Trying to Get to You was originally released in 1954 by The Eagles (not the California rock group from the 1979s) - an R&B band on Mercury.
Elvis first recorded it in 1955 on Sun but it wasn’t released until 1956 on his debut album - renamed Tryin’ to Get to You.
What's interesting about this is that this is his original band from back in the 1950s when he was very young. But in the 1968 Comeback Special, they had a segment in the Middle where they reunited him with his old band, and I don't think they even really had much of a chance to practice, they were just kind of sitting there like a front porch jam interacting with the audience in each other and just having fun. But I would say everybody in that band was amazing. They really were.
And the one difference is that bill black the bass player died super early so he wasn't there so it was a different guy for that but it was another guy that had played with Elvis a whole lot.
But these are his old band mates man. You know what it's like to do something like that. I know you know. It's like being on a really tight team that goes in front of people all the time and does this under heavy pressure and lots of difficulties and that's what Elvis came out of and so did everybody in his early band which is what you see here. You can tell they just love being back around each other. I think it's really great.
They were a great creative team! If it wasn't for "Col. Parker". things would've been very different! Imo
