You had to be coming age between 84-87 and been from Chicago to feel this....Ron Hardy was the mfn man here......he had a 3 day party at the Muzik Box one weekend....and did an edit to Loletha Holloway's "Catch Me on The Rebound".......the place went nuts.......RIP to a TRUE LEGEND
Came and partied, left went home slept for a few hours and came back and Ron was still going strong!!! 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿 Marathons were the shit!!! Memorial day weekend, Labor day weekend, Thanksgiving, Christmas!!!!😂😂😂
So glad to see Black Moses/Issac Hayes get credit for his song. The Warehouse in ChiTown cost eight dollars, partied from 12 midnight to 12 noon. Three glorious floors of HOUSE. House Music 4 EVA!!
Ron cut his teeth at Den One in Old Town in the late 70’s. I was there the unforgettable night when speakers caught on fire. He literally almost burned the house down !! I’d heard all the great masters. Ron was Picasso.
The first time i heard this Andre Hatchett, played this at a basement party fall 84. I damn near lost my mind!!! I have loved this song ever since! it is my all time # 1 house song!!!
ALRIGHT RONNIE!!!! That's what they would say all night in The Music Boz back in the 80s. When I first started going I gotta say I Mr, Ron Hardy use to jam. I think the first night I went I fell in love with House Music. Nothing but a big open warehouse but boy was it fun I remember coming out the club and the sun was alreay rising. RIP Mr Hardy and RIP to my always best friend Sean for putting me on to The Warehouse! FUN TIMES!!!!
Ron was the Truth!!!!...took the numbrr 4 cottage bus to the music box in Chicago winter cause that sound system was banging and did not leave til the sun was up!!!! God those were good times....thanks and RIP Ron!!!
Oh my God! The first time I heard this was in 84....Ronny drove us damn near to tears. If you didn't get a chance to party at the box between 84 and 86... You missed out on history!
People would lose their minds off this. I remember the Power House and it was like an insane asylum. Cats climbing the beams up to the ceiling, people pounding the walls, cats even in tears. Rest in glory Ron!
When they said Disco was dead, it went underground. A new type if DJ's emerged. Ron, then Frankie K, in Chicago, then Larry in N.Y. . Disco evolved into something that included all on the dance floor. "HOUSE" in this house there was room for all that came in. There were many more DJs, too many to name. But these DJ's touched are minds, body and souls.. Thank you...
I moved to north side chicago from Florida in 2008 and never heard of Ron until I started talking to old househeads this year. Everybody either smile or cry because they miss him so much. His mixes on UA-cam are crazy!
I'm a old househead and yes when you mention Ron Hardy we get emotional because he made such an impact on the Chicago House Music scene some of us that's in our late 40's and now in our 50's know about his legendary mixes at the Warehouse and the Music Box some of us like myself were there to see him create his magic live when he died we lost a true legend
Rest in Peace Ron I remember back in the day and we waited almost all night for a chance to hear this traxx and when it was played OMG!!!! the joint went off and when he played with the tweeters make it so high then slam the bassline .. he was a genius with the music.. thanks for UA-cam and the person that posted this and I can let my Kids hear the music I grew up with in Chicago...
man this joint bring back mad memories you really gotta be from the Chi to really get the full effect how Ron worked the crowd and house music, these youngsters cant even image just jackin nonstop and the the heavy bass just taking you to the point of sheer enjoyment only HARDY baby BEAT THAT SHIT RON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I was hospitalized coming out a coma my cousin brought me 2 cds of Emmanuel and baby the muzic saved my life RIP RONNIE we all love and miss you much
i can't stop this Music 4 ever In my head Isaac Hayes, Ron Hardy & Farley Funk doesn't wrong this song is one of the masterpiece of the House & Dance Music Respect
You know, at 1st I refused to listen to any of Ron's old edits. I don't know why. but it made me feel extremely sad. I could listen to Frankie old stuff but not Ron's. Ron actually lived around the corner from me when I was in my early 20's when I lived with my mother. He'd be riding the bus with the rest of us because he didn't have a car. We'd see him at Tops grocery store on 83rd and Crandon (he lived on 84th & Crandon and I lived on 83rd & Oglesby one block down and the next block over. We'd say "Hey Ron," and he'd say, "Hey baby. " Us girl loved him because he was a cutie (even though we all knew he was gay). But everybody in the neighborhood knew him as a celebrity but nobody bothered him cause he was like a big brother. If he were here today he'd probably be in danger. But everybody loved him and we tried not to be pests.
WOW !!!!! thank you for that story, i live inNew Jersey so i didn't know of any other "scene"but our own and years later i would hear of Chicago & Ron, his special mixes and it made me want to know more about him. Also i like hearing of behind the music type stories , yours is very cool, thank you for sharing that with us.
R'Mel Cornelious Sister that is a wonderful story. My brother tells me stories all the time about Ron. I was too young to go to the club, but my brother said that it was a amazing experience.
I hear this now and I wanna cry... I met Ron when he wasn't his best and I told him he sucked how wrong I was! No one! NOT even me can undermine greatness.... even before Frankie came to Chicago we had Ron and he did his shit like no other!! RIP RON IF FRANKIE WAS THE GOD FATHER YOU ARE THE GREAT GRAND FATHER!! THANKS FOR MAKING CHICAGO A COOL PLACE!!! HOUSE HEAD FOR LYFE!!
I heard of Ron Hardy growing up in NY and hanging out in NY and Jersey clubs but I didn't know too much about his work as a dj. I just knew of some of the records his name was on....until I watched the piece on him on the Maestro documentary. After that I searched around to hear more of his mixes. Definitely wish I heard him live!!!!
No comparison to hearing him live, he used do shit like play the record backwards and drove the crowds wild. I was turned out by Ron Hardy moreso than Frankie Knuckles
I'm from nyc too and a dj. never heard of him till a few years ago. I did my research and he was awesome. I listen to all his mix's and edits. I wish I would have gotten to hear and see him live. salute ron.
Marcus Austin and that's where he made his transition at. He went home. Only the Real Muzik Box heads and his personal friends know this. I have stories on some of these Ron pages. Even though I started at the PowerPlant I was turned out by the Box. When I finally got over being scared to go to the box and tried it EVERYTHING changed. I never ever went to another club while Ron was around. I followed him to every spot Robert opened for him. Anyway, I can go on and on. Ron, it's 2019 and in the 21st century and I still have you in my heart. RIP forever Ron, you are greatly missed to this day. You are an ICON in my book and you're very underrated.
@kev121 How right you are. Frankie and Ronnie were the best. Frankie on fridays and Ron on saturdays. Although I was a lil more partial towards Ronnie. I have fond memories of both. But that damn underground was like stepping into wonderland. I can recall as plain as day people dancing so hard and long they would pass out. Talk about dancing...OMG!!! THOSE WERE THE DAYS!! AND THIS IS STILL MY NUMBER 1 HOUSE CUT!! Ronnies version of let no man put asunder a close second!!!
@TOUFLS1 You're close. Actually Ronnie started playing for Robert Williams (Music Box) after The Warehouse closed (also owned by Robert) and Robert and Frankie parted ways. Frankie opened the Powerplant which was big on Friday nights and The Music Box was big on Saturday nights. People tried to create a rivalry between them but Ronnie and Frankie were good friends and very supportive of one another. People need to stop trashing one to big up the other. It disrespects them both.
If you havent cried or climb the pole at the music box or just lost your good dam mind off ron hardy you lying or you never been to none of his partys im ron hardy for life
ANOTHER CHI TOWN CLASSIC AN YES RIP RON... You remember it's about 4:35 am an you just got finish smoking another joint HIT the fruit bar an this fine Ass sister just walk by, you grab her hand an HIT the floor again sweating an shit..LOL..but your gear was on point, you got your fresh Guess jeans on with your Gucci belt on an those Gucci shoes an that GA tank top on flexing cause you in shape, pull her over by the speaker an got your freak on end up HITTING that morning.. I'm so late getting to this. I'm hearing it for the first time. I use to spin the Farley Jackmaster Funk - Love Can't Turn Around version. This version is sick and I'm loving it.

She gave it to me!🤩🤩🤩 Unfortunately, I was quite miffed when it didn’t sound like what I heard at the Music Boxx. Welcome to the world of edits!!! Whew! This song among many others gave me life! Thank you Ron for being the awesome F’in DJ back then. Never 4gotten!!! ☮️&❤️
Ron HARDY WAS TRUE BLUE,YOU GOT DJ'S THAT CAN PLAY HOWEVER, CAN'T BEAT THE BOX LIKE RONNIE. I HAVEN,T HEARD NO DJ BEAT IT LIKE RON. No disrespect son, but I can't take you serious when you say that scratching Farley took something to a higher level than Ronnie did. People who went to the Box and the plant, didn't even listen to djs that played on the radio! There was Ronnie and there was Frankie. Every one else was not even on their level.
I have been searching for this song for sooo long !!, first heard it a few years ago it was on a mr mendal mix (lumberjacks in hell) just came across it today just by chance, so happy !!
@ANDREA DILLON YOU HIT THAT EXACTLY RIGHT!! THATS THE CLASSIC DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RON AND FRANKIE-- RONNIE REALLY KNEW HOT TO BEAT THAT BOX!! VERY WELL PUT!
You don't have to be from Chi town to appreciate the edit, quality that's for sure. Danny Krivit also did a re-edit of this track that came out on a now defunct UK record label Strut about 10 years ago. They only released a dozen or so tracks but each was quality. Sure the details will be on Discogs. Respect from London UK to all the original Chicago House heads.
My brother made sure before the basement parties was over he played this song and that’s why I remember it so well cuz they went crazy when the deep house music came on. R.I.H DJ Fat Cat
A pal sent this tuneage on and how thankful one is.. Rewound.. Or pressed replayed... Proper build up with that rift at end.. Not just nicey, scrumptious.
I must say i'm 43 now and i don't dance anymore. But this song took me back. It's like i go into a trans and the music takes over me.And i'm going crazy.I miss you Ron....
New York this was the first time was featured...... sorry new York nobody from chi new Larry levan and company....as a matter of fact I heard Larry levan shit it didn't come close to what Chicagoan term house music...sorry try try again...nor Frankie knuckles.... Frankie self titled himself as the godfather of house... Frankie didn't have a following like ron I know I was there
im going to look for this record. i loved this song. i love hearing dj rahaan edits of songs. hes truly near editing like ron(imo) and djs emmanuel, boogienite as well. oh shoot i almost forgot about dj rush as well. ron left a legacy that cant be imitated.
I was in Chicago for a month in March. When I get to the Chi. I always drive my brothers Denali. I pulled up the The Dating Game club Bumpin " I can't Turn Around" on the CD and people still went totally crazy. Big Ups Chicago, Big Ups, House, Big Up Ronnie, Let's Go Ronnie, WHOOOO !!!!
Preach brother...Man i used to get the holy ghost when i use to hear this at Glenwood roller rink out there in Harvey,IL,,,Or when i was at Odgen Park...
hey pals you really three turnin' around and round with your ping pongs arguments, music grows like a tree with many roots, spreading all direction, anything little things can influence another, it's all modern music anyway, just play the record ok, for real … I'll spin some Issac Hayes ;)
Den One, Chicago 1976. Ron Hardy kept on the dance floor all night. This was one of my favorite songs to dance to. I wish I could find an edit that Ron did with Labelle's "What Can You Do For Me/Messing With My Mind". Anybody know where I can find it please let me know!!!.
Kids... if your just finding this masterpiece - This IS House Music!
Thank you!! 🔥

Andre Hatchet.....damn that brought back memories:) I had forgotten about Andre, damn i;m slipping in my old age
Badass post. Ron Hardys still touchin people like me with music. I thought I knew about House Music but this stuff is getting me to the core!
Touching generations in a way I'm not sure he would ever have appreciated he would. True talent / genius.
I remember the House party in Chicago I use to hear this was a jam
I have been searching for this song for sooo long !!, first heard it a few years ago it was on a mr mendal mix (lumberjacks in hell) just came across it today just by chance, so happy !!
@ANDREA DILLON YOU HIT THAT EXACTLY RIGHT!! THATS THE CLASSIC DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RON AND FRANKIE-- RONNIE REALLY KNEW HOT TO BEAT THAT BOX!! VERY WELL PUT!
2 classics gone issac& ron so they really took it with them......the tight tight mix may they both r.i.p.
So true. You had look like somebody in order to ever get in. Much party prep for us back then than for this generation.
This is the shit nobody can do this like Ronnie did.
This a true masterpiece, we feel the music love inside him...a real master and DJ #ronthebest #houselove
My brother made sure before the basement parties was over he played this song and that’s why I remember it so well cuz they went crazy when the deep house music came on. R.I.H DJ Fat Cat
Yes he did boy we would sweat to this joint
Beautiful! Been a fan of house and house mixed into funk and disco for decades.
I Love this Isaac Ike's Groove. Love the Horns 😍
WOW. This is giving me LIFE! Can't believe I'm just now hearing this genius shit.
just feeling lucky to have even heard this thank you
yes sir the birth place of it all yo Chicago rocks
A pal sent this tuneage on and how thankful one is.. Rewound.. Or pressed replayed... Proper build up with that rift at end.. Not just nicey, scrumptious.
I must say i'm 43 now and i don't dance anymore. But this song took me back. It's like i go into a trans and the music takes over me.And i'm going crazy.I miss you Ron....
Same here n its 2017
Lord Have mercy....Not the Den...How many Saturday nights did I hit the dance floor there.....Did you know Johnny Green who worked there?
Excellent - even sounds better distorted and warped up on the Ron Hardy (RIP) tapes from the 80s...
This was out way before the 80s it is disco Ron just remixed it. It starts off slow like most disco r and b records did back then.
Bangin!!! my first time hearing this, wow the joint! thank you, peace
I remember hearing the original version in the clubs in New York back in 1974 before house music!!!
That right this music was played in NYC in Philly way before House.
We know this lol...House gave it a resurgence...
True it did
RIGHT!
This one is so awesome. WOW.......Thank you Eleazar! PEACE
Musical. Genius he. Could. Literally. Turn any song House
house can't get any deeper
This is way before house this disco r&b
This isn't house it's disco the original starts of slow.
Then goes into the dance part
love this mix!
And they STILL DO at the Dating Game!
Preach brother...Man i used to get the holy ghost when i use to hear this at Glenwood roller rink out there in Harvey,IL,,,Or when i was at Odgen Park...
hey pals you really three turnin' around and round with your ping pongs arguments, music grows like a tree with many roots, spreading all direction, anything little things can influence another, it's all modern music anyway, just play the record ok, for real … I'll spin some Issac Hayes ;)
waaaah where dis been all my life
Work!!!!!! those were the days. We use get our life to this. Work. Nobody work this like Donald Stone in Catacomb's.
You know this is IT!!! GREAT POST!!
I can just hear it..."Friday Night Jams on 1-0-2-point-7-FM, B-M-X!
