This little foal is bringing such joy to us all who watch your farming videos. Brenda's kindness and joy shows us that there is hope for the animals and joy to behold in this world. that is so important that we remember joy and keep it in our hearts during this time in the world.
Bree is such a sweetheart. It's so cute watching her make every move her mama does! Lady is a very attentive mom!! I look forward to seeing Bree grow up!
This is absolutely the greatest channel in the world I love the way you are explaining everything and just use the horses to take care of your farm it warms my heart it brings me to tears half the time because I just love draft horses to begin with and yours are just absolutely beautiful and the new little filly, ohmygod she is beautiful cannot wait to see what you guys have named her!!❤❤
When you are mowing, I like the way Bill looks down every time you go around the corner to make sure that he’s walking right at the edge of the tall grass.
My gelding is Bill. When his little brother was born and was marked almost exactly the same. Our grandson said he is Bill II. So now I had a 10 year old and 6 year old team named Bill. When I say Bill, they both perked their ears and paid attention. The best part of this is that the older brother was no longer as pokey and kept up all of the time. They were sold as a team. The new owner has a Bill and says they work well as three abreast.
A joy to watch Jim and Brenda and their low key, wholesome approach to life and the way they interact with the horses and other farm animals.❤ Love the sound of the “horse-powered mower” clipping off the hay. Lovely video for us city dwellers. Spring is beautiful but busy time on the farm👍🏻😀Greetings👋🏻 from Ontario Canada🇨🇦
I'm with Brenda on names: There is a given name, then there is a nickname that naturally occurs to you in the course of life that you wind up actually using! LOL! My son and daughter have their birth certificate names, but they both have nicknames that I use more often than their names. It's a sign of familiar affection IMHO.
Please can we see a bit more of Lady and her baby,ďont you think Lady looks in great condition. Oh she just dotes on her baby girl, she's so proud of her.Thankyou dear friends ❤
What a big name for such a little filly! 😍 It suits her though, and you'll soon discover which of the names sticks for use in the barn. I'm really looking forward to watching her develop!
Look at Smart Bill! He looks to his right as best as he can with his blinkers and gee's over and checks out the cut line. He literally is measuring how to line himself up for the next pass. That's a super handy horse right there. Watching them make the turn is so satisfying. Jim, I'm curious about how you hold your lines. Can you explain?
Great video angles, Brenda. Fascinating to watch the grass (hay?) being cut that way; I've never seen it before and you have allowed me to watch as if I were there. Celebrating the new filly with you both!
Love you two your my very favourite couple and channel. 🎉 CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW LIFE ON THE FARM. THE NAME CHOSEN IS GREAT ONE. LOVE ❤️ from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦🍁🍁🇨🇦🇨🇦
I really enjoy watching the hay process, it’s so relaxing. Princess Brie Joy is so cute. I love the way she follows her mom , it’s beautiful watching natural instincts of a baby . Congratulations 🎈
Beautiful name for such a princess..so glad to see her out in the grass and sunshine..those little legs will be strong as iron..Lady is in great shape and Luke most horse Moms she is shielding her from danger.. Thanks for taking us along haying..I've been waiting to see how you do it..I remember all the steps especially the last 2 - picking up the bales onto the wagon then unloading..wish I could return to those days..nothing better..as always prayers and blessings
Love the Name Of Lady's colt Bree! Also I bet the smell if the new cut hay is so sweet best time of the year too me. Haying season is the best just like most of summer! Prayers for an abundance of hay for the horses .They earn their keep and and are a blessing too watch.
My daughter, Joy, and I love watching your videos. We especially love the name Joy. And that psalm about Joy coming in the morning is one of my favorites. My little Joy is so excited to share her name with your filly.
Brenda, don't worry about any name changes for the new Philly. I have a sister who first called her son Brian, then it became Bri, now it's simply B!😂 When you told us her official name was Princess Bree Joy I immediately thought of PB&J (Peanut Butter and Jelly)😉
Nice haying show there Jim, Bill , Ken and Barron... That cutting with the sickle mower though has me in Aww... I don't think i can cut that clean and straight with the tractor! Wow!!
Brenda, you are an amazing videographer. I really enjoy your work. I love the process y'all used to give a name to the filly...lol. Happy haying and thanks again. All the best.
Im addicted to your videos and all you share with us. I live in upstate massachusetts and they are haying here this week too. Small dairy farms near me nothing commercial. So interesting to watch all you do with the horses. The new filly is a happy bonus.
The little filly looks like an absolute Joy to be around! I like the name Bree as well but it could be confusing for her when she learns to Gee…Bree Gee. 😉
Princess Bree Joy is a great name and I love it ❤. The filly sticks so close to Mama Lady which is a precious sight to see. Lady is good Mama. God bless you Jim and Brenda..
Such a sweet name..I love the mixture, can't wait to see what it turns into. Hay as truly come early this year. We had thought we had a week or so before haying but the guy called us early so now we have a barn full of 1st cutting hay that is very green, soft, and smells amazing. The boys love it so it's a huge hit at my farm. 😂😊
How about Princess B’Joy??? If you register your horses, might? be a good one for that...And just call her Joy, around home and the barn, since that name certainly has more than one significant meaning??? Fits and Makes Sense? Naming the babies is always so much Fun, lol!!! God Bless All, 😇 🙏🏻
I had a friend that served in Vietnam Nam. After he was discharged he didn't think he was going to farm but they drove by a fresh cut hay field and he farmed for 30 years! :)
Another beautifully scenic video. Just a helpful comment, that commentary is your 50% of great videos. You could Tell us about the grass, the type, moisture levels, how it feels being cut. Tell is about how it feels to pull tbe reins, which horse is pulling harder, all that. Tell us how it feels to be doing when you're doing it - and why. Keep up the good work!😅❤
This reminds me exactly of my father mowing with the horses. His horses were very well trained and he let me ride the back of one of horses while he mowed. I love the sound it makes and it brought back the memory of how wonderful it smelled.
Brie joy is a great name for the filly. She suits the name well. She is calm like her Mumma is and so darned cute with it. Lots of work going on, on the farm today and lots still to do i think. Great to see you both again say hi to Trudy and Abby for me. Take care and God bless.
In the Great Lakes region its been a bit weird... we had days in the upper 70's in January/February then back to the 20's and 30's which a lot of my fruit bushes did not like. It "seemed" like March and April went from colder than normal and rainy to this week, in May, late summer. I'm not sure how my barley will turn out in my urban gardens. Anyway... The new filly was a boost and encouragement to me. Seeing the haying going on made me long to help horse powered friends which I hope to do.

We are so thankful finally for the rain. It's been a blessing indeed. Last year cattle ranchers were selling off their cattle, no hay or wheat hardly to feed them, Temps in the triple digits for 3 months , yes this rain is much wonderful.
So. Here it is then...... I better wait a few weeks until Brenda finalises the filly's name. Cute as she is {the filly}, she does not strike me as a princess! 😊😂 Lovely camera angles BTW
Lovely square corners. A big team of dapple grey's taught me how to do those when I was 15. The boss sent me out to cut pot holes and sloughs (and a few days later rake them with a dump rake for baling) with the team while he did the fields with the tractor mower and side delivery rake. I later hauled bales and cultivated summer fallow with the tractor.
That sounds like this household. Every pet has a long list of nicknames. The cat never gets called by her real name, but rather by Pudge Kitty, Thunder Kitty, Badness, Fuzzy Butt, or whatever else happens to occur to us in the moment.
It would be interesting to hear about the different processes involved with haying. I think everyone knows about mowing but are there different ways to mow? Then what is that spinner equipment called and what does it do? When do you know if the hay is ready to rake into rows for the baler to pick up? I've seen rakes that are more like hay forks but semi-circular. Can you estimate how many bales a stand of hay will make? This is a real learning lesson for non-farmers I would think. I like that you included your grandchildren in the naming of this foal. Princess Bree Joy. That's a mouthful. She won't care what you call her as long as you don't call her late to dinner. Ha ha.
I have 15 shetland ponies that I breed every two years or so. This year we had three, a colt and two phillies. I usually wait and let the baby name itself. The colt was the first born from my stallion so I call him Bubby jr. after his Daddy. The phillies are April cause she was born in April and Misty on account of the mist she was born in. It took weeks to settle on there names so don't rush it she'll name herself.
Bree is such a sweet name for the foal. I think Brenda's name should also be in the title of the UA-cam channel 'Working Horses with Jim and Brenda' ☺👍❤
Noble; Power. Bree is a girl's name of Irish origin and comes from the traditional Irish names Bríghe and Brigid. Meaning “noble” and “power,” this regal name has deep roots and entices parents with its simple style and captivating connotations.
Princess Bree Joy! Powerful name! Great idea to ask the grandkids. Great day! Jim and Brenda, you got a lot of work done and you come away from the little filly with Joy all over your faces. Congratulations. She is light-colored, Bree. I know it will change. Bree seems like a light name! Perfect when she is all grown up kicking up her heels and keeping the stallions away we will then use her Royal Name Princess Bree. We will always remember she brings joy to so many people watching this video! in these precarious times! New Life brings joy.
What ever you call her is fine as long as you love her😀 My registered appaloosas had names in Spanish but I used the English version of part of their names.
Beautiful weather , same as here. I have about 15 acres down, about 5 acres cut with horses, rest with tractor and haybine. Darn pitman arms, I keep telling myself to cut a new spare, but keep putting it off. Really need to just do it as I have lots of white oak which would suit I think. I'd like to have a mower I could customise with a wobble drive run the belt off the flywheel replaced with a pulley, and build the wobble drive into the lift apparatus. I had a JD 3 pt hitch 350 mower years ago with a lovely smooth wobble drive, I'd use something like that, quiet, smooth and drives easy. I find my hay is about half a crop this year, even the stuff that got manure and a bit of fertiliser this spring seems pretty light. Raking, the one thing I like about raking with the horses is the ability to turn on the spot on those point windrows, tractor is a pain. Weeping may endure for a night/season, but joy cometh in the morning. If I recall...
I like Bree as it is close to our last foal's name which is Breezy. She was born in the middle of worst storm we had had in January in 10 years. 1 1/2 days after she was born it snowed here in the desert in California.
Dandelions come up after larger amounts of rain and are a sign the land is souring because of that rain. Sweetening the soil will prevent most of them coming up again. Or you can let nature takes its course but it takes years to fix it naturally. Best to use some lime which is organically certified anyway. Using chicken manure and cow manure can help if it contains egg shells but will still take a couple years. Depends how important dandelion free hay is in your system. That is from my permaculture background. I'm glad you think you have settled on a name! Be interesting to see what the filly is called in a few weeks time. 😁
Who else likes the sound of all the tack and the equipment?
I like hearing all the noises especially the mower knives in the cutter bar.
I like hearing the noise, it’s relaxing 😊
Not only the sound but also very good feeling of having no negitive impact by any kind of pollution in the nature.
Good morning! Sunshine, horses, haymaking, and a new foal name! What a great day!
And I bet the smell of fresh mowed hay ... Hmm.
Imagine hearing Jim call out ‘Careful Step Princess Bree Joy’
😁
All in one breathe. Lol
😂😂😂😂 can't wait to hear that 😂😂
😀😀😀
Right 🤣🤣🤣

When you are mowing, I like the way Bill looks down every time you go around the corner to make sure that he’s walking right at the edge of the tall grass.
Ya, he seems to.
Yes I wanted to comment that too. He really pays attention to where he needs to be, so smart.
No matter what her name ends up being, she is one beautiful filly! Great job Lady. and Barron 😀
and Barron
My gelding is Bill. When his little brother was born and was marked almost exactly the same. Our grandson said he is Bill II. So now I had a 10 year old and 6 year old team named Bill. As a soulmate to Jim, Brenda is a Princess--also a joy with her video sklills and inspirational Tuesday newsletter.
Bill actually checks out where he is walking in reference to the hay field! What a smart horse!
I always got the feeling he was thinking, "A mouthful of that fresh grass would go down a treat right now!" 😁
Please can we see a bit more of Lady and her baby,ďont you think Lady looks in great condition. Oh she just dotes on her baby girl, she's so proud of her.Thankyou dear friends ❤
I agree!! Much more of Lady and her baby as we all have waiting so long for the birth to happen!!!
What a big name for such a little filly! 😍 It suits her though, and you'll soon discover which of the names sticks for use in the barn. I'm really looking forward to watching her develop!
More content about Princess Bree Joy! She is a joy to behold ❤
She surely is!! Such a sweet little baby!
It looked like Lady was taking her filly around to get some exercise and show her the ropes so-to-speak. Love the smell of hay being cut and worked.
Bill is a gorgeous horse and a hard worker
Bree Joy is an awesome name for her!! Lady looks like she is totally enjoying being a MOM!! Good Job Mama!!....God Bless
I love watching Lady and her little filly. They are absolutely precious. There’s nothing like new life on a farm.
Welcome Princess Bree Joy - what a cutie !! Certainly stays close and follows Mama Lady everywhere !!
Look at Smart Bill! He looks to his right as best as he can with his blinkers and gee's over and checks out the cut line. He literally is measuring how to line himself up for the next pass. That's a super handy horse right there. Watching them make the turn is so satisfying.

I have never called any of my horses by their given names! Bree is so cute and I’m sure she’ll have many loving names from everyone in your family

Yay😊
My daughter, Joy, and I love watching your videos. We especially love the name Joy. And that psalm about Joy coming in the morning is one of my favorites.
My little Joy is so excited to share her name with your filly.
What ever she is called, she is worth the wait. Thank you for sharing.🐴🐴
That little filly is so cute
The first idea you had of calling the filly "May" was the best!❤
Great choice, Jim and Brenda! 👍
Born on my birthday. I won’t forget that little filly’s name!
Jim and Brenda 😂

Our beautiful girl!
Nice haying show there Jim, Bill , Ken and Barron... That cutting with the sickle mower though has me in Aww... I don't think i can cut that clean and straight with the tractor! Wow!!
Was my favourite jobs, cutting and tedding hay .. just the horses and quiet.... barely any other mechanical noise
Brenda, you are an amazing videographer. I really enjoy your work. I love the process y'all used to give a name to the filly...lol. Happy haying and thanks again. All the best.
At 1:43 I like how Bill looks at the hay/grass. It's like he's looking for where to walk along the edge. Is he actually judging where to walk?
Nice looking hay
Wow! Great horse work! Those are some smart horses!
aww nice names
Love love the name the grandkids gave the new baby!! Lots of love from Iowa
Im addicted to your videos and all you share with us. I live in upstate massachusetts and they are haying here this week too. Small dairy farms near me nothing commercial. So interesting to watch all you do with the horses. The new filly is a happy bonus.
Awww...she will live up to her beautiful names, I'm sure!! She's such a joy (!) to watch as she walks around with Lady! I just love them both!!! 💕 💕
Friends with your daughter Drill and a dream. Glad to watch from NC. Hello🌸
Brenda, hope your birthday was great. Of course Princess Bree Joy was the best present. Love to see more of her. Thanks for sharing
God bless you Jim and Brenda..
itl bee fun to watch you working Ladie with the foal taging along.

Awesome days for haying! Good work by all.
Love the names!! She is so precious!! Enjoy watching y’all’s content! God bless
How about Princess B’Joy???
If you register your horses, might? be a good one for that...And just call her Joy, around home and the barn, since that name certainly has more than one significant meaning???
Fits and Makes Sense?
Naming the babies is always so much Fun, lol!!!
God Bless All,
😇
🙏🏻
Great job of raking Jim! I remember raking for my grandfather only I was driving a 1947 ford 8n tractor.
It is pleasant to watch haymaking, and I’ll bet it smells wonderful! I love the little filly and the name joy!
What a day to be making hay. great video, that is a great name for the new filly, Princess Bree Joy!! Jim, Nova Scotia, Canada. God Bless All ...
Love the sound of the old bar mower. Can't waite to get mine fixed
Great name for ladys litte girl bree great job ken and bill
Beautiful name.
Princess, Bree, & Joy. Sounds like a PBJ to me!
I live in the Panhandle of Texas and we had been in a drought or long dry spell and we've been getting rain every evening and night for about a month. But our weather is always strange.
Ha ha.
I thought the name Candy or Taffy, cause she was so sweet with you both the day she was born.
Cute names.
I had thought " Lola" you have Lady and Lola.
A beautiful fitting name for your little Princess. Love it! 💖💜💖
I sent in that i really liked that name BREE and you choose it wonderful.
Very nice. Love the name's.❤
Bree is such a sweet name for the foal. I think Brenda's name should also be in the title of the UA-cam channel 'Working Horses with Jim and Brenda' ☺👍❤
Thanks for a great video. Love the haying and live seeing Lady with her Princess Brie Joy. 👍👍❤️
Noble; Power. Bree is a girl's name of Irish origin and comes from the traditional Irish names Bríghe and Brigid. Meaning “noble” and “power,” this regal name has deep roots and entices parents with its simple style and captivating connotations.

Gah the NOSTALGIA that sound brings me…. ❤ Also love the name, congrats again on such a lovely little girl
What a great video really enjoyed seeing your day with the hay, Love the name Bree it suits her.
Great name!
Beautiful choice of a name
perfect name! i was thinking Princess!
That is a nice field. I love watching the horses work. I miss not being are to drive my own horses anymore.
Salut from Brunswick, Maine, US.
I like Bree as it is close to our last foal's name which is Breezy. She was born in the middle of worst storm we had had in January in 10 years. 1 1/2 days after she was born it snowed here in the desert in California.
That looks a very handy hayshudder, Jim. I have not figured out how it works yet.
