Remember a wire brush and aluminium Don't go well together so use a brass brush if your head and cylinder are aluminium
That's a good point!
What did you polish it with after the wire brushing?
How do you clean out all the grinding material that fell into the intake and exhaust ports, do you use high pressure air or solvent or both ?
Yea, I used a solvent and a blower nozzle on my air compressor.
Did you have to replace the valve seals or did the wire brush clean them without moving them?
I wire wheeled them and then re-lapped them with valve grinding compound.
One trick that helped me, was Purple Power! And the wire brush!
I've always used a wire wheel and Scotchbrite pad. I got in trouble with my machinist when I did it on gasket sealing sufaces lol. Apparently it rounds the edges.
How did you remove the broken bolt. Did you make a video on that.
Nahh, I didn't film it. I grabbed it with vice grips, used a torch, and PB Blaster. Then slowly worked it back and forth until the broken bolt came out.
Acetone and transmission fluid will melt it off this is to much work man
I just did my cylinder head cleaning, there is a better way to do it! By using Scotch Brite pad and carburetor cleaner together, just scrub it down by hand. You will do it in no time and without all the aggravation, try it.
I'll give it a shot next time.
Doyou know how tofast forward.
You can view at twice the normal speed by positioning the cursor anywhere on the active screen and holding the left mouse button down - you will then see in the "fast forward" mode and in addition, you will see "2x >>" displayed within the screen picture. 2024/02/27. Ontario, Canada.
good thing he didnt soften that carbon up with a solvent.
Maybe this video should be retittled "The Back of my Right Hand"
Good idea
Soak it in dawn over night
Dawn is a degreaser. AFAIK it won't work on carbon deposits. Do you have empirical evidence for your suggestion?
