done Sowards 🫱🏻🫲🏽💚
