A few years ago I owned a 1997 Chevrolet S10 Blazer with a Jensen flip-out single din that has HDMI. I used to bring my SNES classic edition to work with me and on break me and one of my friends would go out to my car and play street fighter for break time. 😂
Not a ps2 but as a kid one of my uncles had a dogged out Tahoe with blue leather seats and it had a 2000s ass blue wrap on it with led all around the interior. Coolest part to me was that he had a slot on the floor where a Xbox 360 fit and he had it hooked up to the whole car. Core memory for me.
The PS2 runs off of 12v DC power which means you can skip the inverter and just wire up a correct sized DC barrel jack. With the Phat model you'd need to use a PSU replacement but with the slim it's plug and play.
Yeah you definitely can! However this method is ideal for using any console, plus it’s easier and more readily available. But both ways work! Thanks for watching!
Absolutely not imo. The cars power is dirty, so maybe using a USB PD car charger and a USB PD emulator set to 12v could clean the signal. Also cars output 14v when they're running, which may put more stress on the device.
@@EddoWagt You could but why do that when you can use USB PD and have 5/9/12/20/24v direct options instead. and bad buck regulators would be might be just as bad as plugging it right into the car anyways.
That's tight! This was something I always wanted to do just because it reminds me of the tuner scene from 20 years ago. It was even mentioned in a hip hop song 'Rollout'..."PlayStation 2 up in da ride." Thanks for the helpful step by step guide.
So cool! I put a PS1, PSP, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox360, Dreamcast, Switch, N64, NeoGeo, Snes, Nes, GBA, GBC, Wii, WiiU, GameCube, and Sega Genesis in my car... I call that a Steam Deck.
One note on powering the PS. A lot of inverters are not very high quality and, over time will damage your devices. The reason they damage your devices is because they’re sending square waves of electricity and not smooth, inverted sine waves. If you’re going to go this route, find a solid pure sine wave inverter. Another, and in my opinion better option, is to power this directly off DC power with a DC to DC converter. The PS takes DC power so you’re essentially taking 12v and inverting it to AC and then the PlayStation power brick is converting back to DC. This causes a loss of efficiency and ultimately a bit of heat. Check the specs on the lower brick of the PS to see what voltage DC it supplies the console with and with how many amps. Once you know that, you just need a DC to DC converter that will accepts 12v DC and output the PS requirements. Many of these have a range and you just turn a little screw to adjust the output voltage. Hope that helps or at the very least sends you down a deep rabbit hole which spits you out a transformed electric god ⚡️
Exactly this but with a Focus MK1 is my dream since years - one day I am gonna do it too (And oc for NFSU2) Thanks for the video- glad that they are still people out there with the same thoughts 😍
If you want to be more efficient, you can find a barrel plug that fits it directly, as it already runs off 12 volts, or if you don't want to run more wires in the vehicle, you can put a PD trigger board inside the PS2, making it USB-C powered.
if you use a dc-dc converter it's more simple, as you don't need any inverter power supply. the dc-dc converter can be set to step down the voltage to 8.5 and it's perfect for the ps2, i did it in my car. the cool thing is that whatever voltage goes in the dc-dc converter, the output will be stable to 8.5
4:08 this is a good moment to tell people that : if you put a cd onto the playstation while driving you 100% guaranteed you scratching that poor ps2 cd game ( or any other console that uses cd for games thats basically almost all consoles) , this is a great opportunity to tell people that you can mod your ps2 and install all your games onto a ssd or usb that way they keep their masterful ps2 cd games in prestige conditions.
