I have enjoyed listening to this vintage broadcast over several listening sessions. I found that it brought about nostalgic feelings for more innocent times and a kind of storytelling which I think is now lost. Thanks for sharing this, I'll look forward to more in the future.
I listen to this every other week, mostly as background noise, but i do have to say: Peter Garrek is an absolute chad. Clifford is no doubt the typical man of action and certainly showed he's not afraid to do hard work, but Peter is just nutty. The man's been in isolation with only a handful of other people listening to stars and other cosmic noises, and when they discover the signal, he volunteers to figure it out. When the cylinder is brought up whose the first man to start work on it, injuring himself? Peter. The madlad cracked the code and translated the whole thing. When everyone was running around chasing the Dark One, he kept at it, discovering the weakness. The dude's a machine. Also i do hope one day there's an adaptation, or continuation of some kind. So many unanswered questions. Were the dark ones and Creators of the rods aware earth was inhabited until they sucked up the tools on the island? What about the impact of knowing that there's other life out there on our culture? How about Clifford and Elizabeth's paper? Did they still do it? Probably the most terrifying thing is, the dark ones can still get to the moon. What's to stop them from using it as a beachead? The story is very good but i would absolutely love a second part that answers these questions. I have a lot of thoughts on this story but i think I've said too much 😂

me too, i listen to 40's music when i'm driving. My Dog love it. She closes her eyes and rocks back and forth!!! She must be a old soul!
Exciting stuff from the best era of sci-fi.
I know this off by heart I've heard it so many times. Thank you.
