I bought and now have both in my greedy FOMO hands. 😅 They are both beautiful, and I cannot stop looking at them and holding them. I love Fude more than makeup, and I love makeup. The brown bristles, the lovely Keyaki handles...these brushes are small but mighty. Thank you for this review! And I'm really happy for you that Beautylish sent these to you. Be well, Beautiful Alicia. 💞
I remember that Mel Thompson had a final buffing step in her makeup routine. Everything blended so beautifully! These brushes look beautiful, and I love your in-depth reviews of brushes.
OMG! I have been really waiting for Alicia's brush demo and review. (like ever since Tuesday the brush release, visiting Alicia's channels 5 times a day to check updates) But in the meanwhile, I have already bought myself TWO keyaki buffers. Because: 1) I love the keyaki series, love both the thoughtful buddle of the brush sets, where I get to try a bunch of mighty delightful brushes from Sonia. So now, Keyaki 1, Keyaki 2, and Keyaki traditions trio later, I have learned a habit of setting alarms so I don't miss the release. LOVE the keyaki set because I love both the wood finish on the handle, also love the shorter handle, which allows me to stand closer to the mirror when doing my makeup. (so I can observe the minor details) yes, they are not only travel brushes for me, they are my daily workhorses. 2) the buffer brush is indeed a unique trade mark to Sonia G's craftmanship and innovation in brushes. Ever since I got my first smooth buffer in the blue handle, I love it so much and use it every day. I missed the legendary Face One release, because, at the time, I was financially not eligible for this high-priced fudes yet. Then I wished to get a buffer brush with a shorter handle ( Preferably keyaki of course ) for an on-the-go touch-up. 3 years later, Sonia gave it to me!!!! My makeup life is complete!
Yes Alicia come thru!! Mine came yesterday and I’m obsessed. I do kinda wish she had gone with the smaller smooth buffer, though. That’s my absolute favorite Sonia brush and I think it’s a bit easier to maneuver on the face. BUT I still live for these! Btw your eyes look incredible. I’d love to see a vid on your fav Tom Ford quads!
Thanks so much for reviewing. I just got both brushes today and they are on my drying rack. Can’t wait to use them tomorrow. I couldn’t decide between the bronzer and Niji Pro, so when I saw the Mini Keyaki Niji brush I was thrilled. Sonia G brushes have been such a game changer in my makeup routine. You mentioned storing brushes. Can you show us how you store yours?
Omg I just bought mine I cannot Wait!!!! Love everything about Sonia G brushes and you make me love it even more!!!The way you explain the brushes is so Dreamy!!!! Thank you!!! 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎
I went back and forth but ended up picking up both. I have the Face One, Niji and Jumbo Bronzer, and I don't regret my purchase at all. You really nailed the descriptions and uses. So soft and beautiful, but they really get the job done. Not just for collectors!
I'm also so drawn to that short handle for some reason! It's just so damn attractive.😂Since I have terrible eyesight, having a short handle is helpful since I need to get up close to the mirror. Thank you as always for your detailed and thoughtful review! 🥰
Always coming through Alicia with these comparisons.! 🎉I think I’ll get the keyaki niji and the bronzer brush. My last purchase was the mini keyaki set and I LOVE them. Perfect for my sensitive skin. The denser brushes are a bit scratchy since my skin is super sensitive but way better that her original fan brush. I also love the fusion series so I have to get the eye fusion next.
The production of the Keyaki Niji is quite fortuitous for me. I wanted a powder brush and ended up choosing the Face Pro because it sounded like the Niji would be too dense, whereas the Bronzer would be too big for my small face. I wanted the Niji to be just a bit fluffier and not deposit too much product, while still providing a directional application, and it sounds like that is what is being delivered. So I’ve ordered that one. I really don’t have a need for another more general powder brush now. After faffing about and missing out on the Mt Fuji brush, I got onto Fude Beauty and got the round ferrule Koyudo Kakishibuzome brush, the Chikuhodo Z1, and the Chikuhodo FO9. It is very interesting comparing the different fibers. What a dense puff ball that FO9 is!
I received mine yesterday and I haven't tried them yet. I'm just savoring how beautiful and weighty they are. They will be a cherished addition to my other two Keyaki Mini sets and I love them.
I purchased both as well. I have the original version of both but I’m in love with the short Keyaki handles. I hope she releases all her brushes with this handle style. They will all be mine!
Well done Alicia on another fantastic and thorough review. I am so happy these beautiful brushes were gifted to you! I use only Sonia G brushes now, they are all just divine 😍
I missed out on the Keyaki before, not this time. I was waiting for a review and Alicia came through once again, I know I finally made the best purchase, have been drying to try a bronzer brush from Sonia for years, couldn’t find the perfect one for me. This is it!
Now that I am traveling more…this completed my set…and it is my perfect travel set. I needed the bronzer and finishing brushes…and had been adding to my travel kit both brushes. So excited about this launch. Love her brushes. As always, you do such a great job explaining how to use the brushes that I cannot wait until video comes out!
I’ve been waiting for your review on both brushes, more interested in the buffer, I have the Smooth buffer and I love it but always wanted the other one, now she has it with the shorter handle that I think I’ll like even better. Just ordered it, thank you, I was hoping it wouldn’t sellout before you reviewed them.🥰
I automatically bought both without hesitation. It’s Sonia & if Sonia is putting her name on a brush I’m buying it. I’m considering backups now… 😅 Thanks for the review Alicia! 💜💜💖
These are my 3rd and 4th SoniaG brushes and you are a big influence on all the purchases. Your reviews are so thoughtful and thorough. Thank you taking the time to help us fude novices!
I only use face brushes for makeup b/c I don't do eye or lip makeup and Sonia G. has been my favorite brand (I haven't really tried some of the more expensive squirrel fude, but I'd tried Rephr, Sonia G., Koh Gen Do, a Wayne Goss or 2, and a few others. The first Keyaki set didn't strike my preferences, but I bought the second Keyaki set as jumbo base is my favorite foundation brush and soft cheek is my favorite blush brush and I can even use it (less efficiently) for bronzer/powder). The rest of the brushes in that second set were reasonable fillers but I wanted a travel buffer brush and a larger airy bronzer/powder brush. When I saw this release I bought both to "finish" a travel kit, but was slightly disappointed she chose the Niji that I'd skipped in full size b/c I felt it would be too firm, vs. the Jumbo Bronzer or Face Pro. Hearing your review I'm actually glad though, as the shape makes more sense for a travel kit and the decreased density is more likely to fit my preferred style. I do wish she'd gone for the smooth buffer size, but that's nit picking.
Yes, what a beautiful brushes. I have ordered them both, and am waiting impatiently to get my paws on them :) thank you for your review - makes me even more excited to have the brushes 😊
Yey! Been waiting for your review on this new release even if I already bought it. Hahaha You’re my brushes guru Alicia! Thanks for everything you do for us! Hugs from Indonesia.
i had them in my cart for a while, wanting to wait for your description / demo / review….. IF i hadn’t seen this video they would probably have remained in the cart till all stocks are gone, but as it is, you showed me that i need them in my life !!
So I decided to add one to my collection! I'll go with the buffer! Edit. I purchased both brushes. Hopefully, I can get my hands on the second set she released 🤞🏾
Hey there, Miss beautiful Alicia! I'm excited to watch this and hear your thoughts and watch your review on these brushes. I personally don't own any Sonia G brushes as of yet, but you are influencing me that I absolutely need to try the brand 😊 I hope you have an amazing blessed weekend 💜🩷🤎💙🩵💚🧡
Alicia, Picasso would have been envious of your brush collection. Please help me out.....if you were to choose between the Keyaki buffer, and the Sonia G. Smooth buffer, which one will you choose? Thank you.....your opinion is gold to me. 💞
Looooove you vidgeos! Question for ya: I don't use a finishing powder but will go over t-zone with my setting powder again at end. I don't use powder foundation, powder blush or highlighter. Only face powder is bronzer I rarely use. I am a swiper on setting, fyi. Just light setting of liquid foundation. Is the keyaki buffer worth it for me in this case of spot finishing of tzone? I have never buffed my powders for fears you pretty much eradicated, lol. But I use cream products that I enjoy for their luminosity quality being cream so don't wish to powder over...
Ok bye Alicia, I’m heading over to Beautylish now. 😂 But seriously, I’ve been looking for a buffing brush for months now, so this in-depth review has helped with my decision.
I agree but I find face 1 too light. Sonia said she uses hers for mineral foundation makeup but it should imo only be a finishing brush. I'm hoping new brush is stiffer, much more dense even though it is dense its too airy and cloud like for what I need it for 🤔
I only picked up the keyaki buffer, together with three of the fusion face brushes. I have the niji pro already, bu your review made me want to get the keyaki version of niji too😂
I'm here!! I have the first mini set! Love. Beautiful brushes that elevate your makeup application! I missed the second release 😩. Its says " available soon" so my notifications are on! I may pick these up as well! I'm still on the fence on getting either the Fusion or Skye set. Any oppinions?
@Peach Speak thank you! I was leading more towards that! Unfortunately, I don't like either color option, but....I can compromuse. Her brush are stunning and effective!
@aliciaarcher if you're just starting to build a quality brush collection, especially the high quality japanese style brushes, what do you suggest getting first? Like a starter collection?
I know you asked Alicia specifically but I think it really depends on your makeup style and preferences. For example some people don't wear foundation/prefer sponges or fingers for foundation so a foundation brush is unnecessary. Foundations also come in powder, liquid and cream form and different brushes will be better for each type, not to mention the type of coverage or finish you're looking to get on a spectrum from sheer to full. Then of course there's preferences for application - pouncing, sweeping, buffing etc... this is just foundation but you get the gist ;) If you're looking to try Japanese handmade brushes, I recommend you start slow by introducing brushes that will fill a gap in your makeup needs. For example if you feel like you're eye brushes are not blending well enough or if they feel scratchy, or if you need a foundation brush that will leave a natural finish with no steaks, or a blush brush that can pick up hard pressed/baked formulas. Handmade brushes can get super expensive and it's important you get the ones that are right for you. I recommend you check out the fude subreddit and maybe post there to get specific recommendations tailored to you. Specifying your routine+what kind of products you're using in each category in terms of formulations, what you're looking to get in each category - for example coverage, impact/diffusion, if there's anything specific you need your brushes to address - oily/dry skin, sensitive skin/eye area, hooded eyes, small/large eyes, small/large cheek area.

Once these sell out they are gone for good according to Sonia so if it’s something you know you want you may need to go ahead and get them. They may not last until the next gift card event.
I prefer the regular size brushes maybe if they were weighed. I have the first set but they feel too light. I ended up buying the full sizes equivalent.

You can’t buff with these brushes if you use liquid and cream products, right? Sonia said something on her blog that made me think maybe you can but it ruins the brushes or something, right?
You would probably need to wait until the foundation sets a bit, or use an un dyed goat hair hair brush first to set, then go in with the Buffer afterwards.
