I wanted to see a performance of Miroirs and found this. I have seen it again and again and each time I like it more. The video is so well done to get every nuance of the Miroirs. through seeing the hands. And these hands are incredibly photogenic.
Imagine the boat in subordination of the power of the ocean's rushing waves...I think this pianist has the technical ability to brilliantly portray that image, as required by Ravel's depiction thereof through his use of sweeping phrases and arpeggiated figures...The ocean in not always slow and calm...but excellent pianistic skill and interpretation is nescessary to give justice to this piece. I could even sense the anxiousness and fear of the situation and definitely prefer this interpretation to that of a slower, and what would consequently be a more static performance...
I have never heard Ravel’s piano compositions played with such spectacular dexterity; it is superhuman!
Astounding technique, breathtakingly beautiful playing. Bravissimo, Alexei!
Mr. Tartakovsky makes each of these pieces positively shimmer with Ravel's genius -- and his own. Thanks for these lovely performances.
Magistrale interprétation. Tartakovsky mériterait d'être davantage connu !
I have rarely heard Ravel played this beautifully.
Nice. Thank you for making Alborada a dance, which is what it is...

my sentiments as well!
ugh we get it, you have a hand fetish 😉
That's the most beautiful Mirrors I've heard in years, reminds me of my beloved Richter, the end of La vallée des cloches moved me to tears, thanks.
Thank you, that means a lot, as in fact I consider Richter's 1965 Prague performance of Miroirs ideal.
Just incredible
Bravo Alexei
So outrageously good! Sumptuous playing. Thank you!!!!! Exquisite. And you make it effortless.
Absolutely wonderful performance. Nothing short of superb. Thanks ever so much for posting.
The performance looked so effortless😍
J’adore Ravel. C’est formidable!
Un barque sur l'ocean is definitely the best
Amazing!

Suono e fraseggio bellissimi!!!!!bravo!!
clean sound. nice all
Stunning!
I love it!
A little fast for my taste. Nevertheless, you can hear every note and the style is amazing. Exquisite.
dont much care who plays this, all good... is simply splendid music. King of the Kidz was M Ravel.

Oh, show the hands. That's why I was watching.
Yes! So frustrating!
I like the hand hair hehe
Doesn't he look just like Ted Mosby from "How I met your mother?"
(great performance, btw)

un barque sur locean is so rushed :(

French is french, nouns have gender, and "barque" is feminine ^^
So it's "une barque".
and yes, it's a bit rushed.
