Oh you know what... The Secret World/Life? of Alex Mack!!! Fantastic show. I loved it so much. Bless Nick for launching Larisa Oleynik with that show. We all wish we could turn ourselves into a puddle of mercury-looking goo and travel undetected. What was it, Compound GC161? Even the theme song is extremely catchy. Once you remember it, that's not leaving your head. Any chance of a review on that?😄

great video, I look forward to salute your shorts. Also consider Spaces Cases, My Brother and Me, the secret world of Alex Mack, and of course Clarissa. Oh, and maybe All That. I grew up on Nickelodeon, so I could list these all day.
Thanks for the trip back through memory lane. Hey dude, salute your shorts, the new tomorrow people, snick, etc. were my jam for years. Great retrospective!
I specifically remember watching this show because I thought Danny was really cool. Joe Torres also did a great job playing him, so that made it much easier to like him. I really only remember him and their boss!
I actually watched Hey Dude and Salute your Shorts!!! Both were pretty entertaining giving what we had to choose from unlike today’s kids. Great video!!!
Funny, I remember the theme song, and the characters but I don't remember anything about the show. I must have watched it a lot. But I can't remember anything about the show other than the opening, and the soundtrack. I had completely forgotten the show ever existed until I saw this video LOL Keep them coming!
I loved Hey Dude and was way too old to be watching it when it aired....basically the same age as the teens. Loved it. Loved the tension between Brad and Ted and didn't care how silly the shows were. Thank you for putting this together!!!
The "stock pictures in frames" comment must have been an inside joke. Kelly Brown modeled for those before (or during) Hey Dude. I remember seeing her picture in one.
I'm too young to know this and I think it never came to Germany however I find it very interesting to see what shows there were that nobody remembers. You also make a great job showing us what this is all about which makes it easy to follow :)
It's not that no one remembers Hey Dude, just that it was so generic, and bland with nothing really sticking out it's hard for most to remember details of the show. For me it was what I call a time filler show when there was nothing else to do, but watch TV, Nick was trying to fill a time slot on Saturday/Sunday afternoon, and you where waiting for something better to come on like an episode of Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, Salute Your Shorts, etc..
I remember learning the lyrics to Whoopi’s Ti Yi Yo in elementary school. It is dogie that is used in the lyrics. Dogie is a runt calf. Clearly the most valuable thing I learned in elementary school.
Great video. I’m of the same mindset, having great memories of “liking” the show. But, as you also stated, I couldn’t recall any of the episodes. But, I believe this show fit in well as a time killer for us during that era. Nickelodeon liked to do surprises.

You brought back some good memories of my childhood lady. Our shag carpeting was orange but damn was there a lot of wood on that TV. And I always had Cool Ranch... :)
I used to watch shows on a big tv with a huge box around it that was all fancy looking with engraved blocks 😆 and the knobs that you had to change the channels OMG it sounds so long ago my kids actually laughed when I showed them pictures of that tv. They don’t know how easy they have it
Watching some of the clips, it felt as though I had watched them yesterday. They had so few episodes and repeats, they are drilled into me. Nice job, I think you know Salute your shorts has got to be next. The Doug video was awesome too, just a great show.
I've been binge watching these retrospectives wow its like my childhood all over again. And these are better put together than the actual shows, really great job.
Does anyone remember Are You Afraid of the Dark????????? Specifically I remember an episode where they are trapped in a mall and the mall is actually a pinball machine and they have to escape this giant ball and other traps.... The pinball could be wrong but if anyone could help me find the Trapped in a mall while it's closed episode of AYAOFD I will love you. Edit: K I found it S1 E13 Tale of the Pinball Wizard but it's either the wrong episode (Tale of Bigfoot Mountain or something) or reviews so again can anyone find it legit???? Edit 2: found it. Guess Google can find YT videos better then UA-cam can lol
You are a review writing genius, and a presenter genius. Such great analysis and amazing gathering of evidence, historically connected cultural phenomena, and presentation. I'm watching everything.

This was my absolute favorite show. I even bought a pirated version off of eBay. I did meet my husband while we both worked on a Dude Ranch... so it was kind of prophetic for my life😂
I remember so much about the characters and the campy antics of that era of Nickelodeon. The only episode I truly remember is the one when Mr. Ernst hid clues all over the ranch inspiring Ted and Buddy to go on a treasure hunt only to find Mr Ernst's poetry hidden. That episode actually stuck with me as a kid and helped me to be able to write my own poetry later and enjoy taking drama classes in middle school. We need more Mr E in this world.
i remember this theme song lol. salute your shorts and pete & pete was my shit growing up. i got old school vibes from a couple of these videos. loving this channel
The Third Eye , The Tomorrow People ,& You Can't Do That on Televesion. Not to mention Are you afraid of the dark Were Great! Count Duckula & Danger Mouse, Wind in the Willows. Classic!
i remember hey dude, but it was similar to salute your shorts. if i had a pick, i prefer a dude ranch over a summer camp ^^;; i like horses and the landscape. Both shows got me wanting to go to a summer camp, which i ended up going to one. It was a fun experience and went a few summers. My last summer was sad as it had a lot of controversy with girls finding a dead body in the woods while we did a rest room stop. And we come to find out the camp director had child porn on his computer :( nothing of the campers, but was still sad to hear.
I'm not making fun of this or anything, but what you just described seriously sounds like it could part of the plot for one of the Sleepaway camp horror movie sequels.
This was great! I've tried to find episodes of 'Hey, Dude' for years and have always come up empty. I remember never missing it as a kid. Thanks for the retrospective!!!
Awesome video. Wish IMDB message boards we're still around. There were 'updates' thru the years on the whereabouts of Joe Torres. Some we're funny, some sad.
Whoever was in charge in making that decision to remove the message boards on IMDB should know they are a very disliked person. Website's not been the same without them.
This was my absolute favorite show. I was also horse crazy and watched anything with a horse in it. But it wasn't a phase, I have my own horse now that I'm an adult 😂
Oh man, old Nick stuff pushes all of my buttons. Here's a random thing: Mysterious Cities of Gold (which ran on Nickelodeon early in the morning in the 80s) was a French show animated in Japan and translated into English. 30 years after the original season a season 2 was released and it's better than the original run. There's also a season 3, but it hasn't been translated into English, yet.
So, during the first few minutes of this, I sat in my living room and sang both the full openings to Hey Dude and Salute Your Shorts. Thank you for bringing back a little bit of my childhood.

Watching some of the clips, it felt as though I had watched them yesterday. They had so few episodes and repeats, they are drilled into me. Nice job, I think you know Salute your shorts has got to be next. The Doug video was awesome too, just a great show.
Another EXCELLENT retrospective! I grew upon Nickelodeon too and I'm looking forward to the "Salute Your Shorts" retrospective! Keep it up!
yippie ti yiy what
I've been binge watching these retrospectives wow its like my childhood all over again.
The crimson clown and the ghastly grinner are the ones i remember. Ya had to google the titles.
9: 40 in... Still no history of the show.
I remember this episode. The weird computer virus, the magic soup, and the Tia and Tamara special.
Dailymotion has them ALL!
:)
I watch them all the time!
Lance Seaman yup. I remember the end of the episode the pinball was rolling down the escalator
I'm 40 years old this year....I wish I could go back in time to when I was a kid again....
You are a review writing genius, and a presenter genius. Such great analysis and amazing gathering of evidence, historically connected cultural phenomena, and presentation. I'm watching everything.
Do you remember Welcome Freshman?
Mr Lipman does.
We need a Mervumentary
Yes! And round house!
Round House was far superior to All That.
Omg, another show I hate watched as a kid (along with Hey Dude)
I liked Married with Children when I was young.
Still like it to this day :/
I’m feel that way about unsolved mysteries.
Yes to both of these comments📺
@@erinkarpinec3678 you probably already know, but you can watch unsolved mysteries on UA-cam for free. It’s on Amazon prime too but you have watch more ads. 😁
My cousin wasn’t allowed to watch Married with Children at her house and I Wasnt Allowed the Simpsons at mine so when we spent the night at one another’s houses we snuck watching each
This was my absolute favorite show.
This was one of my favorites and I loved all the same shows as you
The Third Eye , The Tomorrow People ,& You Can't Do That on Televesion.
Wow, that's pretty heavy
I'm not making fun of this or anything, but what you just described seriously sounds like it could part of the plot for one of the Sleepaway camp horror movie sequels.
...Is the time you spent at your last summer camp based on a horror movie? Because it sounds like it O.O
This was great! I've tried to find episodes of 'Hey, Dude' for years and have always come up empty. I remember never missing it as a kid. Thanks for the retrospective!!!
This is a really great and complete retrospective. I'll definitely watch any more you do on these shows i grew up with!
@@TheSpogNYC haha, I totally agree! I always ran there to figure out who certain celebs look like lol
I miss imdb boards, I rarely use imdb now
This was my absolute favorite show. I was also horse crazy and watched anything with a horse in it. But it wasn't a phase, I have my own horse now that I'm an adult 😂
Being horse crazy isn't a phase, it's a lifelong passion.
@@bezoticallyyours83 and now my 7 year old is the same way 😍
Oh man, old Nick stuff pushes all of my buttons.
It has. I use to have them before on my hard drive before it crashed
This video was 1000x more enjoyable than it should have been. Thanks! Great job!
So, during the first few minutes of this, I sat in my living room and sang both the full openings to Hey Dude and Salute Your Shorts.
Thank you for bringing back a little bit of my childhood.
Maybe The Other Cast Members,&,Crew Members do Know Where Joe Torres is,But he Asked Them to Keep it Secret,&,They’re Just Respecting His Wishes,I’m Not 1 to Press That Issue Though
Those of us in Tucson know where to find him
@@HMPennypacker oh,Cool,I Don’t Really Care Though Just as Long as He’s Alive,Healthy,&,Happy,I Hope That For Anybody,&,Everybody Who Hasn’t Had The Misfortune of Crossing me
LOL... I can sing that theme song from heart like 30 years later
Hey Dude was my favorite show back in the day. I had the hugest crush on Brad.
Me too! Brad was my favorite.
wow I think im starting to remember these episodes as you are talking about them. i must have known these characters back then, took me right back.
I really enjoy these! Thank you for making them! It's far better to just watch a well put together review of the show rather than daring to go back and watch the episodes. I really doubt I'd be able to sit through one now, lol.
Hey! I'm from Tucson. Tucson has very mild weather considering it's the desert. It actually snowed here a week ago.
I used to love this show, Welcome Freshman, and Salute your Shorts. I always wondered where everyone went.
Man, I forgot entirely about Welcome Freshman. Salute your Shorts, on the other hand, I vividly remember.
@@thegardenofeatin5965 I still have the catchphrase "Freshman...what a curse stuck in my head". Mentioned it to my son who just started High School. Wish I could find it so he can watch it.
Welcome Freshman! I remember that one 😄
Hey Dude, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better
Hey Dude, don't be afraid
You were made to go out and get her
The minute you let her under your skin
Then you begin to make it better
And anytime you feel the pain, hey Dude, refrain
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders
For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder
Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah
Hey Dude, don't let me down
You have found her, now go and get her
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better
So let it out and let it in, hey Dude, begin
You're waiting for someone to perform with
And don't you know that it's just you, hey Dude, you'll do
The movement you need is on your shoulder
Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah yeah
Hey Dude, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her under your skin
Then you'll begin to make it
Better better better better better better, oh
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Dude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Dude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Dude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Dude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Dude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Dude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Dude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Dude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Dude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Dude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Dude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Dude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Dude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Dude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Dude
Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Dude
Thanks for bringing awareness to Autism
I hear that song the same way lol
That's one of the reasons I like watching your videos. You sometimes hit a lot of nostalgia buttons for me. Now I just need to find someone who watched Disney at 5-6 AM.
Love the nostalgia, you're definitely my spirit animal today! Living like the 90's!
SANDWICH
yams
You did a surprises!
This was great! Please Do more Nickelodeon Show reviews!
Who's the meat?
Did someone say sandwich? Can i have a sandwich?
Salute your shorts should be next.
Hey dude was my jam when I was young. I loved Melody. It instilled my long love affair for David Lascher. Plus it has Ben Stiller's wife in it.
Ex wife
Please do more of these, THIS WAS AWESOME!......The nostalgia vibes were heavy with this one, felt it in my gut for sure...
"The History of" request.....Salute Your Shorts, The Adventures of Pete and Pete, Guts, Wild and Crazy Kids, Eureka's Castle, ALL THAT, Are you Afraid of the Dark?, Round House. I anxiously anticipate the next one. ;)
This is a great video! Thank you for making it. Pretty interesting to see that Joe is just gone from any social aspect of Hey Dude!
Wow, you really like the Monkees. That's cool.
I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!!! I went nuts every time it came on! I miss these days and this Nickelodeon!!!!!!!!
This must not have made its way to Canada, I’m pretty sure I would have watched anything with horses in it.
Very thorough and entertaining video though.
Had to have been on YTV on some point but not sure how to check... I had zero recollection of it but when this video appeared in my recommendations I 100% remember it, just never watched it.
Haaaa, that's why I watched it. Animal planet also had a horse show.. I watched EVERYTHING that had horses
Didn't remember this too
Your videos give a warm feeling of nostalgia thank you 🙏
I loved this show growing up! I watched it as a teenager and have fond memories of watching this as well. I did go back and watch 5+ episodes a few years ago and realized it wasn't as good as I remember. But I still enjoyed watching it and remembering my childhood.
