Why UP Bans Halal - certified products | Indepth | Drishti IAS

Halal is an Arabic word that loosely translates to ‘permissible’ in English. In the Quran, the term ‘halal’ is contrasted with the term ‘haram’ - meaning ‘forbidden’ - and is used to designate the categories of lawful (and allowed) and unlawful (and forbidden). The term is particularly associated with Islamic dietary laws to refer to food that is procured, processed, and traded in compliance with Islamic belief. It is similarly to the ‘kashrut’ dietary rules followed by orthodox Jews, who only consume food that is ‘kosher’, i.e. permitted in Jewish law. The two items of food that are most commonly considered haram (non-halal) are pork (pig meat) and intoxicants (alcohol). Even meats that are not pork must satisfy specific requirements relating to their source, the way the animal was killed, and how it was processed, to qualify as Halal.In the Indian context, halal is mostly used to refer to the slaughtering technique used by Muslims. This involves killing the livestock or poultry through a single cut to the jugular vein, carotid artery (which carries blood from the brain to the heart and vice versa), and the windpipe with a sharp knife at the front of the neck. Animals must be alive and healthy at the time of slaughter, and all blood must be drained from the carcass. During the process, recitation of prayers, known as shahada, is also prescribed. his is in contrast to the ‘jhatka’ method, preferred by many Hindus and Sikhs, which involves delivering a powerful, single blow to the back of the animal’s neck, decapitating it. Jhatka specifically involves stunning animals prior to slaughter, a practice that is not allowed in Islam. Most meat shops owned by Muslims announce their products as ‘halal’ whereas those owned by Hindus or Sikhs declare themselves as ‘jhatka’ establishments.

Mere hisab se sabhi brands ko halal certified products with higher price muslims ke liye banane chahiye aur baki communities ke liye non halal products banane chahiye. Aur supermarkets ko halal section for every product banana chahiye exclusively for muslims. Isse hindus ko halal khane ki majboori nahi hogi aur muslims ko bhi halal food milega.

हर कोई अपने धर्म के हिसाब से मापदंड तय करने लग गए तो हमारे देश में तो सभी धर्म के लोग रहते है , सभी अपने -अपने मापदंड बनाने लगेंगे, फिर ISO 9001:2015, FSSAI का क्या काम।
आपने बहुत अच्छे तरीके से हलाल को समझाया, और हमारे ज्ञान को बढ़ाया , लेकिन इस प्रकार के सर्टिफिकेशन की कोई जरुरत है नहीं। धर्म के हिसाब से सर्टिफिकेट नहीं बाँट सकते।

So the train incident, where halal tea was served to a Hindu customer, was being used for export? If halal is for export then it should be in a shipping container and not being served in a train. Also to promote religious certifications for export is dangerous as some industries have a higher e,port than domestic consumption, such as meat wherein a particular religion gets the 3ntirety of jobs in that profession and basically kills butchers etc from any other religion. Hence, if any export requires hala certification then it is better to not trade with that country since the cost to the society is too high. Apart from social cost, it is also acting like a Trojan horse, quietly collecting money spending on maybe terror and further radicalisation.
