I'm from Russia, he was my mothers favorite singer and this is probably her favorite song from him. I was born many years after his death, but this song brings me so much nostalgia. Thank you for the reaction😊

He was very loved in Italy too, my mom, my aunt and then my cousin and I loved him. Demis also sang in Italian. 😍
Thank you for this vocal analysis, I really appreciate the breakdown of the function of his vibrato / flutter. A lot of people really adore his voice (including myself) and feel totally bewitched by how it works!
He was singer of crazy prog rock band Aphrodite's child in 70s, his voice is so unique. Honey for ears.

Demi's was part of my life since my now late brother brought him into my life in the 70s. he was like the title of one of his LPs Magic very sadly missed RIP
Demis was massive over here(UK) in the early 70s with his poppy take on Greek music , but i think his best work was with the legend Vangelis in prog band Aphrodites Child , try The Four Horseman for a starter .
Not only that, it is just that he stopped career and when restarted at 1982, he didn't have exposure. His 1973 solo and 1982-83 solo albums are the best.
1979-1982 he stopped due to health issues with weight and depression.
A great greek that belongs to the whole world!!!!! Music taste is irrelevant when it comes to such an artist .

Oh, Aphrodite's Child was basically the voice and the composer, Demis Roussos and Vangelis. Conquest of Paradise and Chariots of Fire as examples.

I wish though your were introduced to Demis Roussos not in his later 1970s career where the business attracted to his voice had his songs overproduced & overbeautified. Yes I wish you listen to the *raw qualities of his singing* which were more obvious in his years with the band *Aphrodite's Child* where also the lyrics were not commercial. One good example is *I want to Live* from 1969: /watch?v=0zezVBsfmBQ (just paste this after the link of this site). Also She Came Up from The North or Fire & Ice from 1971 away from his band but still without the business overproducing.
