Anvil would also make him into a 5 dwarf doomstack
So… a one-man doomstack, just like Legend said. I don’t see a problem
@@kakdema that one's going in the book
@@kakdema no man doomstack. Fantastic

Biggest downside to no Anvil of Doom is having to walk around like a commoner
I definitely like seeing these one man armies without the Sword of Khaine. Quite refreshing!
Yeah, making an undying tank and then killing everyone with mostly sword of khaine active feels a bit boring.
@@ilari90 its the most basic one man army strat, almoast every lord can wipe an army with some skill and the sword of kaine. Kinda boring indeed...
I think its important to note that, unlike the other dwarf legendary lords, Thorek requires no limited resources. He provides his own rune of spite, so you don't need to give him the one you can craft. That makes him a lot more viable in my eyes
“Hah filthy graybeard thinks he can handle our superior elven breeding? They don’t even have magic!”
*every 30 seconds the earth erupts and the sky rips massive thunderbolts into their ranks*
“It… it’s not magic… r… right?”
It's SCIENCE!
A Dark Elf Dying because of Spite. A fitting end.
That many arrows flying into those trees could have probably clear-cut the forest, and those corpses piled so high he would have perfect cover from anything outside arms reach.
What a fun fight.
Urannon's Thunderbolt, especially the overcast version that Thorek gets, is an *extremely* high damage spell, it's just mostly limited by it's small explosion size. Fortunately the overcast version also get's a slightly larger explosion size, which really helps a lot.
Looked like it zapped the dragon for around 1000 damage at the same time as Thorek bashed it for 500. Definitely nothing to sneeze at, but with the long cast time it's no wonder it's primarily used against artillery.
Does it get larger size? I thought it get more thunder strike.
@@SleepyFen The overcast version does about 1600-1700 AP damage on a direct hit from the projectile itself. Magic and missile resistance will reduce that.
@@user-ti4di1uh2d Warp Lightning gets more projectiles, Thunderbolt gets double the damage and a larger explosion size.
Taped : Short grumpy old men's presence cause hearts attacks and thunder strikes around him.
free thunderbolt for a one-man doom stack is maybe as good as physical resistance on a weapon.

wood dwarf doesnt exist. He cant hurt you.
Wood dwarf Thorek:
Also the Anvil makes him large, therefore he's hindred by the forest, and the master, dreadspears etc. get their bonus vs large.
We all know that If Thorek ever got his hands on the SoK he will break that Elgi shit.
Like I always said: Size matters! And small is better!
It is now, that small lords don't go flying and don't spend half the battle on their asses anymore.
"It's small, but fierce"
"Monstrous size has no intrinsic merit, unless inordinate exsanguination be considered a virtue."
Nice
Wow a one man doomstack that doesn’t use sword of khaine as a crutch? 100% respect that
Today Legend answers an age-old question: Who would win? 3 Dark Elf armies or 1 Dawi Boi?
He stood alone against this terrible foe, his armour rent, wielding nothing but an oaken branch as a shield.
Man the anvil of doom mount is kinda lame for how hyped it is in "the lore", making it artillery or giving it some bound spells would make it have meaningful contribution beyond a bit of armor and health. It's so meaningless as a mount.
Thorek's Anvil of Doom does have the special bound "spell" Rune of Doom but yeah the normal anvil of doom is pretty lackluster. Used to provide bonus map-wide magic resistance but not anymore
Right. The flavor text describes it as the "greatest rune weapon" or something like that, how disappointing
I wish there was a victory banner that said “How the f did you win that* when the odds are that out of your favor.
I agree, I think WH3 should have victories like "lopsided victory", "absurd victory", "you're actually a Skaven, aren't you?" etc.
@@dwmarch that woud be awesome and a cool easy to do smile for my face :D
"Legendary victory" perhaps
@@weslone6967 *CA, are you paying attention?*
@@dwmarch I like "The true skaven" for when you beat a skaven army while not playing as skaven and it's absurdly against your favor.
The most satisfaction you can get in small unit scale is when you place a very accurate Uranon’s Thunderbolt and kill single entity from full hp. Almost every single entity can be killed by a well placed thunderbolt but it does different damage depending on how many thunder hit so for small unit like vampire coast lord you’ll have to hit pretty much in the middle of his head for it to kill in one cast.
It’s so difficult to do that each time you manage to do it a wave of euphoria would hit you like a truck. Not in a siege tho, those are easy since the don’t move much.

It's great to see the dwarfs
don't Thoreks and Thorgrims mounts have the advantage that they can't be flanked and thorgrims shields block all sides? or am I misremembering how their mounts work or is that specifically Thorgrim because he can't dismount?
also am I the only one who hopes for the invulnerability that comes from being knocked down to go away in TW:WH3? it makes absolutely no sense and has a notable detrimental effect on cav and monsters that just keep throwing enemies around and doing no damage.
I think it was to prevent heroes getting knocked down then dogpiled. Monsters and larger lords would absolutely obliterate heroes. Especially smaller ones like skaven and such.
However I agree dmg immunity is not the solution and it drags the fights and gets really annoying after a while. I think they should have some kind of stability mechanic where they can get knocked over, but then they get a buff or a timer preventing them from getting knocked around for a while.
@@Debilinside at the very least, the knockdown itself should do damage and dedicated anti-large heroes and lords should have full knockdown immunity imo.
I've seen anti-large heroes just get thrown around by a stegadon for 30 seconds without ever managing to land a single hit on the monster that it should probably beat 1v1. And I've seen cavalry charge into a unit of infantry and do virtually 0 damage because they sent almost every unit flying, I think they addressed this to some degree but I still see it happen in almost every campaign battle where I use cavalry and it sucks.
This video strikes one from The book Legend.
I feel as if he should be a 9/10 built like this. Up against probably his worst matchup and still came out on top. Those shades did nearly all the damage
"You're not hunting me, I'm hunting you!"
my last dwarf campaign i had uncle gromby and ungrim with rune of spites running around being 1 man doomstacks - pretty fun
That IS a heroic victory!
Ya know what I think would be interesting. You get a bunch of disaster battles and do a live stream of you trying to beat them. Or have people send in battles live if that was possible
He is a pretty good buffer of an army as well, to miss that with him one man.
Welcome to Estalia, druchii
careful to go into the forest, you could find a norse god able to smite all of your armies
God damn he won this ? This is insane , one man Dawi army real chad
I didn't even put him on his anvil in my campaign, seems a shame to lose the mini waaagh but klad brakak and the rune of spite are so powerful especially in seiges
With plethora of issues that Dwarves have in general, Anvils of Doom being an utter shite mounts is one I really can't stand. Together with lack of Oath Stones for Lords.
Gotta keep the Oath Stone as Belegars unique thing
Not only oathstones, but they should give a gyro mount for master engineers, shieldbearers for lords, and most importantly make all those mounts DO something useful.
Size has no intrinsic merit, unless inordinate exsanguination be considered a virtue.
would like to see a rule added to one man doomstacks: no sword of khaine
16:31 the lightning hit the tree that s why it did no damage
Not needing Sword of Khaine has to give him another +1 right?

'large is a disadvantage' of course it is even if we ignore the archer problem the vast majority of strong units favor attacking large units. But legend you know better than I do if we play the game as intended mounts offer a benefit in mobility, charge, hp. All things that benefit actual battles with armies...and for you it helps with the ai exploit when it comes to defensive positions to waste arrows as you lollygag around in front of them

I've always wondered how similar warp lightning is to uranon's thunderbolt, is it just the same spell but green, or are they actually different?
They are a bit different, warp lighting is multiple bolts rather than one, and has a slightly larger strike radius I think, but does less armor piercing
warp stronger
They're quite different. Warp Lightning has multiple smaller, less damaging bolts where Urannon's Thunderbolt is one relatively larger and very high damage bolt. It has a projectile damage and explosion damage that are extremely high, but in a fairly small radius. Thorek's bound version is actually the overcast version, which has double the damage and a larger explosion. If you can hit a single entity like Legend hit Rakarth, it can deal about 1600 AP damage.
Warp lighting is closer to the searing rain metal spell than thunderbolt
What the code in total war engine does for bombardment spell is that they spawn missile(s) from the sky that counts as the caster’s. The difference between warp lightning is that warp lightning have higher spawn radius, less damage and more explosive damage.
You can do just as much damage before turn 10 with thorek and the rune of spite vs skaven.
Hey Legend, does Rune of Spite stack with the runic talisman thing that gives him the rune of spite effect?
Believe they are the same effect, so I don't think so.
10:04, the AI fights back
My biggest question for the entire video is how the hell did whoever played this campaign somehow end up in Skavenblight with Thorek and the Nagarond Dark Elves
Really long campaign probably, or maybe not what the actual fuck
maybe used random map mod.
It's a strong character build, it can take on a lot. But is it fun doing a 45 minute long battle every couple of turns with it? This was tedious to watch without skipping through.
I don't think you should be going up against 4 full stacks every couple of turns, if it's happening, nothing prevents you from also using other armies
AI always underestimates one-man stacks. AI will probably send only 1-1.5 stacks at you at a time.
But I generally agree, Thorek's Quarrelers are super fun to use, no reason to have Thorek as one-man stack
I think these scenarios are specifically created to showcase the lord's power. I imagine they normally have an army coming with them
Yeah, I get all that. I've gone for one man doomstacks myself. Malagor and Grom were my favourites. I probably had to fight 3 full armies just once. My point is it was still time consuming and autoresolve is not an option in most cases.
One zap from Klad Brakak did like 1400 damage to that black dragon
The AI got tired of fighting
WaZZocks
destructible environments would be the biggest thing they could do for wh3
I had no idea that thunderbolt did so much damage, did 1.5k to a dragon at one point. that's kinda crazy.
Hated Rakarth to death.
Can't wait for a Dwarf rune pass to come, Wraith and Ruin is such a poor spell, they really erred on a very conservative side for it's damage. Start with not losing base damage when overcast and maybe more armor penetration on the spell.
I don't know if it's a new update or what but if there's only one forest to hide in the computer seems to send the whole army there.
He was also missing the army abilities for the faction.
Unless that's vortex only?
A perfectly balanced game lol
That's a grudgin
Played this game for ages, never knew that bonus vs large/infantry affected melee attack.
The information on the tooltip would seem to indicate that it only affects damage (as a bonus), that that would make the +8, +15, etc bonus vs. large on most Lords rather a joke, considering that they have hundreds of weapon strength already.
If it does affect MA, they do a poor job of indicating it on the tooltip, but then, CA is not particularly well known for clarifying things well on their tooltips (for example, see charge bonus, or how MD actually works... Etc).
For the enchanted item defense I'd say that the passive is worth it compared to the horn of the ancestors (you get 40% ward save when under 40% HP).
when under 20% hp
@@LegendofTotalWar True
Don't think it's strictly better in terms of mitigation (bc you need to get low first) but without gotrek trait or SOK it's the best you can find imo
my girlfriend sent me this timestamp 2:39
How did Thorek get regen? From Isabela's trait?
CA really blew it with the anvil of doom. The resistance buff is good but why the heck doesn’t it boost anything else, it should greatly boost weapon damage, armor, etc
dawi!!!
Yeah Thorek doesn't make a great duelist but he's surprisingly really efficient at anti-infantry. Not sure if his attack is different on mount as opposed to not as I only used him with but his AOE attack animation on the Anvil swathes groups of enemies at a time. That coupled with his tankiness makes him one hell of a front line lord.

Helman Ghorst any time? He has Mortis Engine passive. Someone please
Du Yoo Taek Me Fer A WaZzOcK?!
It seems that the dark elves eat the HE in a lot of people games but my games always end with the HEs slapping the dark elves suuper quickly. Ive never had to fight a Dark Elf empire late game
I'm willing to bet it's because when playing certain factions others gets buffs
EG playing Dawi -> Orks get cheats out the ass.
It wouldn't be a stretch if the DE and HE had something similar at play.
What about using a weapon that provides an AOE melee attack debuff? Effectively, a -10 attack debuff is a (melee) Ward save.
-10 melee attack is less chance to hit not ward save. If anything it's +10 melee def for your guy
@@Boxfortress functionally, a reduced chance to hit = Ward save, as it reduces your incoming damage, which was why I made the comparison.
Also, -10 MA for all nearby foes > +10 MD for all nearby allies, because it applies the full -10 to enemies on the side and behind, as well, whereas from +10 MD, you would have more like +5 MD on the side, and +2 MD on the rear.
A single angry dwarf Vs a Thot army simp
wooohoo!
What the fuck are dark elves doing in Estalia?
Even if you get the unbreakable trait wouldn't the gatekeeper belt still be needed for ther 40% ward save?
It's only active when Thorek has less than 20% health IIRC. So it never activated in this battle
Wouldn't it be "Anvils of Doom"?
only time I take the mount is if I want speed/flying no other stats matter for mounts looool
Is there a Settra one man army ??? or is it possible ?
I wanna see durthu doomstack
Anvils of Doom, not Anvil of Dooms

I understand that we don't want to see sword of khain spam buuuut... on him... He is just asking about that.
He doesn't have good weapon.
He need resistances
He need unbreakable to get better item.
Is his Thunderbolt ability stronger than the regular Urannons Thunderbolt? I feel like it splash area is bigger...
I think it's always overcasted
Is he better than edge lord Malus ?
Why do you need the unbreakable trait? He has over 100 Leadership
when he gets damaged and surrounded he'll rout at about half health
