    Just bought it a few weeks ago its the best thing for charging over night ...you don't have to keep switching out batteries during the night ,it will charge each one in sequence...and knowing which tools use the most juice while working helps...my air pump (for my bikes) uses very little juice, my fan uses moderate juice (works better on high speed), my drill uses moderate juice ,
    My 900 lumen light uses moderate juice , my 18g air strike nailer uses very little juice , but my mini router uses a lot of juice ,this let's me know what to keep charged all the time.
    I really pleased with this super charger and the fact that Ryobi has stepped up their game with their batteries...im a pro contractor/ handyman and have stepped up my ryobi tool collection...if you haven't gave them a try I think you should .

    I have an old supercharger and a new one. They work great. I'll swear that by putting my old NiCad batteries in these and just leaving them in it until I need to use them, they now charge better than they ever did and seem to have just as much power as they did ten years ago when I first got them. These chargers maintain and condition the batteries in them. Your batteries will last a lot longer.

    Thanx for the info. I have 26 batteries. I got rid of all my single chargers and bought 3 of these. The footprint and cord management is so much nicer now. Gave me room in my shop for more tool storage and they work great. For those that want it to charge all 6 at the same time the over heat created and the blown breakers would piss you off to no end. I make sure that at least 1 bank of multi chargers is always full with 4 different amp hour capacity batteries and has work terrifically for me.

    Great review, as usual. Home Depot seems to be becoming Ryobi Central. It's hard to know which line of tools to adopt, however, because it's definitely too expensive to switch back and forth, given the price of batteries and chargers.

    Was thinking of getting that charger thinking it'll charge all at once! I'll keep my 6 separate Chargers mounted on a board and get all 6 Charged within an hour! Ryobi should have an option to buy the Chargers separately! Thanks for posting!

    Here's Our Problem with this and the older 6 bank charger. Let me start with I have 2 of the 6 bank chargers. 1 mounted in an outside bin of our service body truck. Got it to save space as he suggested and obviously to charge 6 batteries at a time. Well that's not clear on the boxes that it only charges 1 at a time. Problem is we have about 20 batteries so 6 stay in the charger and when the one is fully charged we grab that one and put another in its place which causes the batteries down line from that port never to get charged unless we do not need any batteries for hours. Now yes, I understand Ryobi is supposedly for homeowners but we've had great luck with all the tools thus ( when I say this its very real) that we have every single 18 volt tool but 2 and a couple of the Yard Care items ( even have many of theses as well) and love them and the fact they do keep the new tool fitting across the same battery platform over our 15 plus years in business . We are big Fans but if you go through batteries at a fast rate as we do individual charges will work best.

      It sounds like you are a rare case.....keep in mind the huge majority of users for this charger......doubling the price to make it charge multiple batteries at once (like some other brands) would be better for you --- but most people would be paying for something that they just dont need. Also....I am surprised you arent just running 4-5 of the DC versions of the chargers (ends cut off & hardwired into a junction box) in your worktruck to eliminate the need for an inverter.

      We just plug the fiscal truck in at the jobsite, Also have 2 additional single chargers mounted to the toolbox wall beside the 6 bay charger but actually thought about my comment today when I took 4 batteries back to the truck to plug in. Good thing was it was long enough for 4 of the 5 batteries already on the charger to be charging. BTW Hopefully Ryobi is listening and will come out with a framing nailer so I can dump my last Paslode, already gotten rid of the finish nailers thanks to Ryobi's battery ones. Thanks

    I really like the snap in function so the batteries cannot fall out. the charger should be able to do more than one battery at a time, but at least you have a nice and secure way of carrying them to the jobite.

  • @TheMechanicalPhilosopher
    @TheMechanicalPhilosopher 8 років тому +31

    This still looks very convenient but I would think for the size and price they could at least charge more than one battery at a time. I normally use two single chargers and this doesn't replace that. Thanks for the review.

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  8 років тому +4

      +The Mechanical Philosopher Thanks! I think they are more-so going to convenience (not monitoring 6 batteries & walking away to let the charger to the rest). $40 for the regular fast charger or $80 for this one......if you got two of the others, it would charge faster, but you'd be limited to two ports VS 6 ports.....so it's a toss-up as to what is more important to you.

    • @MM-qk9wx
      @MM-qk9wx 5 років тому +2

      While I fully agree it would be much more convenient to charge all the batteries at the same time, I imagine that could potentially cause an overload on the outlet, with six large batteries taking quite the drain. I could be mistaken, of course.

    • @juergenwelz2591
      @juergenwelz2591 5 років тому +2

      If it's 30 min for a 1.5 Amp hr P102, it's putting out about 18v × 1.5 Ahr ÷ .5 hr so it draws about 54 watts. Factor in a bit of waste and the fact that the final voltage is closer to 20 and you can figure about 65 watts per battery. All 6 concurrent would be under 400 watts which is less than the typical 15 amp 110 v circuit of North American homes. Less than a 1\3 the draw of a toaster or most hair blow dryers that run over 1200 watts. The expense would be multiplying the checking/charging circuitry by 6. That would be a pricey charger. If they could time slice multiplex that aspect, it would still more than double the price of the charger for the multiplexing and physical duplications of the charge electronics.

    • @nathanburt6053
      @nathanburt6053 4 роки тому

      I agree. But I will say that it is nice to store 6 batteries as it will trickle charge them as well. So great for the workshop not so much for the job site

    • @markm2265
      @markm2265 4 роки тому

      @@MM-qk9wx no, it charges one battery at a time. Even still, it only draws about 70 watts to charge a single battery, your toaster uses 1,000-1500 watts when you push the lever down. Simple math says, 6 x 70 = 420 watts draw even if all batteries were charging at once, which they dont anyways. I like this unit.

    I'm really thinking about getting into ryobi. I have a couple dewalt, but they are just so expensive, and I don't use them that often. Just around the home diy. I don't want to say this charger is pointless, but nearly.. Why couldn't they charge all 6 batteries at once? I guess thats why this charger is $80 bucks and dewalts is like $300. Dewalts charges all 6 at the same time (at least I think it does) and doubles as an inverter for 110 v devices powered by its own batteries. But I'm not a professional who makes money to be able to afford tools like that. But if I really got into ryobi batteries, and had the vacuums, miter saw, circular saw, reciprocating saw, and had some batteries die, I want it to charge them all at the same time so downtime is minimal. As it is, with the new 6Ah batteries they have, it takes the "fast" charger 2 hours, according to another reviewer. I just bought one of the flexvolt dewalt batteries, (also 6Ah) and the dewalt fast charger and that charger charges the battery in less than an hour. I haven't timed it, but its quick. so to wait for this battery charger to cycle 6 batteries at 2 hours each, you will be down for 12 hours...

  • @Coordinator03

    I see a problem, when 6 dead batteries are loaded and the first one is charged and you swap it out with one you've been using, it will charge the recently swapped (probably warm/hot) battery before it continues its cycle. Therefore, tthis charger only works when you want to charge 6 batteries while you sleep.

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  8 років тому +2

      +Sang Doan When you remove a charged battery & place another in the port, it will not charge it until it finishes the rotation of the other batteries first. This is because once a battery is charged (or removed), the charger will automatically start charging the next position.

      Ryobi has no real warranty.

    • @gtencc
      @gtencc 5 років тому

      The warranty process is not difficult. I have used it twice for the brad nail gun and reciprocating saw. You just take it to any Home Depot that has a tool rental department and they will send if off to Atlanta for repair. The con is that on average it takes around 8 weeks to get the tool back. In my case for the reciprocating saw, since the cheapest version was ~$65, I just bought another one while waiting for the repair, however this depends on which the tool and how often you are using it. Another possible issue is the 2nd time I used the warranty, the store charged me a ~$20 processing fee. Since I had taken it to a different store than the previous time, I'm not sure if this a store discrepancy or if they changed their warranty process.

    • @alextaylor9521
      @alextaylor9521 4 роки тому

      @Jerkster Ryobi usually has a 3-5 year warranty and you just walk into Home Depot to do it. But if you are using Ryobi for professional environment that warranty is only 90 days. So you are right from a professionals point of view.

      Just call them (this was for a cheap battery I have no idea about the actual tools) and they'll usually just send you a new one if it's a obvious manufacturing defect or DOA. If you did beat it up a little it may be harder.

    • @benigo15
      @benigo15 8 років тому +3

      +Real Tool Reviews actually it would not, ryobi's own website says the charger only pulls 85 watts max and that is only to charge one battery, therefore it should only take 85x6 = 510 watts to charge all 6 batteries at once which is roughly half of what the average microwave draws. Also running the math 510 watts / 120 volts gives you a mere 4.25 amps and the average breaker size in household circuit is between 15 and 20 amps. So in short no, you would not draw too many amps and pop breakers.

    Seems a bit odd to have a mains powered charger like that limited to one battery pack charging at a time - its either a limitation of the input power or they haven't put much thought into the design of this.

    • @GigaDonk
      @GigaDonk 8 років тому

      +Apex Maybe if it were to charge all the batts at the same time, it would charge them at a much slower rate so they settle for charging one at a time to get at least 1 fully charged asap.

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  8 років тому +1

      +Apex Two reasons --- cost ($79 vs $100-$150+) & limited power consumption. This prevents overloaded circuits & wont pop your breakers. If a charger is charging multiple batteries at once, the amp-draw increases 2-3xs depending on how many are installed. This is more-so for space savings & convenience. It allows you to pop dead batteries on & not have to "watch them" to swap out charged ones with discharged ones.....install, leave, and come back to all fully charged batteries.

    • @MrSGL21
      @MrSGL21 8 років тому

      you can't over load a 15 amp 110 volt circuit with just charging 6 batteries at a time. you are looking at 500 or so watts as someone else stated.

  • @BGraves

    Thumbs up if you were just trying to figure out if yours was broken only to find out it only charges one at a time. What a piece of shit. Six single chargers screwed into a board would take up less space....

    A very unusefull device! What is the point of having a miltiaccu charger if it only charges one battery at a time?! I have 8 Ryobi batteries: 5 5Ah batteries and 3 2.5Ah batteries. Since 5Ah will need considerebly more time to get charded I have to consider where to put them in the charger to get them charged first. If you are a professional you need a reliable tool. If you have let's say 6 hours to get the equipment ready, with my set of batteries ready to be charged, I will never have them charged on time with this Ryobi miltiport charger. One thing is positive though, with this Ryobi charger you need to prepare in advance or have your batteries sitting in the charger. The problem arises wheen you have more then 6 batteries. I'd rather waited for Ryobi to release a real multiport charger. Meanwhile I will buy 8 separate chargers:-))

      If all your batteries are fully charged over night, then you charge your batteries through the day as you use them up, you should be OK, that's the way I do it when I'm doing a job that I'm going to be doing that requires me to use my cordless tools all day.

    • @AJohnsonJr
      @AJohnsonJr 6 років тому

      For 80 bucks, it's a great device. I can't see a situation where you're burning through 6 fully charged batteries while having 1 of them charging at any time. Pair this with a single port charger that 99% of Ryobi users will already have, and you're set. The key is having all of your batteries fully charged before the work day begins, which makes this charger very useful. Toss 6 dead batteries in at bed time, and wake up with 6 fully charged batteries. The only time this charger becomes less useful is in a situation like yours where you're in a time crunch. In that case, you'll need two additional quick chargers at a reasonable $40 each.
      It doesn't appear that multi-chargers are very common. I did a quick search and didn't find much.

  • @rhargarther1
    @rhargarther1 6 років тому

    If Ryobi Engineers had any common sense they would enable the multi charger to charge all the batteries at once.
    Yes it is somewhat convenient to be able to put 6 batteries in one charger and have them charge eventually however it still seems to defeat the purpose of having a 6 Port charger and only have it charge One battery at a time.

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  6 років тому

      6 ports charging independently at the same time = 6 chargers in one body.
      6 ports charging in sequence = 1 charger with 6 ports in one body.
      There are three major problems that would occur had they went with your suggestion:
      1. Cost would significantly increase.
      2. Heat generated by 6 batteries charging at once would be much higher than just 1.
      3. Power (amps) needed would overload circuits & pop breakers (unless they were all on a super-slow trickle charge).
